Rated 1 out of 5 by QualityControl123 Quality Control needed
Good design but poor craftsmanship. The tubular "steel" frame in some places was not sealed thus allowed water to seep in and within two weeks rust formed. The wheels appear to wiggle. I would not recommend this product. Hopefully LLBean will improve their quality control process with suppliers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TexasPaddler Quality and efficient canoe cart
Practical design that easily accommodates resting a canoe on cart while loading and then allows easy pushing to water's edge. Easily assembled and materials seem thoroughly adequate. Overall very satisfied with product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ActivelyEngaged Seems very well thought out, but not quite perfect
This is an extremely useful item for canoe and kayak owners (we own both). I hadn't known such a thing existed until I saw the LL Bean description. It seemed fairly pricy, but has already proven to be indispensable in the first weeks of ownership. I used a $10-off coupon and a promotional discount to make the purchase, and feel fairly treated.
There was an odd quality problem with our first unit -- one of the the axle nuts, which are designed for easy on-off hand-tightening without tools, kept spinning itself off during use. As my family was about to leave for a trip with several boats, I called Bean Customer Service for help acquiring a quick replacement part. In light of our immanent departure, they insisted on sending us a whole new unit immediately, prior to return of the problem product. Okay, score another big point for LL Bean's customer service.
The new unit seems fine following about a dozen uses. I tell you, there's nothing that can replace this thing! We have more than a 1/4 mile trek through woods and over hill and dale to get to the river behind our property, and the cart makes this trip immanently possible (though not terribly easy) for a single individual. We definitely do not believe a lighter-duty cart, without tallish, inflatable tires would be sufficient to do this job.
I agree with other reviewers on two smaller points:
1) The indispensable, pneumatic wheels and tires pictured in Bean's product description seemed, upon arrival, were smaller than expected, and they do indeed have a different tread pattern. Nevertheless, they work quite well -- though it won't be as easy to balance a long canoe as you might hope, given the low hieght of the cart.
2) The supplied webbing strap (for securing the boat to the cart) is not very useful with several of our boats, and I did have to locate and buy properly sized bungee-style cords for each watercraft. Seems like some better design would be easy enough for the maker to incorporate, though I might've been scared away by any appreciably higher price tag.
Basically, an excellent product, and superlative customer care.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SurfFly GREAT Canoe Cart and GREAT Customer Support
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this cart! I am very pleased.
No problem with parts, assembly, etc., and it is perfect for my Old Town Guide 119! Cart is easy to load, sturdy, kick-stand handy and works great. Canoe ties down well....just test out how is best to tie it securely. It is actually a "Seattle Sports" cart, and I don't think you can beat LL Bean's price, especially with Free Shipping!
Great customer support also from the young man who went to a great deal of trouble to verify for me that this cart DOES use 16 inch tires (not 15 inch as referenced in "Customer Q&A" titled "Will it be possible to get spare tires, tubes, etc., for the cart?". LL Bean: You do really need to get rid of that item in the "Customer Q&A".

Rated 5 out of 5 by Juniper1 Sturdy, stong and worth it
Tried a less expensive aluminum cart from a competitor and broke it on the first use with half the maximum weight allowed. Well worth the extra cost for the stronger cart.

Rated 3 out of 5 by breakwaterbill Not good for a larger, heavier Hobie kayak
This might work for a lighter, more conventional boat, but is not a good choice for a 16-foot long Hobie Adventure kayak, which weighs 75 pounds without any extra equipment loaded. The Hobie hull bottom is more like three hulls glued together, and the pads on the supports of this carrier cannot be adjusted such that the boat will sit flat. Also, the pads are very thin and do not cover the edges of the metal supports, which scratched the bottom of the hull and over time would probably put a hole in it. Returned the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by dbhusker Boat Cart
Ordered this on a Sunday evening and had it in hand by the following Thursday. That was excellent along with the free shipping. The cart was simple to assemble. Tires needed inflating. The cart is small and light weight but very sturdy. It would work well for either a canoe or kayak as its cradle is adjustable. I am loaning it to my son in Minneapolis so he can walk his canoe to a lake 4 blocks away. One can easily stow the cart in the canoe while paddling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Unclephoto Nicely constructed kayak/canoe carrier
The unit was shipped promptly and was easy to assemble. However, the wheel nuts & knob were set for opposite rotation according to the arrows on the tires. I had to reverse one wheel's nut assembly prior to installation so the treads both be oriented in the same direction. Not a big problem. Too much ice to use the carrier so far but open water came yesterday on a local pond so it won't be long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HappyinOregon Get your gear there, all of it.
This is what I've been waiting for. This portage cart is what dreams are made of. It works great as a canoe carrier. But it works better as a portage cart for my camping (not backpacking) gear. It's just the right height so that with an extension bar,I will be able to connect to my bike as well. The very best feature on this is the fold down stand that keeps it level while your loading/unloading. I have had up to 200+ lbs on it and it seems to perform better with more weight than less. I couldn't have built one that is this strong and lite. I also like how the wheels fold up without having to remove them. I've looked high and low this is the best portage on the market hands down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WildTroutBeware Works exactly as advertised
Using on Coleman canoe. Recently took it 1 mile into woods (over poor dirt road) to a pond to fish. Rolls easily and is fairly effortless if load is properly balanced. Strap supplied was too short - so got two appropriate straps. For a long and/or bumpy journey, recommend two straps to prevent canoe yaw during transport.
