Rated 4 out of 5áby BigBird189 Zipper
Although the raincoat is just what I wanted, with hood, large interior pockets, the ZIPPER is frustrating. The two way zipper is very hard to get started but once it does, it works well.

Rated 4 out of 5áby FlyingFish Good but not what it could be
Several years ago I brought this raincoat for myself and my wife. We wanted a lightweight stowable raincoat that extended below our waists. At the time of our purchase, the raincoat had two features that are now sadly missing on this edition of the raincoat: (1) A double acting zipper that allows the bottom of the raincoat to be partially unzipped while sitting and (2) A hood that can be hidden in the coller when not in use. We also liked very much the soft lined collor on the old model and the "stone" or light tan color that was available then but not now. Please bring back this missing features!

Rated 4 out of 5áby bluedun Chicago in the Winter
I bought this basic raincoat to use as a shell over a 21 oz wool mid- weight caped-shoulder coat on a recent winter trip to Chicago. IT WORKED keeping out a windchill temperature in the 'teens on arrival, walking on Michigan Ave into the wind toward our hotel. I used the velcro tabs to close the front. Two days later it worked well again walking into horizontal, wind driven snowfall on the way to the train station. However, this time I wanted to close the zipper, but getting it seated right in a rush failed, and I fell back on the velcro tabs to close it up. The velcro plus the bottom hem snap worked well enough. At home, testing it, the zipper worked great, but in the uncomfortable weather and with me impatient to get it zipping, it proved balky. So, minus a star, but I'm glad I had this raincoat along. Be calm and Zen-like when zipping up under stress, I would advise. Remember, it's B A S I C gear not Ultimate. Since we are in deeply bad drought here in California, I hope next winter I can add a comment about how it handles rain.

Rated 2 out of 5áby becomingabeanfan Frustrated with zipper
I wore this coat every day during a two week trip to Great Britain; during light sprinkles and heavy downpours, it did keep me dry. But only if I could get the zipper to work quickly; it sporadically would not work, leaving me in the rain struggling with it. My wife would have to wait in the rain for me to get the zipper to work. And unlike the two other Bean coats I own, the mesh pockets do not create extra pockets inside the coat; I lost my tube pass when I thought I had slipped it into an interior pocket. This will be my first return of a Bean product due to it being of faulty construction and design.

Rated 5 out of 5áby beachnj excellent product
I bought the men's medium which is a perfect fit and is longer on me so it covers more. (my husband had this already so I could do this experiment.) It is perfect for all weather, even though it is not lined, because it is roomy enough to layer up underneath. I like the light weight for summer rains. Periodically, the zipper is tricky to start but not a real problem.

Rated 5 out of 5áby HopJr Met all expectations...
My wife and I both got one and all we can say is great. It repels the water nicely and an added bonus is a nice zipper that works both ways so it can be zipped up from the bottom making it easier to get in a car without removing the coat. Great buy!

Rated 4 out of 5áby NCmountainwear Good, but with caveats
Since this is to be a Christmas gift, I have no idea about it's durability or fit, but have been looking for a raincoat for my husband for many long months and finally found this one at LLBean. It's rather expensive, but there haven't been many to choose from that aren't heavy winter-weight lined coats. Even LLBean's previous choices have been limited. My initial disappointment is that the inside of the hood is a hideous off-white color, which is just the backside of the outer fabric. The stitching shows plainly on the white in the color of the exterior, whatever that might be. In this case, it is green. There is no lining of any sort to hide the white or stitching.. AND, the hood is not designed to fold or hide inside a zipper pocket of any sort, so it is always open. When not actually on the wearer's head, it looks like it will just flop open behind his head, and will collect any drizzle or drops that happen to fall inside it since the "bill" on the hood will apparently hold the hood wide open. I don't know if this will be annoying or not, but it would be to me. The fabric is light weight for layering over outerwear in the winter, and seems sturdy enough for a light raincoat for all seasons. The length is good Others I have found are only jacket-length and my husband didn't want those. All in all, it is what I was looking for. I just wish the hood design and construction had been more in keeping with the price and expectations of an LLBean raincoat.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Notlim Super efficient wet weather protection
As a Water Taxi mate I move around crowded boats in warm the warm south Florida climate. Wet weather protection is important so my choice of the Trail Model 3/4 rain coat was based on an associate's praise of same. The lite weight and the material's breathing allows me to stay dry without the heat build up of traditional rubberized fabrics.
Thank you LLBean for making this rain ware available!

Rated 3 out of 5áby BearX220 Disappointed
I bought this coat online and I'm not crazy about it -- will likely return it. The Tyvek-type nylon shell is crinkly and flimsy-feeling, like wearing a coat made of cut-up shopping bags. The coat is extremely lightweight, so I'm sure it would pack well and be easy to travel with, but would offer no cold or wind protection. It's basically an insubstantial waterproof shell to be worn over a proper coat, sweater, etc.
I was looking for a light/medium-weight carcoat-style garment I can wear over a sport jacket without the jacket's tails peeking out, but this isn't it. It's essentially zero-weight, not lightweight. Given these qualities it seems rather expensive for what you get -- you have to wear a second coat underneath for warmth/wind anyway.
