Rated 5 out of 5áby KenCo Nice packable raincoat
OK, this is a nice packable raincoat. It is very light weight and well made. In my opinion, it is good exactly as stated, packability and light weight. In this regard, it is about the same as other quality, light weight coats in the same category. This is a very good raincoat for summer backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, where you need protection from the occasional rainy day. Its also ideal for travel, being one of the few that comes in a longer length. This gives it a higher score for the adventure travel crowd. That being said, it probably would not hold up for every day use. One reviewer said he got excessive shoulder wear after everyday use. I suspect he might have often had a backpack. It's just not heavy enough for every day. Like other light weight nylon jackets, you have to be careful with the zipper. It is prone to snagging if you go too fast with it. The hood is quite nice with a hard brim and an adjuster to keep it out of your face. I wear a baseball cap under this type of hood to keep it from falling foreword. I like the self pack pocket, but personally, I always fold my coats into thirds, roll it up from the bottom and tuck it in the hood. Sizing is just about right. I'm a big guy, 6' 245lbs and it fits fine. I bought the GoreTex one and had to return it because it was too small. All in all, a very nice coat.

I've had this coat several years now and it's held up perfectly. I agree with other reviewers that the hood is awkward, but I wear a baseball cap under it and it works fine. I love that it's long enough to cover my bottom. A couple of years ago I backpacked at Yosemite and was going to just bring a light rain jacket since I'd never encountered rain there before, but my brother convinced me to bring this jacket and I was very glad I did. We were in several major thunderstorm that each dropped 3-4 inches over the course of several hours and the jacket kept me dry and comfortable (well as comfortable as one can get in a pounding rainstorm).

Rated 2 out of 5áby CandorAboutProducts Hood Poorly Designed
The nylon, length and general shape of your Trail Model Raincoat is fine. But sadly, the hood on the raincoat was poorly designed. When worn normally, the visor on the hood is so low as to block all vision.

Wife washed this according to directions in cold water on low.
Dye ran. I had to drive to Tysons Corner, Virginia to return it at an L.L. Bean store. Otherwise, I would be charged $6.50 shipping charge to return it by UPS to L.L. Bean.

great waterproof rain jacket, folds up in purse, if need be. but, shoulder interior wore out on my first one within a year, & had to buy another. certainly not the usual ll bean quality, but the price does reflect that fact.

You can get by without an umbrella with this raincoat. It is light weight and takes up very little space in your suitcase if you are traveling. Since it is calf-length, your pants stay dry too. The only thing you have to worry about with this raincoat is having the right shoes to wear in wet weather. If it's a cold rain, there is room to wear a sweater. If it's a summer rain, it goes over a t-shirt just fine. I have gone barefoot wearing this raincoat in the summer. Too bad they aren't offered in more colors. I own two.

Rated 2 out of 5áby rder zipper
Purchased in Oct., 2014, just for dog walking. Great for the job?EXCEPT. . . .The zipper is outrageously badly made. It was a long struggle to get it zipped the first time. Wanting to keep the coat, I filed the bumps off the insert part. Now it goes on if I jigger it just right?not easily, but it works. Seriously, though, there are so many very legitimate complaints in the reviews pointing out that it's a raincoat with a very cheesy zipper that I'm surprised LLB is still selling it. If you have a good file & don't mind fixing it, have at it. Otherwise, getting a good one looks like it may be a crapshoot.

Jacket was not what i was expecting for an item costing near $100 dollars. Very light weight material. Hood covers down over sight when worn, have to flip outer edge up to see where you're walking or hold it with your hand. zipper is difficult to zip and not as quality on the zipper i'd expect for a high price item. Coat covers down to knees, less pants area getting wet. Would suggest a tie string added to hood to keep it on in wind, had to hold it down when wind tried to blow it off head.

I was in the bank a couple of weeks ago, and I saw a customer with the LLBean Trail Model Raincoat.
I inquired about it, and the customer told me he loved it. And proceeded to show me his raincoat, and all the details , how convenient it is , being able to pack it, the hood and how smart it looks.I wanted to get one for my husband, and ordered it the minute I arrived home.
My husband also liked the raincoat, except he wished it was longer, it came to his knees. How ever he was very pleased with it.
I will be back to look for a longer version of it, I hope eventually you will carry one.
