Really like this hat; bought the large and it fits well; like all the features. Am going on vacation and cruise where it rains often, so this hat will meet all my needs plus it is attractive. Wish it had been available in other colors, but no negatives at all with this purchase. Thanks, L.L.Bean.

This is just an OK hat looks wise but it will be great for walking on drizzly days when wearing a jacket with a hood would be too warm. Also, it has a small enough brim that it will fit in a carry-on suit case. Cannot yet speak to how well it will keep my head dry.

Had to exchange for my original purchase for a larger size, but this little hat works well in the rain. It stays put and keeps the head dry, is practical and good looking. The toggle on the chin strap is the only thing that bothers me, although it works fine now. I suspect it might become an issue in the future, as I it might be too flimsy to hold up to the use that I will probably subject it to. It's not too hot in the sun, nor too flimsy in the wind. The colonial red color is quite nice too, not too bright.

I hike 5 days a week in Vermont....rain or shine. I wanted a hat with a wide brim to keep the rain off my neck and to keep my eyeglasses dry. This hat has a very stiff brim which makes it look like Zorro's hat ;(not my favorite look). However, it performs beautifully in the rain. I stayed nice and dry!

The fit was perfect.
The hat is able to made smaller or bigger around the head.
I wore it in a heavy rain and wind. It held up nicely.
It felt very light on my head.

This hat is very comfortable and does not weight a thing. I have not seen how it performs under rain and wind yet, but I'm sure it will stand up to the test since it is well built.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Customer52 Product Color Choices No Longer Designed for "ME".
Many changes at LL Bean product design choices - "French Blue" (which it is not, as you'd see when it arrives) and other colors, such as the selection in their Khaki shorts series, now seem to cater to new markets. Not flattering colors and tones for many of us who used to be the customer base for LL Bean. I was so glad when my "French Blue" trekking hat finally got lost on a trip. Buddies and I liked the "Peak Blue" (former color Bean offered), ah well - it seems maybe the consumer loyalty with Beane was a one-way street, and they are choosing other markets now.
