Well there is certainty no doubt that Bean sell premium socks.
Yes a bit costly but they are worth it.
Purchased for my Fiance. He loved them immediately. I am ordering more for him over time.
Nice and cushioned, warm and comfortable.
I have Beans Ski Socks and while the wool can shrink up a bit - I avoid putting them in the dryer. I wash, stretch them and air dry.
I know that I will have my Bean socks most likely forever as I seriously cannot foresee them ever wearing thin let alone developing a hole at the heel.
Worth the money, for sure!

Rated 5 out of 5 Great Socks - comfortable, durable, versatile
I bought 3 pairs of these and was so impressed with them that I bought another 3 pair. The foot has a lot of cushioning that makes them really comfortable. They are black, so they can go with my dress shoes or my running shoes - they work either as a sport or dress sock. Keep your feet warm too. Highly recommended.

These wonderful socks are made of 30 percent merino wool, 30 percent Primaloft polyester, 30 percent nylon, and 10 percent spandex. LL BEAN should state this information on their site. These socks stay on my leg, they breath well, they are comfortable, and they wash and dry well. Although these socks are made partly of wool, they are good in the summer, especially the light weight pair. I have both weights. However, although these socks may be warm enough for the vast majority of days in the northeast, for the coldest days of the year I prefer the much warmer socks from LL BEAN that are thicker and made mostly of wool, such as the Cresta. and the incredibly warm and comfortable Boot socks, but these All Sports socks are perfect for work and everyday use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by breezewood Simply a great all around sock.
Generally would not take the time to review socks, but these are great. Use for everyday wear and when hiking. The held up great, retaining shape and comfort. I have 4 pairs of both light and mid weight. Will by more as needed but may be years before they wear out.

by Danmaku What happened?!
These socks used to be awesome! I've purchased several pairs since about 2010.
Sometime early in 2013 they went out of stock; when they came back I ordered a few more pairs. The current socks are WAY lower quality in terms of stitching / comfort / feel and appear to use different materials.
Also, after washing these only once they started to disintegrate into little balls of fluff. Maybe that's my fault?
I have included a picture to try and illustrate the difference.
I returned the socks to LL Bean and (hopefully) politely explained my concerns before posting a review here. I got a very boilerplate response and I'm worried that they won't take the necessary steps to bring back the old, awesome socks. Cross your fingers!
Very sad about this; these used to be my favorite socks! :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by ATP1 Great socks, but now only two colors?
I have ten pair that I've been rotating daily for about a year. None have come even close to wearing out. White cotton was tearing my heels up on five to seven mile walks. No problem with these socks. But what happened to the blue? And why not more colors?

These socks rock! I wear them to work and to the gym. I wear them around the house. They are durable, soft, super comfortable, and offer excellent support and cushioning. The quarter crew height works well with mid-cut shoes/boots. Keep these socks, Bean!
