After ordering the 8" felt LL Beans women's boots and returning them because they seemed to cut into my legs at the wrong height, I am very happy with the Waxed Canvas Maine Hunting Shoe. The boot is comfortable right out of the box and fits well with various socks. The 10" height just seems to work much better. The waxed canvas is more flexible and softer than the felt, which was so stiff. I am a 7.5 but I ordered the 6 and it is great. My only complaint is more a suggestion for LLBean. First, the boots came in the outer shipping box - no real shoe box at all. For $139 I should get a real box inside the shipping container. It is brown and ugly - just like a regular shipping box. It may sound picky, but I save all my boots in their boxes.
Secondly, I had to go to LL Bean Signature website to find these boots. I almost didn't find them. They are not listed in the "boots" on the regular LLBean website - so if you are searching for a boot you are not seeing everything they offer in one place. Annoying. Plus, why call it a shoe - it is a boot. But I do love the boots so I couldn't take off a star for that.

Waited almost 2 months on backorder for these boots, and I must say, it was SO worth it! These will be my favorite for a long time to come...comfy and cozy while keeping my feet dry! I ordered a 6 (I usually take a size 6.5) and they fit perfectly with regular or heavy socks. I never want to take them off of my feet! Going to wear these bad boys through the seasons! Yet another reason to love L.L. Bean!

I haven't decided whether to keep these or not even though I love the look and they fit very well as recommended a size down. The ONLY reason I would not keep these is that I am waiting for a pair of the Anniversary Hunting boots to come back in stock to choose. I was looking for a pair of lighter weight water/snow proof boots and these fit the bill. Oh and I can drive in them because they aren't hugely chunky as many wet weather boots are. The LL Bean staff in both the store and online are fabulous. I will keep one pair or the other and highly recommend them! Thanks LL Bean ....again

The Signature canvas boots are a step up from the regular Bean boots. More fashionable, lightweight yet warm, with three season wear. Classic!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Vineyard14 Great right out of the box!
I purchased my first pair of bean boots in 1987 and I still wear them all the time! My new waxed canvas bean boots were comfortable right out of the box. No leather to break in and the 10 inch boot is just the right height!

These boots are light, sturdy and good looking. The lower part is rubber and water proof, but the waxed canvas upper isn't. Normally I wear a size 8 1/2 and got the size 7 regular. They fit well w a normal sock, but probably wouldn't accommodate thick socks. I replaced the insoles with shearling ones and they are very cozy and nice in the snow but a bit tight. I tend to wear out the interior heel and would like it if that part was reinforced. All said I am happy with these boots.

Just got my size 6 boots today, and they seem to be great quality. I am a size 7.5 (euro 38) and the 6 fits perfectly with medium weight socks. Unlike other reviewers, I actually like that the tongue is connected to the rest of the boot. It keeps everything neater. I am looking forward to getting a lot of use out of these boots!

I have worn classic bean boot for years and have been very happy. However these are outstanding. The look, the feel are amazing! Functional and fashionable at the same time. I was looking for a boot to wear all day and these are them! I love them.

I own the shearling-lined bean boot, I've had it for about 2 years, and I absolutely love it. But, as it's lined I was looking for a boot that could be worn beyond winter. This is just the thing. This boot is comfortable, the canvas is waterproof and I can tell you it does well in mud. I put the "Hunting" in "Maine Hunting Shoe" as I wear these when I go hunting (spring Turkey season so far). They've served me well through the woods, dirt, brush, and sitting outside from 5:30am. I've included a few pictures from these ventures. Lots of mud.
But they're perfect for just going about your normal day, which for me is attending my college classes, dog walking, or meeting up with a friend. It's a quite versatile boot, and can be worn with many kinda of outfits.
One thing I will say, I was not expecting the tongue of the boot to be sewn to the rest. I think partly because my winter bean boots it's separate. Having it attached makes it a little harder to take on and off, but nothing you don't get used to. It's a great boot. I can tell bean boots will be in my life for a long time. These are the second addition to my collection. I'll be interested to see how these puppies hold up in the winter. I've had great experiences with these boots.

I got these boots in Marsh brown, thinking it was a beige/taupe color, which is what it looks like on my monitor, but it's actually a very dark brown/greenish color, not at all like the light color on the site.
I called customer service to make sure that was the actual color and they were incredibly helpful and patient; they tried to find another pair that was closer to the color I wanted, in case my pair was a fluke, but finally came to the conclusion that the dark brown/green is actually the correct shade. Customer service said they would try to correct the color on the site.
I ended up keeping them; other than the color discrepancy, they're great boots! They do fit large; I'm normally a 6.5 and I got the 6 and it feels more like a 7. I'll definitely have to wear with thick socks. They're very comfortable and lightweight.
