I own the shearling-lined bean boot, I've had it for about 2 years, and I absolutely love it. But, as it's lined I was looking for a boot that could be worn beyond winter. This is just the thing. This boot is comfortable, the canvas is waterproof and I can tell you it does well in mud. I put the "Hunting" in "Maine Hunting Shoe" as I wear these when I go hunting (spring Turkey season so far). They've served me well through the woods, dirt, brush, and sitting outside from 5:30am. I've included a few pictures from these ventures. Lots of mud.
But they're perfect for just going about your normal day, which for me is attending my college classes, dog walking, or meeting up with a friend. It's a quite versatile boot, and can be worn with many kinda of outfits.
One thing I will say, I was not expecting the tongue of the boot to be sewn to the rest. I think partly because my winter bean boots it's separate. Having it attached makes it a little harder to take on and off, but nothing you don't get used to. It's a great boot. I can tell bean boots will be in my life for a long time. These are the second addition to my collection. I'll be interested to see how these puppies hold up in the winter. I've had great experiences with these boots.

I got these boots in Marsh brown, thinking it was a beige/taupe color, which is what it looks like on my monitor, but it's actually a very dark brown/greenish color, not at all like the light color on the site.
I called customer service to make sure that was the actual color and they were incredibly helpful and patient; they tried to find another pair that was closer to the color I wanted, in case my pair was a fluke, but finally came to the conclusion that the dark brown/green is actually the correct shade. Customer service said they would try to correct the color on the site.
I ended up keeping them; other than the color discrepancy, they're great boots! They do fit large; I'm normally a 6.5 and I got the 6 and it feels more like a 7. I'll definitely have to wear with thick socks. They're very comfortable and lightweight.

Love these boots! Just beautiful! They came very fast too. I ordered a size 8 fits perfect! I wear a 9 sometimes 9.5 in other shoes. If I want to wear in cold weather with thick wool socks I will take the lining out. But really just wanted to have them for my camping trip in the Coastal Redwoods. Also to wear on rainy days. Definitely need socks that are same height of boot the canvas will scratch your legs while walking so I suggest to order socks with your boots!

This shoe is exactly as the catalog promotes this item: fits my foot to a tee, comfortable, waterproof and the sizing is perfect, even as L.L.Bean recommends a size down from your normal shoe size. The value for this shoe is priced right for it's fine craftsmanship. I highly recommend this product!

I love these boots! I got the denim color. They are slim, lightweight and supple, like wearing socks. I feel the ground when I'm walking, which is good. I wear them with or without an extra pair of socks depending on the temperature outside. Their casual "Bean-style" is just what I am looking for when I wear jeans which is almost all the time. And they look great with a corduroy or denim skirt, too. Very comfortable from the start. The canvas top is not waterproof as I found out the first time I wore them out in a field in the rain. I called Bean and they told me what to get to waterproof them, I may do that, or not. Not sure. They will get you through the 1" puddles, tho.

These boots are comfortable to wear .The canvas is quite pliable on the leg. They look great with jeans and a casual sweater. Perfect for the many rainy, damp days we have in MI this time of year. Another quality, rugged product from LL Bean that is made in Maine. Hurray!

I sized down one size and these were perfect. They are very comfortable and not too bulky. They seem to breathe nicely too due to the waxed canvas. Great purchase.

I'm one of those people who thinks you can never have too many Bean Boots. Obviously the leather upper ones are great, classic, weather friendly, but these waxed canvas ones have a certain edge that I really love. They're a bit more flexible around the ankle, look a bit more rugged right off the bat (which is proving to be a great look with most of my fall wadrobe). but they still serve all of the purposes you would hope in a bean boot. The only thing I wish is that they would stop sewing the tongue up the sides and leave it as an actual proper, floppy tongue. I get the functionality of the connected tongue, but it just doesnt look right the way I like to wear them, which is leaving the laces out of the last 3 loops.

Love waxed/coated canvas. Being a size 8.5, I have tried both sizes 7 & 8. Former - much, much too small. The latter - size 8s, only fitting with multiple insole combos/socks. Very well made & very Maine. Size 8s were no larger in overall size & appearance than any of my 8.5 boots, even clogs. These boots are basically hollow/no lining or padding inside requiring insole/sock support to properly fit.

Love them, they fit great and look good with everything. I work in NYC so it is great right now with the rain and the upcoming snow. Sizing is pretty true to size. I usually wear a 9 in shoes and got an 8 and fits perfectly even with my narrow feet.
