Rated 1 out of 5áby PatNY I wanted to like this jacket but...
I wanted to like this jacket, even knowing it wasn't of the quality of the Gore-Tex stowaway jacket. However, I am about to return my second one. Each one failed within a few months in the same way. The lining tore at the back of the neck. When I received the second one, I knew it was going to happen again because the jacket comes flat as a pancake with a very, very hard crease at that exact point.

Rated 4 out of 5áby MizLoo Stiff - I didn't like the texture
I wanted a rain jacket with a peaked hood - one that would keep the rain off my face. I loved the styling and two-tone purple of this was really pretty. But the fabric is rigid, like oilskin rainwear.
I realize I might have ordered the wrong size - I'm a medium in soft shirts, but I have broad shoulders. Anyway, it was tight across the shoulders with no give at all. I'm pretty sure the larger size would just swim on me, so - regretfully - back it goes. And my search for a rain jacket continues.

I have been shopping at LLBean for years, and this would have been the third Trail Model Rain Jacket I have owned, although I returned this one. First, the fabric did not feel like the same quality fabric that was used before; it felt stiffer and more plastic. But the biggest reason I returned it was that they no longer use a two-way zipper, which is an absolute necessity when I buy a jacket, as I am very hippy and need it to open from the bottom when I sit. I am so disappointed that this is not the same quality jacket that I have worn and loved for so many years! It will be difficult to find a decent replacement for this one.

I bought this jacket specifically for a birding trip to Costa Rica. We would be birding in all sorts of weather conditions, including rain forest. The rain forest lived up to its name, and this jacket protected me, my camera, and my writing pad. I wore it with rain pants and was a happy birder. I wore it zip lining too! I would recommend this jacket to anyone who loves outdoor adventures!

Rated 1 out of 5áby Mammadubbs NOT Waterproof
I bought one of these two years ago and was immediately soaking wet the first time I wore it in the rain. I could have sworn that the description said it was waterproof, not water resistant. But I couldn't remember the style name. So last spring, I went to get a new one. I stupidly bought the same style. It still is described as waterproof, and it still isn't. My fault for A) trusting the description and B) buying the same thing twice. For the amount I spent I could have gotten a Gore-Tex coat and never gotten wet. This is a good looking coat, and may be great as a wind breaker, but is useless in rain.

Rated 2 out of 5áby MamaUpstate Inner coating peeling off!
I purchased this 18 months ago and it's leaky. I just used the Nikwax wash and waterproofing products, so we'll see if that helps, but the inner waterproof coating at the neck is all peeled up, so I think I will end up returning it. My mom has had two Bean rain jackets in 30 years, so I'm disappointed in the quality of this one.

I bought this jacket in yellow last winter for jogging in the rain in the Pacific Northwest. Sadly the rain comes right through, and the jacket isn't at all breathable. When I take it off, there is more water inside the coat than outside. My Nordic pole-walking group was admiring it one day until we went for coffee and they saw the inside. The water beads up on the inside surface from condensation that can't escape, and my tshirt gets soaked through. I suppose it might be ok if you move very slowly and it's only sprinkling a tiny bit of miniature rain drops. But the jacket does nothing for real rain and exercise. The petite size was perfect so am very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5áby SouthieKitKat Exactly what I wanted, SUPER FAST
I inadvertently left my old navy rainshell on the train a few weeks ago. Hearing the weather forecast of a nor'easter for Boston/Maine this week, I ordered the Trail Model Rain Jacket YESTERDAY. Rather than opting for free shipping, I paid for express hoping that I would get it Wednesday. It just arrived to work TODAY before a single drop of rain has fallen! The petite size large would have been fine, but I ordered XL so that I can layer it with a heavy fleece. I ordered it in daylily, which looked a bit more muted in shade in the pictures. The actual jacket is very bright, but not fluorescent. This is fine because I walk my dog in the woods and along the marsh. Even thought there is no permitted hunting where I live, it is better to be safe than sorry since there are duck hunters from time to time. The hood is adjustable, which I love because I have a rather short neck. There are vecro tabs on the cuffs and an flap over the zipper with velcro to keep the rain out. For the price, this is a really nice rain jacket. We shall see how it holds out during our nor'easter. I just love L.L. Bean.

I bought this last year? and every time I wear it in the rain? I feel that my arms are damp! So, to me it's not waterproof.
