I bought this jacket in January and wore it almost daily over other layers through a mild but wet winter. When I purchased it in-store I was skeptical about the tek.2 system compared to my previous Goretex jacket, but the sales clerk working the floor assured me that Bean's system is on par with Goretex.
I loved the jacket and enjoyed the fit and pockets and its no-frills style. Only a month in and the lining had started peeling. By March I gave up on its ability to keep me dry--the sleeves, the bottom, and the hood were all suffering from significant peeling. It was water resistant but boy was I soggy.
I was hoping it was a fluke but I returned it in person at the flagship store and the clerk said she has seen several of these jackets returned for the same reason. I went upstairs to the outerwear section and that was news to the people working sales, who assured me that the products are exceptionally wonderful. I have trusted Bean's throughout my life, but I have lost a lot of faith because of this product.

Rated 2 out of 5áby KKBeep Lining peels & not breathable
I'm on my second Trail Model rain jacket. I live in Portland, Oregon, and having a rain jacket is just essential. My first jacket's lining began to peel terribly, but I figured, after a year or so of use, that was somewhat reasonable, or maybe I just got a dud. Then I ordered a second one and it's doing the same thing! After less than a few months' use. I'm not exactly a power-user, either. I wear the jacket over regular clothes to and from work and out on errands. The jacket also does not breathe at all, especially after the lining has peeled off; it's like wearing a thin rubber skin.
Anyway, I'm trying a different rain jacket this time

this is my third llbean rain jacket, and the second model rain jacket. my very first rain jacket (i don't remember the style but they no longer make it) lasted several years before the lining started to flake/peel. it was fairly water resistant. that one was replaced with this style, but it was never very water resistant, and the lining started to peel in less than a year of light use. i was sent a replacement jacket this spring, same style, different color. i have only worn it a handful of times, getting soaked through each time. it's very frustrating to say the least to have a rain coat that doesn't keep you dry. i'm hoping that treating it with ReviveX will make it waterproof. if not, back to the store it goes.

Rated 5 out of 5áby annenice Best Jacket ever!
I purchased this jacket for a trip to Europe! Absolutely the best purchase I made! Carried this jacket everyday and used it not just as a rain coat, but also wind breaker. Loved the hood and the velcro at the sleeves. Found that I didn't need an umbrella, just the jacket. Worth every penny

Rated 5 out of 5áby Ladyhawk60 It is lightweight - perfect for travel!
I bought this jacket 2 years ago. I have used it for travel - most recently a trip to Alaska. I wore it everyday. My friends were amazed at how I just shook the jacket off before I went inside and it was dry! It's lightweight so I was able to wear it as a windbreaker when it wasn't raining - over a layer of clothing. I love this jacket and when it wears out I will purchase another one!

I wanted to like this jacket but the material used to line it was cold and uncomfortable against my skin. Shortly after purchasing the jacket the lining began to peel and shed inside. I had to return this product

áby Sunny14 Lining Peeling; New Style No Inside Pockets (sob!)
I just love this jacket, however, the lining near the hood is peeling. I hope LLBean fixes this design/fabric as otherwise it is a great jacket. I am an avid traveler and I have worn this jacket in 19 countries. Perfect to travel with a polar fleece underneath. Also, the jacket I have has two mesh inside pockets--open at the top. Great for my cell phone, Kleenex, etc. I understand that the version available now does NOT have inside pockets. This is really sad news for me. This was a fantastic feature of the jacket for traveling. LLBean: Please bring back the old design. Please!!!

I really wanted to like this jacket. I have the full length rain coat and love it -- very lightweight, takes up very little space in my luggage, overall perfect for travel.
However, the jacket has a serious drawback. Like pretty much every Bean jacket I've tried recently, it has a one-way zipper, not a top-down/bottom-up or two way zipper. You can't open it up from the bottom. If you are pear shaped like me, this requires all kinds of adjustments on my part to wear the thing sitting down. It just isn't practical. As a result, the jacket is going back.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Retired1594 I love this jacket
I have had several of these jackets.I find them waterproof and light weight. I had a problem with one jacket's lining at the neck flaking and, with the assistance of customer support, I returned it and purchased a replacement jacket. L L Bean is very accommodating to its customers. The new jacket arrived yesterday and, like the other, I love it. The jacket is comfortable and fits well and can be used in the middle seasons of the northeast on both sunny and rainy days. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a waterproof jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5áby hikerfrau Narrow in the shoulders
The trail model jacket fits and flatters my apple shape and there's room to layer. But it's narrow through the shoulders.
I'm disappointed because I like the hood design (it stays out of the way), the packable light weight fabric, and the cheery orange color.
