Rated 4 out of 5áby Pianista Love it but the silver lining is shredding...
I bought this to take on a trip to Corsica and I absolutely love it! It worked perfectly, packed well, and I love the bright yellow color.
Sadly, within a couple of months the silver lining started peeling in the neck and hood area and is really bad now.
Also, the cuffs get really dirty and it is impossible to get the dirt out in that area so it looks very bad even when clean.
I plan to send it back but disappointed that the only colors available now are ones I don't like.

Rated 5 out of 5áby lizzzi A High-Quality Rain Slicker
This coat is true-to-size and the blue as pictured is a pretty, deep-water blue color. Hood will keep you dry, two-way zipper seems OK, pockets are deep and can be zipped shut. I don't understand how this folds up into itself into the neat little packet as shown on the website, but I'll take it on faith that that is possible. This coat is a nice quality, very high-end rain slicker. The fabric is plastic-like, and does have a bit of a crinkle sound to it. There is no warmth to it: you would have to wear layers underneath. This is a very casual coat, and only for rain. It would not work as an all-purpose "urban exploration" coat, which I need for a trip to Dublin, Ireland next month. I'm sending it back, but would not discourage anyone from trying it--if you need a rain slicker.

To follow up on the defective zipper, LLbean sent another coat and arrived as promised. The zippers bad Ógain. Apparently it was not tried out before being shipped as I asked. Someone really needs to investigate this problem. Still I have to commend LLbean for the superior customer service, but this product is way below their standard.

Rated 2 out of 5áby Chipmuncher Sadly these coats aint what they were.
Had four of these coats over the years. Love the length & the fit (though I agree they are getting skimpier) and find the Velcro wrist closures poor. #1 I lost so bought a new one which is still going though a bit tatty now, so bought a replacement. This I returned because the new style lining broke down around the collar/neck area. Had its replacement for just over a year and yep, its happening again so I'm returning it for refund. I guess I'll just continue with my previous - lining is still intact.
I would love a new one with a good lining, zippers that do not snag up the lining, and why not throw in a Stowaway Pocket on BOTH sides?
I generally love LLBean 'cept their colours are usually a bit girly for me but think their service is simply exemplarily. Looking forward to the international website. Rock on Bean!

Rated 3 out of 5áby AcadiaNPfan definitely order a size up
I received this recently and have now had time to wear it in cold, rainy weather. I ordered a 2X even though I normally wear a 1X so I could wear layers under it. I found the arms to be particularly slim, with the body somewhat more form fitting than I would hope for. With just a single layer of fleece over a shirt, the sleeves feel snug. It will be uncomfortable and unattractive to wear more than a thin fleece under this raincoat! I don't understand why the sleeves in a plus sized raincoat would be so slim! Someone made a bad decision on that! A good coat that keeps the weather out, but order at least a size up if your arms are not pencil thin!

Rated 4 out of 5áby AcadiaNPfan Cut slimmer than they used to be
Just received replacement for one that began to leak after 4-5 years of frequent use around home and in the woods. Ordered same size as I had despite some weight loss since last purchase so I could continue to wear several layers under coat during cold rains. New one is cut appreciably slimmer than old one. I expect one layer will be fine under it, but two may make coat fit very snug. Definitely worth having though, as other reviewers mention, it can get sweaty inside, but definitely order up if you plan to wear any layers under it! Arms especially tighter than in old one.

Rated 3 out of 5áby IrishPrincess Missed the mark
I am planning for a trip to Ireland, where we expect rain more often than not. It is critical to find a waterproof jacket that can also keep me warm in 50 degree F temperatures.
The Trail Model Raincoat interested me since it is advertised as being waterproof, has a hood, and a fleece lining, which meets all of my Ireland criteria.
Shipping was prompt as always (a strength of Bean's), and I tried on the coat. It fit comfortably through the arms, shoulders and waist, but then had this enormous bell bottom to it. I do appreciate having some room to move, especially if this is designed for outdoor active use, but I could spread my legs into a very wide V and there was plenty of material, way more than was necessary. I am 5'5" tall and this coat fell to the bottom of my kneecap, which was just a bit too long for my liking.
So back to Bean it will go. I can't comment on how well it works in the elements. The brief time I wore it seemed appropriate for Spring-like temperatures, just not a keeper for me.

Rated 3 out of 5áby OutdoorGirl48 Very Pretty, But...
I have had this coat for a couple of years, and normally wear it when just going out and about for shopping, etc. This morning, I wore it in a pouring during my 4 mile fitness walk. It was soaked through when I got home, so it is definitely NOT waterproof. I have the matching rain pants and duck shoes, and my legs and feet were dry. My polar fleece shirt was dry, but the rain coat was thoroughly wet. Therefore, if you're looking for something to hike in during a downpour, this isn't the right garment. For casual wear where you'll just be in the rain from your car to a building, it's fine. I always get compliments on the color, which was called Agean Blue when I bought it.

Rated 2 out of 5áby bschenen Feels like a Tyvek envelope
Do not like this material... finely wrinkled and crinkled - feels almost like a Tyvek envelope. The lack of any kind of mesh lining or other liner makes it feel cheap and I'm guessing it will not be particularly comfortable to wear. Likely clammy. Sleeves have velcro closure which feels stiff and scratchy. On the other hand, I did like the cleaner, unencumbered styling compared to the H2Off raincoat. Now if the two could somehow be combined... since the H2Off material is so nice.. oh well... Back it goes... and the search for the perfect raincoat continues....

Rated 3 out of 5áby vgrosenw Waterproof Raincoat?
i've been seeking a waterproof raincoat forever it seems. after reading the reviews for llb's trail model raincoat, i hopefully ordered it. i just received it & discovered several drawbacks: 1) zipper, & 2) sleeves. zipper: while it catches easily, it's a struggle to move it up the tracks, much less disengage it when taking the coat off. sleeves: are cut narrow & long; their closure is velcro. this translates to not being able to even slightly roll the cuffs. minor drawback: fabric feels clammy to the touch. for all of the foregoing reasons, this llb raincoat will be returned.
