Rated 2 out of 5áby bschenen Feels like a Tyvek envelope
Do not like this material... finely wrinkled and crinkled - feels almost like a Tyvek envelope. The lack of any kind of mesh lining or other liner makes it feel cheap and I'm guessing it will not be particularly comfortable to wear. Likely clammy. Sleeves have velcro closure which feels stiff and scratchy. On the other hand, I did like the cleaner, unencumbered styling compared to the H2Off raincoat. Now if the two could somehow be combined... since the H2Off material is so nice.. oh well... Back it goes... and the search for the perfect raincoat continues....

i've been seeking a waterproof raincoat forever it seems. after reading the reviews for llb's trail model raincoat, i hopefully ordered it. i just received it & discovered several drawbacks: 1) zipper, & 2) sleeves. zipper: while it catches easily, it's a struggle to move it up the tracks, much less disengage it when taking the coat off. sleeves: are cut narrow & long; their closure is velcro. this translates to not being able to even slightly roll the cuffs. minor drawback: fabric feels clammy to the touch. for all of the foregoing reasons, this llb raincoat will be returned.

Love it!! Whatever issue there was with zipper last year has been fixed with the new two-way style. The PXL length is perfect for my 5'0" size - usually a trench coat would be around my ankles! And I adore the color, it's not an eye blinding royal blue, but a soothing deep water blue. Has two nice deep pockets with zippers. I have zero issue with any unexpected "crinkling noise" - whatever sound you might hear is inherent in that type of fabric and to be expected.
I wouldn't change a thing!

I bought this as an xmas gift for my daughter who goes to a cold rainy college where she walks everywhere and complains that shorter raincoats leave her legs drenched. This coat looks much better in the picture. The fabric is crinkly and has a plastic feel. But the length is great. I've tried it on--I'm about her size and I ordered a small. It's roomy (I'm 5' 5", 118 pounds), looks good and I can get a warm fleece on under it. She's an athlete so needs something to throw on over her workout clothes. I wonder if I should have ordered the fleece lined version as the unlined will provide no warmth and the plasticky feel is more noticeable against the skin, I assume. I don't know how waterproof it is so we'll see what she thinks Xmas morning. She may want me to exchange it for the warmer version though the advantage of this unlined one is that she can wear it year round with warm clothes under it, and stow it in a backpack. I just wish the fabric was thicker and better quality.

Rated 5 out of 5áby TaraSMC Lovin' the rain.... as much as I can
I LOVE this raincoat! I got it in yellow and I got a XXL. It's light weight and long with room to move. It doesn't pull when I sit in the car. I love the zippered pockets so that my belonging stay dry. The hood is perfect. I was going to get the lined one but decided that it would be too warm for mild fall or spring temperatures. Instead, I wear a fleece under it. Yesterday it was rainy and raw out. I had on my ski jacket (also LLBean) and then the raincoat. I was warm and dry. I got my boyfriend the one in green. He's in love with his.

Rated 5 out of 5áby HappyRambler A great value
I bought the long, knee length version of the Trail Model Raincoat. Previous reviewers had complained about a flimsy zipper with no double slider. But Bean has fixed this problem. The zipper works fine and has a double slider, a convenience on a long coat. The coat is small and light when folded, a lot of protection in a small package. This coat is a great value for the price.

I adore this coat. I bought it several years ago, in yellow because I often walk on roads here in northern California and want to be visible. I also have a purple fleece-lined one for winter. But I am sad that this one is losing its water-proof quality. I want to buy a new one but want it longer - it stops just above the knees and delivers the rainwater to my slacks. I may buy a men's one for the length.

áby NotActuallyAGuppy Mixed: nearly perfect for the city but lining dies
Let me tell you the good, neutral, and bad in my 2 years of using this raincoat in the city.
Packs well in my backpack without taking up a lot of space
Fits well over layers
Nice deep zippable pockets
Keeps me dry -- I live in the city without a car so subway + walking is my regular mode of transportation. This does the job nicely.
- I didn't realize there was a nearly identical men's version -- I could have had the same thing with the convenience of the zipper pull being on the right side (I'm a righty, and with a zipper that long it'd be really handy)! My next coat will be the men's version.
- It is rather shapeless, but that's probably an advantage for me. I don't care how I look when it's pouring rain, I care that I'm dry. I have a long torso and the last thing I need is not to be able to find a raincoat that fits because the waist is in the wrong place.
I've only had it for 2 years and the lining is completely disintegrating around the neck/hood area. It didn't take long to start doing this (within a year, certainly) but now it sheds bits on me every time I wear it.
The last LLBean raincoat I had (different model) failed the same way in a similarly short period of time; I assumed I'd gotten a bad one but now I'm not sure. I have not laundered or mistreated them. I guess I'll be returning this one too, but I shouldn't have to already! Plus it is otherwise quite functional. We're getting too much rain at the moment for me to do without right now.

Rated 1 out of 5áby Boozhoo Not so great
I coveted this jack for quite a while before I bought it. I love the way it looks on the site, but unfortunately it isn't nearly as good in real life.
It's boxy, very boxy. I chose the longer option because I live in an area where weather is often inclement so this helps cover more area, whether wearing it to walk to work or on a forest hike. But it is so loose and unfitted, that it feels like a sack. A simple drawstring around the waist would do wonders.
Also, the zipper is terrible. It doesn't catch when I try to zip it up, and because of its length, it's hard to hold the edges straight in order to get it to work. When it does work, the tabs under the zipper catch in the zipper itself, so tight that I have had to simply pull it over my head on multiple occasions and just give up, only to try later. I can't tell you how many times it has made me late for work or appointments because they zipper gets so thoroughly stuck that there is no getting it unstuck.
I truly wish I had something better to say about this jacket. I had very high hopes.

Rated 5 out of 5áby rentnerm It's a keeper!
I've had this raincoat (or the coat that was similiar) for 3 years now and it's still in great shape! The stitching is still in place, the lining & pockets are still intact-the coat still does not show any wear & tear! I live in southern MI, so we don't get a lot of rain all the time, but I was tired of buying raincoats to just "get me by" and decided to splurge on this one. I am so glad I did! This coat is easy & comfortable. I was able to wear it thru a pregnancy. It's lightweight, and the hood pulls far enough over my head that the rain just runs off the front & does not get my face wet-not even raindrops on my glasses! It's perfect on those days when it's not quite snowing but the rain is cold & icy. I'm impressed that it's stayed in such great shape-my investment was worth it! Once my 3 kids stop growing I"ll definitely be investing in these for them, too :)
