I am a long-time LL Bean customer, but this item was a disappointment. I read the reviews and SHOULD have paid better attention. Only two pockets?! I carry a phone, keys, tissues, dog biscuits, a wallet. Needs at least three outside pockets and at least one inside pocket. The zipper was always always fussy. Alas. I had to return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bikracer Comfortable, roomy and fits over layers
I just got this today and since we are having a drought here in CA I won't be able to tell how waterproof it is until our vacation in Ireland, which is what I bought it for. From the look and feel of it I think it will be plenty waterproof.
I am 5' tall and 110 lbs., the petite xs is perfect. Nice and roomy and will fit over even heavy sweaters and looks fine over tank tops too.
If you want a figure flattering raincoat this is not the coat for you but if you want a functional, lightweight, well thought out raincoat to keep you dry I think you'll like this one.
Kind of cool the way it scrunches up into its own pocket and it has a loop to attach it to your belt or...

Rated 3 out of 5 by Steph58 One Important Feature that Didn't Work for Me
Debated for a long time whether or not to return--considering the price, decided to send it back after all. Reason being it's like plastic, lightweight, thin, cheap rain poncho material. Beautiful color (French Blue), loved the style/features, loved the longer length of the raincoat. My usual size fit perfectly. But the thin plastic-like fabric wasn't what I was looking for in a raincoat, especially at that price point.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Walker80 Parka not entirely waterproof; pants waterproof
If you need completely waterproof, this is probably not the Parka for you.
Conditons Used In: Steady rain, 39 degrees, winds 13 mph. Walked 5 miles; half of walk was directly in the wind. Wore moisture wicking thermal ware underneath; fleece vest.
-Breathability: excellent, body heat remained same throughout walk
-Nice side zip pockets. Kept my cell phone and tissues completely dry.
-Hood: excellent design; kept water off eyeglasses and face, even when walking in the wind. Nice zip cord to tighten hood when needed for protection against the wind, rain.
-Double zipper: excellent feature for more comfortable walking to relieve stress at zipper bottom
Wind Resistance: Excellent
Parka length adds extra insurance wind won't come up under jacket
Lightweight (item does not add any warmth; dress for the temperature outside)
Velcro closures: wrists, pant legs
Bottom Leg Zippers
Parka is not completely waterproof: This is the only negative I have. I inspected the inside of both the parka and pants when I was done with my walk. I am very disappointed that the parka had tiny water droplets on the inside of the front, back, and hood. For the time I was in the rain, it was enough moisture to dampen my fleece vest topically. If I was out hiking/camping, upon return, I would need to change out that item of clothing and that would be a deal breaker.
Overall, I will keep. Why, when it is not completely waterproof? The LL Bean Parka & Pants dramatically improved the quality of my walk in this type of condition. Usually, I am a soaked & cold mess upon return: eyeglasses are wet, and if not, I am so overheated that they steam up and I can't wear them, my hair is wet from overheating, my pants have soaked through to my skin, my legs are cold and numb by the time I get home, and my jacket is wet through and I have to speed up my pace to stay warm so the chill does not totally consume me.
Overall, my walk felt dry and my body temperature was completely comfortable throughout (I generally walk a 16 minute mile). Because I was so comfortable when I reached home, I was very surprised that the outside of my vest was damp to the touch. Since I don't camp or day hike and can easily change out my upper clothing when I get home, the lack of total waterproofing won't be a deal breaker for me.
I am 5'6" tall and bought a medium in both. Parka measures 23" across at underarm seam; parka length is 37" from shoulder seam (where hood is attached) to the bottom of parka. Pants measure 45" at hips, pants inseam length 31" Jacket fits fine & is true to size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Retired3 Glad I had it....
Just finished a late spring 3-week tour of New Zealand. This coat was great as a windbreaker as well as for the rains we experienced (no heavy downpours). I loved the adjustable hood and found it waterproof for the rains we had. It is light, so I wore a fleece vest under the coat on cooler days. I did find when I did some strenuous hiking and the temps went up a bit I was sweating underneath since the coat does NOT breathe. I am a plus size and found it had plenty of room for layering. The Velcro closures are great so I didn't have to zip it up all the time. It is very light weight and packs great in a suitcase or back-pack - essentially no wrinkles once you put it on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by fenwaydav THE BEST INVESTMENT I MADE
I love this raincoat. It's perfect on those days when it's to windy for an umbrella, as a matter of fact it's perfect when it's not windy. I never schlep an umbrella any more. All the wrinkles shake right out after taking it out of it's pocket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by KEKD Great little coat
Took this coat to France and Ireland. Travels small, covers layered sweaters and coats. Perfect for fast walking around town and over hills. However, cracking around neck shoulders as outercoat peels from inner coat. (My husband's is fine.)
So Bean is replacing it and I have it ready to send. The problem is that they no longer make the one I bought so upped the model and price $20. Oh well. Still a great little coat and I want another.

Rated 1 out of 5 by elisecordie It is Not waterproof!!
I bought this raincoat for a sailing trip in Croatia but did not use it because we didn't have any rain. (It was meant to be a light jacket as I did not want to use heavier sailing clothing). I took the coat on a Weekend hiking trip in Bavaria. The first day hiking 25 Km there was a light rain. After approx. 1 1/2 hours the lightweight fleece underneath the jacket was wet. I was not wet to the skin but nevertheless the jacket was not waterproof and a huge disappointment. I kept saying to myself that after 30 years of buying LLBean products, I was really disappointed with this purchase. Love the Color and love the length but it is not a raincoat. I have to agree with another reviewer - buy Goretex if you want to be sure....on the other hand, my LLBean rain pants are fabulous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by grandmaofAanl Really is water resistant!
I bought this raincoat last year but we haven't really had enough heavy rain to see if it is truly water resistant. We recently have had record-breaking rainfall in CO and I wore this nearly every day for about a week and it really proved itself. I also wore it on vacation on the north coast of Oregon where it rained nearly everyday and, again, I stayed dry the entire time. We take our dog so we have to walk him, rain or shine! It isn't warm and needs a layer under if it is cool but an LL Bean fleece under it worked well. My husband has the jacket length and he too stayed dry. It is something that one may not need often but it is great to have for those times when it really rains!

Rated 1 out of 5 by pikpockets Nylon tent!
Bought this raincoat to replace an old LLB slicker I loved and lost. What a downgrade in quality and increase in price all rolled into one. No vents. Flimsy Hot and sticks to your skin. Big, like a cheap nylon tent flapping around your body. I will say, this zipper works better than the old one. It's on it's way back to Maine and I'm shopping elsewhere after all these years.
