Rated 4 out of 5 by NMDreamer They do run large...
I am pear shaped, so much so that I find it hard to find pants that fit. I bought these in XL expecting them to just fit over my hips. To my surprise, they fit very generously over a pair of sweatpants, with plenty of room besides. I'm going to try L and see if they are any better. If not, I guess both pairs go back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by NHDog Great rain pants
I love these pants. My other rain pants (not LLBean) were too tight in the elastic waist. I wanted something that was roomy to wear over regular pants for mid-day walks in bad weather. The LL Bean pants do the job very well. They do run a little long for me but that was an easy fix with tightening the velcro at the ankle. Some reviewers thought they ran too big but they work well for me. I bought a size M and I'm 5' 3" and about 145 lbs.

My wife got a misses medium and they fit perfect. She is 5'3" and 140 lbs. She wears them over jeans and they are comfortable and waterproof. They are more durable than the ones she got last year from Cabelas.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Gr8ceer Cheap Foam Cord Stop
I expected the high standard of L.L. Bean finishes when I purchased these rain pants. I was extremely disappointed to find a cheap ineffective piece of foam used as a cord stop on the waistband cord. Please bring back the higher quality plastic/spring mechanism that was a feature on all of your cords for years. I was forced to purchase a decent cord stop so that my pants would stay up!

Rated 5 out of 5 by NCSue Great fit, waterproof
I read the reviews and wasn't sure how they would fit. On me the small is perfect, 5'5", 125 pounds. Easily slip over my shoes and other pants. Hope they truly are windproof. They have kept me dry and offered another layer for warmth so far. Easily slip into backpack or luggage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Quincy227 They don't run all that big.
Based on reviews that claimed these pants ran large, were enormous, or huge, I ordered a medium, I am border line medium and large. They were too small. Had to send them back for a large. They seem very nicely made, can't wait to get the correct size. I have never experienced llbean clothes being strangely sized, I guess I'll see when the large come in. I hope they arrive before the next rainy day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DreamLumos Perfect for hiking
We went hiking in Scotland where we could expect every season in a day. My roommate and I both bought these and couldn't have been happier. They slipped right over our pants and kept is warm and dry. They ARE NOT flattering, but they keep you dry, which is the whole point. I am 5'4, 120 lbs, and I bought a small: they were a little baggy but I don't know if the XS would have fit over other pants so well. Drop any vanity and love these very functional rain pants :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by CRWinNYC Great Rain Pants, but Run Large
This is my 2nd pair of Trail Model Rain Pants after 15 years of use from the 1st pair! They are excellent at keeping my pants dry when walking to work in the pouring rain. Only complaint is that they run large. The first pair was a Wmns Reg Large (I was heavier then), the 2nd is a Wmns PET Medium, the sizes are the same, kinda long and large in the leg width. The only difference is the new one have a back mesh pocket (nice touch) with a Velcro close, and waist drawcord has a soft toggle not the hard plastic like the 1st pair. I was hoping for a shorter length with petite, but I can adjust with the Velcro ankle strap. I still absolutely love these rain pants and enjoy staying dry! Great product!

Rated 3 out of 5 by dogtracker terrible fit
The pants are great but just a heads up to anyone buying them, they are huge. I bought size S in petite. I'm 5'2" and wear size 10 and these pants are much to long and huge on me!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Mirabel poor sizing
I had purchased some rain pants from LL Bean 10 years ago, size small, that have been great. They are pretty worn by now so I came to look for the exact same thing. These appeared to be the very same pants only now, the size is totally different. The small is enormous. They are in fact the same pants but LL Bean has changed its sizes to make you feel like you are wearing a smaller size than you really are. Calling a Medium a Small doesn't make you small. It's silly. I returned them and won't buy from LL Bean again with sizes that are so inconsistent with how everyone else uses the term. Shouldn't need a size chart for Adult S, M, L... These should be consistent with other brands.
