I bought these pants to hike in Glacier National Park in three weeks. I have worn them several times and have washed and dried them twice. So far, they are just what I expected and need. Because there is a tie at the bottom of each pant leg it is almost impossible to shorten them; however, you can tighten the tie to keep pant legs off the ground. I have hiked in hot weather (85-90 deg.) and they were comfortable. They come out of the drier pretty much wrinkle free (plenty good enough for hiking). They have a little stretch and could be worn for casual wear, as well. I am 5'4" about 160 lbs. The pants are a little long, but with the ties, they work well and fit over hiking boots. The real bonus is the elastic in the waist that can be pulled as tight as you need to keep the pants from gaping.

I bought a second pair of these pants because I find myself reaching for them on all but the hottest days. These pants fit just right slightly below the waist, but not too low. They are quick-drying, but also look polished enough to wear out and about doing errands. And then there is the floral ribbon detailing inside the zipper. Nice touch!

I have been searching for a good pair of hiking pants and I believe I've finally found them. Although I just received them and I haven't used them yet, my review will be based on overall look, feel and fit.
First off, I really liked these pants when I found them online, but deciding on which size to choose was quite a chore. After reading hundreds of the reviews here, I found there were various contradicting reviews regarding size, and to make things worse some reported that the sizes varied between the different colors. It would be helpful if reviewers stated which size fit them related to measurements and height. Since I couldn't find sufficient information to help me pick a size, I ended ordering petite sizes 6 and 8 in the black and ash colors, knowing that I'll end up sending back at least 2 pairs.
I'm a petite 5 foot gal, weighing 115 lbs., natural waist size 29", waist at belly button level 33", abdomen (below belly button) 34", hip at widest point 37", thighs 21". The size 6, in both the ash and black color, was perfect for me. The rise fit me right at the belly button level, although they are a little big, I prefer them that way , since it gives me plenty of room to put on a pair or two of long underwear for hiking in colder weather. When not needing the extra room there is an elastic band at the waist which you can pull and secure with a button to make the waist smaller.
I removed 1 star because the overall fit is a little baggier than I personally like, but on the upside they are soft and comfortable which is great for hiking. The other pluses that I really appreciate are the pockets which are roomy and 3 of the 5 have zippers. The two pockets on the front that don't have zippers are very deep. Also, there is an elastic band on the hem which allows you to tighten the hem close to your ankle if you wish. Surprisingly the length was absolutely spot on for me. I did read some reviewers complaining about there being a swishing noise when walking, but I certainly did not find it as loud or annoying as some mentioned.
I will be traveling to New England and Nova Scotia this fall and I'm sure these pants will be perfect for this trip.

Have been on several hikes in these pants & am very pleased with this purchase. They fit as expected (trim line w/comfort), look good and are made of a durable fabric which washes and wears beautifully. Also, am impressed with the quality seams and pocket zippers. In fact, like them so much, will be packing a pair for a Fall trip to Scotland.

I had to buy the next size up on these compared to my usual Bean clothes. I love them: the fit, the comfort, and they come in a 31" length, which is better for me than having to choose between 30" and 32". Bought a second pair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by piperchar Great comfy pants!
I bought these for the excursions we will be taking on an upcoming cruise to Alaska. The 2-way stretch makes them soooo comfortable!! I am a 2X, and bought the size 22W ro ensure that they did not fit like a second skin. I am very pleased with these pants, and am planning on buying more in different colors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LyndaPolk Comfortable and functional, LOVE the pockets
These are extremely comfortable. They stretch and move with you, no binding or tightness. Be prepared for a pretty low rise however, which makes the back pockets ride pretty low under your booty. I originally bought these because they had the extra cargo pocket on the leg which wasn't a traditional "patch" pocket just stuck on. This makes them look more professional. Love the low-profile zippers also, you can totally wear them in a casual office environment. There are only 2 downsides I experienced. First, they attract pet hair like a magnet. I have a husky-mix dog, and I constantly have to use a lint roller to remove her long wiry hair, even after being around her a few minutes. Second, the fabric does not "breathe", so they are very warm to wear. This is probably great for LL Bean territory, but for July in Texas they don't work for outdoors. Fortunately, I bought them to wear to the office. And they will probably be fine in the fall/winter/spring down here. I would definitely recommend them overall.
