shoe is very stiff feeling, so requires some "break in" time. Otherwise, seems to be comfortable.

Fit is good. Just what I was looking for. Glad your salesperson was able to help me find the right size for me since I have a small foot with high arch and high instep. It works for me when I am on my treadmill. Thank you llBean.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MidnightBlue Didn't work for me
These might work well for some people(my rating is based on the fact they did not work for me at all). I certainly had high hopes for them for my hard to fit, problem feet and many positive reviwws. I have very wide toes and very narrow heels and I had researched (elsewhere?note to LL Bean: please list the last a shoe is made on if a company uses different ones for different shoes such as NB does!) and seen that these were made on the NB SL-2 last, which has these features.
Problem is I also have a "low volume" foot?I have a normal arch but flattish everywhere else. And these were way way too high/deep, even with an orthotic in and trying various ways of lacing them. Also huge around the instep, too wide there in addition to too deep.
They did fit my very wide forefront (ordered wide) and almost my heel?still a little loose but probably could have made work with lacing techniques. I use to love NB shoes but it seems they no longer make a fit that works for my foot. They seem to have gotten progressively deeper over the years (Im talking about the SL-2 last)
So if you have a very deep/high volume foot (and maybe orthotics too) in addition to wide toes and narrow heels, they might work. They are big & clunky-looking, but I wouldn't have cared if they had fit. I'm desperate for some walking or even running shoes that fit & are comfortable.
I noticed they felt quite stiff (leather isn't very soft, almost feels like plastic though apparently it's not, so I assume it would get softer with wear) and the tongue is rather short if you need to use the extra set of eyelets on top so the shoe lace slips off. I would put up with these things if they fit me. But unfortunately my search continues... Writing this detailed review in the hopes it will help someone else in terms of what to expect re: the fit.

The soles on these shoes broke on both shoes with a deep crack from side to side. They made an unpleasant noise when I walked in them. I had to throw them away before they were worn out. I'm sure it is a problem with New Balance, not with LLBean.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Bales NB has cheapen these sneakers so much they're junk
I have ordered these sneakers for years. They have always been comfortable, given me the support I need and like, and were perfect for all the exercise walking that I do. I really really loved them. Recently, I ordered a new pair and they not only squeaked--they SQUEAKED!! It was embarrassing. LLBean customer service,of course, was outstanding and exchanged them for a new pair. Sadly, these new sneakers also SQUEAK. It is awful and ruins the peaceful rhythm one tries to achieve while walking. I tried wearing them just around the house but the noisy squeak is so annoying. Now, I'm stuck with a pair of sneakers that I hate. I definitely do NOT recommend the NB 577 walking shoe. I am now researching other sneakers.

I was so looking forward to these shoes after reading reviews, but they do not have the support I was looking for. Even with heel cups my heel slips and the shoe overall is not as comfortable as past NB models I have worn, models no longer available. I wanted them for walking my dog - we usually do 2 miles in 30 min most mornings. I ordered both my regular size and a half size larger - the larger size is too big even with thick socks so those are going back.

These shoes were comfortable right out of the box. I did order a half size up. They have sufficient support and cushion. Good all around shoe.

I am hard to fit shoe-wise. I have long, very wide feet from arthritis and neuropathy. I haven't worn tennis shoes in over 3 years because I could find any to fit me. I finally found them! These are comfortable, fit well, fashionable, and I will be buying more. I am so thankful to finally have shoes I can wear instead of socks with men's sandals (I live in Colorado so it gets mighty cold here; now I can wear SHOES!).

Rated 5 out of 5 by Outdoorlover2 super comfortable
I bought these at the outlet in black when I was starting a new job; generally wear a 6.5-7.5 but got these in size 8.5 wide! They are a little big, but do not have a painful crease that forms on top of the foot where the toes meet, as some shoes worn a bit big tend to do, and I'm definitely not tripping over a too-long length. These are probably the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. They look nice for work but are comfy like slippers. I walk/hike/run on my lunch break and I could see how the top would break open easily, I have stubbed my toes on tree roots and worried about that, but so far 5 months in, I've worn them every day and they are great, no rips. I definitely recommend them. (I blacked out the gold 'New Balance' on the heel with marker to be even plainer for work)
