Rated 5 out of 5 by BD77 Wonderful, the second time around!
This is a pricey item and I had held off for quite a while before ordering. I decided to treat myself, particularly since I value LLBean product quality. Excited when it arrived, I was extremely disappointed when the holes on the rocker arm were off center and could not be attached. The positive however, was that when I called, the phone was answered by a REAL PERSON, who was extremely helpful and gracious. She immediately send me out a replacement as well as a return label for the defective chair. The new one arrived today and although it took a bit of muscle, I had no trouble putting it together by myself in less than an hour. It is beautiful and well worth it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Topsham Frustrating assembly and poorly cut pieces.
This rocker really is lovely to look at but putting it together is not just a simple matter of a few minutes. The holes are not well drilled and the fit of the pieces is not perfect. The directions were a little too abbrieviated as well, causing me to make a mistake in assembly.
Perhaps if I had had a working drill to put the hex piece into it would have gone more quickly but I spent over an hour at it and now have to take part of it apart to put the seat in.
When I spend this much on a piece of outdoor furniture, and extra for delivery, I think it should be very simple to assemble or pre-assembled.
Not what I usually expect from Beans.

Winniwoman Assembly and Quality Problems
We have 2 of these All-Weather Presidential Rockers. As a product, I would have given these chairs 5 stars, but because of the poor way they were produced and the difficult assembly required, my rating went down to only 2 stars.
It took me 4 hours to put the first rocker together! It took me 1-1/2 hours to put together the second rocker and that was only because I learned from the first one that I had to drill out myself all the holes that were *supposed* to be pre-drilled. (Note that I do a lot of carpentry work, so I am quite familiar with this sort of thing.)
Particular problems I encountered in the assembly of these rockers consisted of the following:
1) Most of the holes where the screws were to insert were not completely drilled through and they were *all* undersized for the screws in both chairs. (See photo illustration.)
2) Because the screws were over-sized for the holes, 4 of them were stripped in the process of screwing them in. Also, on one chair one screw was missing.
3) A round ball finial is supposed to be inserted into the "hole provided" in each of the back supports. No holes were provided in any of the chair supports.
4) One of the horizontal top parts of the back support did not properly fit into the notch in the vertical support as the others did. That is, it was not flush against the support.
5) Finally, the horizontal dowel under the seat in one of the chairs is bowed.
We spent $728.00 on these 2 chairs that were neither possible to assemble as directed nor of the quality expected from Bean's.

We bought two, in black, for our back patio. They are extremely comfortable, classy in appearance, and a beautiful asset to our outdoor seating. I wish LLBean had more outdoor furniture options in black. Would definitely purchase other pieces.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ShopperDi Lovely in the end....................
We love love love the finished product, but putting the two chairs together was close to a nightmare. Do NOT think that the assembly can be done by one person alone and do NOT think that you can tighten the "screws" unless you have incredible strength. The use of hex head screws using a 4 mm. allen wrench instead of "normal" screws made it even harder since they stripped easily and we couldn't use a cordless drill. In this day and age, it seemed like an antiquated way to do things. I still gave it a 4 star because they turned out beautifully. Just be aware that the assembly is far from average.

This is a lot of money for two rockers but I trust Bean's judgement of quality merchandise and I know they will make it right if I am not happy. I would never purchase these from any other company on the internet. Bean is different and I hope they never change. The rockers are comfortable, well built, and easy to assemble. A great product except for one small assembly item. The seats have nice metal inserts for stainless steel screws that are not used. The seat just rests in dowel holes in the plastic sides. No holes should be drilled for the seats. The seat screw female inserts are not used or needed. The temptation to drill a hole and insert a screw in the edge and into the hole is overwhelming and I read several reviews where this was done. However - it is not needed and there are no screws in the packet to use. That said - I hope this helps someone avoid a mistake. Bean was nice about returning my call etc. Did I mention how great these rockers are! Very nice!

The rockers are very comfortable and are holding up well. We bought them in black, and I love the way they look. I just wish LL Bean would make other all-weather furniture in the black - such as tables - to match them.

Extremely happy with the comfort, design and size of the rocker. My husband put it together very quickly. The rocker is on an open, covered porch. It's really beautiful and I'm so happy that I finally ordered it. No regrets at all!

The chair was as I hoped. Perfect for our screened-in porch . While it is a protected area, the weather can still effect the furniture out there!!!!
