Rated 5 out of 5 by blisslightjoy Perfect for Vermont Winters
I also own a pair of the 8 inch Bean Boots, but this winter I've needed something much taller. I must say these boots are PERFECT if you live in an area with lots of snow or slush on the ground. These boots are even more comfortable than my regular Bean boots due to the heavenly shearling lining. Also, they are so beautiful! I like them because they are practical but a bit more fashionable and unique than my standard Bean boots. I have a narrow heel and I usually wear an 8.5. The size 8 fits me perfectly! As for the laces, I did not find they took very much time at all to deal with. I just slipped my feet right in. Well worth the money if you have to wade through several inches of snow every day for months....I only wish I'd gotten these sooner! Love the color, too -- it's classic yet stands out a bit. Highly recommended for those in search of a fashionable yet functional tall winter boot.

My feet are so cold! This does not seem to be the common thread here, but even though I LOVE how they look, it looks like I'll have to return them. I just spent 20 mins trying to warm up my feet after only five minutes of being outside :( My calves are happy because they are so tall and snuggly, but my toes are icicles. If you are particularly prone to the cold, I would not recommend.

by CarolinaG My feet are in love...
This review is for the Signature Shearling Lined Bean Boots Women's, 8, Medium B, Dark Cranberry. I absolutely LOVE how warm these boots are and how cool they look. At first, I had my reservations because of the reviews on how long it would take to lace up the boots, but honestly it hasn't been that bad at all. And knowing how warm and cozy my feet are in them is worth the few extra seconds it takes to lace them up. I think I have poor circulation or something because during the winter my feet become extremely cold, but these do a great job of keeping them comfortable. I'm regularly a size 9 in women's shoes, and I always size down for L.L.Bean Boots so I got an 8 and they fit perfect.

Unbelievably warm and well-made- I can see Margie in Fargo in these babies. I bought the cranberry which is an oxblood color- very unusual and attractive with the contrasting natural shearling lining. These boots are very retro in their styling and construction- heirloom quality. Yes, they do take time to lace up but well-worth the effort. A zipper would ruin the look- please do not put in a zipper or change a thing for that matter LLB. Love them!

I live in the NY tri-state area and if this winter is like last, I will thank the stars that I have these boots. I previously had Sorels and they were clunky, heavy and if there wasn't 2 feet of snow, they had no traction, which was fun commuting on public transport. So I decided after two years I needed an upgrade and got these boots.
Like others have said, the craftsmanship is amazing. The feel substantial, yet light. The shearling lines all of the inside of the boot, from toe up the calf. the leather is soft. It's a really well-made boot. They are snug when you put them on but the shearling will pack down on use.
I got a size 11, which I know will be too big eventually but with socks, I should be fine. Like TorontoSkim, I was looking for a boot that would meet my coat so that my legs would be covered. I am 5'10" and the boot comes to the top of my calf. So this boot might be a little long for shorter ladies.
Though I hate to pay full price, these boots are worth it and I think I'll have them for a long time!

So I have used these boots up here in Canada (Toronto to be exact) for the past winter season, which is still going strong! 15cm of snow yesterday. I wanted to give my thoughts on these great boots.
Yes they look fabulous on, No they don't take 15mins to get on and off. I tie mine so I just have enough space to snuggly slip them off and on.
Yes the bottoms are fully waterproof, but the Gusset (the thing that seals the space between the tongue and the boot) on the tongue of the boot only goes to the second eyehole. So avoid trudging through snow or deep puddles. I've definitely gotten snow in my boots this season. It would probably help if I tightened them 100% but even then some water and snow will be able to sneak in. Taller gusset is a must for us Canadian Gals.
Yes the wooly lining goes all the way to the tips of your toes. So if you get your boots and they feel a bit snug don't worry they will pack down. For winters though these boots seem like they could use some more insulation. There is no insulation in between the rubber and the wool so if you're standing around in snow and on Ice your feet will get cold. A layer of insulation would be a great upgrade.
What I love about these boots are how tall they are. They meet up with my jacket and that way my legs are fully covered. All and all if you get more drizzle then snow and ice in the winters your feet should be happy. But I would like some insulation and a higher gusset and these would be perfect. I use them everyday out here and add those toe warmers on really cold days. But on days that only go to about -2 celsius they work perfectly! And did i mention they are beautiful?

Rated 3 out of 5 by KateFromNY Breaking them in is key!
In general, I really like these boots, but there are a few issues with the product. I should preface this review by saying the quality is amazing. The main issues are all sizing / design related.
The first, which other reviewers have noted, is that they take a long long time to put on and take off. However, if you're like me, this may be worth it if you hate being cold. These boots certainly keep you warm in exchange for the long lacing time.
The second issue is that the ankle is very stiff. If you have thin feet or ankles, you'll need to lace them very very tight to keep them from being too bulky. This isn't a problem if you're wearing them to drive places, but if you are walking, hiking or hunting this may be an issue because either you will get rubbing or your feet will get tired/ache.
The last issue, which I think has been the biggest problem for me, is that when I first received the boots they fit great. But, over the year that I've owned them, I've broken in the fur and they are now too big. My big recommendation for anyone is that these boots take a long time to break in, but once you do it's worth it. Buy them at LEAST one size too small. If they fit right when you buy them, they will be way too big once you've walked in them for awhile.

Rated 2 out of 5 by eleniscloset 20 plus minutes to lace them, but they look good.
I love these boots, They are warm and stylish. However, it takes so long to put them on AND take them off that they are more of a nuisance than it is worth. They need to have a zipper on the side in addition to the laces to make them more practical.

I bought these boots 2 years ago and returned them :( I loved the way they looked but I don' have 20 minutes in the morning to lace footwear. Seems a natural step would be to put a zipper in them so once you have the laces where you want them you can zip in and out of the easily. Let me know when they do and I'll immediately purchase another pair! - I'd even pay an additional 50 bucks for the zip version :)

During a visit to your flagship LLBean store in Freeport, Maine this past weekend, I spotted the iconic, tall LLBean hunting boot. When I reached for the boot and discovered it was lined in shearling - I knew that I had found the ultimate winter boot! Luxury, extreme comfort, and superb craftsmanship that LLBean is famous for. Sizing was easy - I normally wear a 7.5 and I went down 1/2 size to a 7. They really are the best boots I have ever bought, and worth every penny. Thank you!
Now.......if you would just make these tall boots with a removable Gore-Tex liner - I would buy a pair for bird hunting (hint, hint). Brown please :)
