I bought this product almost 2 years a go. Until I bought this, I was buying a book bag every other month throughout the school year because the straps would break, zipper got stuck, material ripped, holes appeared. Then I ordered from LL Bean. We are in the middle of the second school year and this bag, and the matching lunch box, are still going strong. I offered to buy my son a new one this school year just so it would be brand spanking new. He said, "no thanks." My son never turns down anything new!!!

We were extremely happy with our backpack purchase. He got to pick a cool design that looked like a navy blue wave/camo combo. It has multiple compartments and feels really sturdy. He demolished his original backpack bought in a department store so we knew we needed a higher quality bag. We found it. We were originally afraid that it might be a touch a big for my kindergarten kiddo but he handles it just fine. I also love the lifetime guarantee. I know we have the bag that will take all the way through elementary school.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SophieR Sophie's backpack
As usual, the backpack is sturdy and well-designed. Sophie is five years old and will make excellent use of this item. These are the best backpacks in the world. No doubt it will receive years of hard wear going to and from school and general daily use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Redheadedmom Just the right size
Not to big for a slightly built 8yr old girl. Not to tall, but able to drop a 2 1/2 inch-three ring binder in with no trouble at all. That was our goal. We would recommend this highly. Little girls like this print and her 13 yr old sister thought it was cool, too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by NoCal2013 Love L.L. Bean!
I bought the original book bag plus in July 2013 and my daughter was ready for the year. Now that it's December 2013 I decided to wash it up. Well, for whatever reason the strap broke that held the shoulder strap to the backpack. I called up L.L. Bean and immediately was told they would send out the same bag as a replacement since the item was defective. I'm returning the defective item and I'm so happy they are replacing it! I knew their products were worth the extra money and this proves that my decision to purchase from L.L. Bean was worth it! I will be buying another one in a year for my other child since they have proven they stand by their products.

I have owned this backpack since kindergarten. than in 3rd grade I gave it to my little brother to use for a few years. then I used it from 5th grade until I outgrew it. and today, I still use the backpack for sleepovers, field trips and camp. after almost 9 years my camouflage original plus backpack is still holding strong and looks almost new! I plan to use this backpack for many years to come.

Got this pack and another one for my daughter when she starts 3rd grade. Nice material and pattern and will be plenty big for 3rd grade. Like to see it has the water bottle mesh side.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Patwy Backpacks that Last
My 9 year old granddaughter blew her back to school backpack out in the first 7 weeks of school. I remember getting her mom backpacks from LL Bean that lasted years so I invested in a pink one. Granddaughter is thrilled and backpack is great. Expands to carry her lunch box and jacket with books and papers included. Looking forward to completing elementary before needing another.
