I bought this product almost 2 years a go. Until I bought this, I was buying a book bag every other month throughout the school year because the straps would break, zipper got stuck, material ripped, holes appeared. Then I ordered from LL Bean. We are in the middle of the second school year and this bag, and the matching lunch box, are still going strong. I offered to buy my son a new one this school year just so it would be brand spanking new. He said, "no thanks." My son never turns down anything new!!!

I bought this backpack and my daughter and I love it! She has used it for school, trips, and everything else inbetween and it still looks brand spanking new!! I will give it a quick wash and she will reuse it next year! Great quality and the prints are still vibrant on the backpack and lunch pack. Way to go LLBean!

All of my kids have been using their original school bags for years. My oldest daughter received her school bag in September of 2nd grade. Next year when she starts 7th grade, she will be using it again. It looks clean and in good shape. I would suggest you get the original plus bags with the black bottom for better wear results - will hide the dirt when thrown on the floor and is made of very sturdy (rip proof) material.

Bought this for my 6 (almost 7) year old grandchild. It was a huge hit and a perfect fit. It's nicely made (although i preferred the old-school zippers with no fabric cover). I'm sure it will still be in use next school year.

It is great, I just wish they would put a smoother zipper in this backpack. I would rather pay just a bit more and have the zipper heavy duty for rapid opening and closing

Gave this to my girlfriend for Christmas and she loves it!!! Comfortable, a lot of different pockets and reflective tape on the back. Perfect as she walks to work early in the morning!! Great product and I may just have to buy one for myself!

Perfect size! Fits everything needed for school and all the snow gear! My 5 yr old lovesthe color/pattern. I love the durability!! (And the side pocket for the water bottle) My son has the same one and it has lasted for an entire year! We've never had a bag last him more than 6 months (and it still looks great)!! Can't beat the lifetime guarantee!!

I'm a senior in San Francisco, where almost everyone, 5 - 85 carries a back pack. On public transportation, while walking or shopping, it's just far more convenient and comfortable to have hands free. This one is a good size for me, for daily use. I carry a book to read, small snacks, a hat and scarf in anticipation of night time cold, bags for carrying my shopping home (no more plastic bags here, YAY!), and of course can put small items I've bought into it, too.
So, tho billed as a student pack, it's a good size for me. The ergo straps and padded back make it comfortable, too. However, the color choices are too limited. The bright red and bright blue looked too bright, black gets hot in the summer, so I settled for the camo like print. I'm calling it City camo. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only urban adult to use this pack, and wish there were other colors available such as grey, maroon, navy blue, heather (not bright) green -- you're getting the idea?
I've had other Bean packs in the past, so I expect this one to last a long time. But the price is so good, I would buy another if new colors were offered.

I bought this backpack for my daughter who is in the 5th grade in August. The bag already has a tear in one of the side seams. I spent the extra money on a name brand bag this year thinking the quality would be worth the extra money and was sadly mistaken. I would have been better off buying a cheap character bag in the store. The quality of L.L. Bean's backpacks are not worth the money considering they don't even last for one school year.
