I'd finally found jeans that fit well and looked great. That was up until they changed the style of these jeans about year ago. They changed the opening of the leg from 18" to 16" and it seems that they are using a lighter weight "thinner" material. They wear out a whole lot quicker than the ones I was buying 2+ years ago.

These were probably the worst pair of jeans I have ever purchased from LL Bean. They basically fell apart after about 9 months. I was so disgusted I threw them out instead of sending them back. I will be sticking to the double L jeans instead.
I'm not sure why, but the overall quality of the items I've purchased from LL Bean seems to have taken a serious nosedive in recent years. The stuff just does not hold up as well as it used to. It's disappointing to say the least and it had long time customers like me looking elsewhere for quality items.

My husband bought these jeans in bleached canvas and loved them. Unfortunately I threw them in the dryer and they shrunk an inch. Came back to buy new ones and found they're being discontinued. If you liked these jeans and want them to return (hopefully with some improvements and in Tall) let LL Bean customer service know. They have taken customer requests into consideration in the past.

Rated 1 out of 5 by ItsVirginia they'll wear out FAST
Yes the fit is perfect - but my husband and I are very disappointed with these jeans - we expected BETTER QUALITY from LL Bean. The cotton is not good quality so they wear out quickly, splitting across both knees, from normal use. This is unacceptable!
LL Bean should switch manufacturers, and have them made in the USA.

by StarrFavreRodgers RIP!
I used to love these jeans. The fit was great and they wore well. The fit is still great out of the package, but the last three pair I've bought have stretched out and even a round in a dryer (we don't use the dryer regularly) doesn't shrink them back to a good fit. Also, the fabric along the seams and edges of the pockets, waist, and zipper has frayed to threads. And, from the knees to the mid-thigh the fabric has pilled up. I wear suits or slacks most weekdays and Sundays, so even though these jeans are a couple of years old, they basicaly only see use on Friday nights and Saturdays.
A couple of weeks back, I knelt to take a photo and both knees ripped out in one pair. I don't crawl on the ground or floor, or sit on my knees, so I was surprised they tore so easily. Then tonight, when taking my seat on a plane, I reached down to put a little slack in the leg and when I pulled up on it the material tore.
There was a time when I would have been thrilled with baggy, shredded jeans, but that's not really my style these days. I won't buy another pair of these until I read that the quality of the fabric has been improved.

These fit well, with enough room for movement without being overly baggy. The rise is perfect for me as well, not modern low-slung but also not high-waisted. I appreciate the slightly lighter weight fabric for warm weather wear. I'm returning for more pairs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Pbox I wish I could like these more, but I can't.
Let me start by saying that these are good-looking, well-fitting jeans. No question. They really do fit well and they have a true straight leg cut, unlike the Double-L jeans (which claim to be straight leg but are actually ridiculously tapered). Having said that, I have to also say that the denim of these jeans is most definitely of lower quality than the Double-Ls. Whereas the Double-L jeans are fairly heavy and more rugged, these are much thinner and possibly less durable (durability remains to be seen, I just got them).
LL Bean -- You have GOT to make the Double-L jeans in the cut of the 1912 jeans!

Rated 2 out of 5 by JamesH Small Pockets
I think the jeans are well made and comfortable, but the front pockets are too narrow. I can't get my hands into the pockets, I do have big hands but never had any problems with any other pants I have owned to get my hands in the pockets. It is a real hassle, please redesign!

Rated 1 out of 5 by SWISSFRANK PREMIUM denim???
As far as I'm concerned there's nothing about this denim that even somewhat suggests "premium" quality. In fact, you responded to another review saying this fabric was not quite as heavy as the other jeans in your line-up. (Not QUITE? Not NEARLY!!!) Maybe you find no correlation between the weight of a fabric and its quality, but I do. I'm always willing to pay for premium quality, but strongly challenge your using such terminology in the advertising of these jeans. Let the buyer beware!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Brettd Front Pockets are very small
Jeans look great and are made of very nice fabric but... I can't get my hands in the pockets.
I bought these to have a pair of more dressy jeans and I have loved all my past LLB jeans unfortunately these won't work. I'm a big guy and my mitts don't even come close to fitting. No retrieving keys or cell phones without a pair of tongs ;)
