I live in this sweater a large part of the winter, and just ordered my second one because the neck had frayed...my wife wears the old one now in evenings just to kick around the house. The lining makes it largely impervious to the wind, and I wear it with a down vest as we take a 3-mile walk most evenings in an upstate NY winter. It's too bulky to wear under a coat and can be a bit cumbersome to remove when going into a warm room but the wool is extremely durable and hard wearing. It can be washed--and should be--maybe once a year. Plus, it looks great.

Great quality, winds topper lining is perfect and is just like the Barbour equivalent at a third of the price. Nice detailing, perfect fit.

I have 4 windstopper sweaters from a competitor that I have had many years. I wear them everyday as i have fybermialgia and they do not rub on my skin. The competitors sweaters have a tendency to get "short" over time also they the quality has deteriorated. Consequently I decided to try LL Beans.
Yes they are noisy when handling them, not sure why as my others are not. Once on the noise goes away as the windstopper is not rubbing against it's self.
The first thing i noticed was that the sweater's physical weight is much heavier than the other sweaters. The second thing I notices was it's great looks. I got the light tan sweater, it has dark brown accent around the collar and is extremly well looking.
The sweater is "chain woven" which concerns me as inbetween the chains the sweater is thin. So time will tell how warm it is. The competitors are such I can wear them full time in the house and still go out side without a coat in New York winters. I wear them instead of a jacket when waterfowl hunting when it is well below freezing temp. So far inside this sweater seems to be warmer than the others, which stands to reason as it is much heavier.
First thing I missed is no breast pocket. The next thing i noticed was that the zipper is shorter so I can not reach my shirt pocket through it. I find I have to lift the sweater to put something in my pocket.
Overall, I think the sweater is a very good product and great looking. No breast pocket, short zipper is keeping it from being a 5 and excellent product.

This is the warmest best sweater ever!
It laughs at the cold.
It is easy to slip on and off and perfect by itself on not so cold days or under a jacket on colder days.
I am cheap and picky so trust me when I say buy it you will not regret

Rated 5 out of 5 Waterfowl sweater with Windstopper
25 Dec 2013 St. Paul, MN
I received the Waterfowler sweater just in time for the current "bracing" weather (-20F wind chill). With my wind-resistant XL jacket, this sweater keeps me toasty and happy during multiple dog walks starting at 5:30 AM. Zipper is good quality. Just what I needed.

Warm but a bit noisy, hey its windstopper so got to be careful when you move. Fits under my camo jacketrain gear for late season archery and muzzleloader seasons and I can sit longer in any weather. Will use it later in the winter for a great top to snow shoe in. Just a good solid piece of gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BhamCotton cold weather sweater
This is the best article of outerwear I have purchased to date. I work outside every day so on cold windy days you want something that is going to block the wind. This sweater does the trick and is not burdensome and bulky.

The sweater is definitely warm. I like the color. It didn't occur to me that the windproofing would be achieved with a nylon-like lining...that rustles when one moves. My only real complaint is that there is an excessive amount of liner material in the sleeves. The liner actually pokes out at the wrists when I pull the sweater on. I have to reach up inside the sweater, into the sleeve, & tug the liner back up. I would've given the sweater an excellent rating except for the sleeve liner problem. It's still a keeper.

Really nice, well made sweater with lining to block out the wind. Lining is silky and makes slipping the sweater on a dream. Good clear blue color, simple brown trim adds interest without too much jazzy stuff (which I hate). Now on the way through the Northwest Passage.
