Like most guys I have used many lights through the years. SureFire has come out as my first choice for any kind of lighting. This Saint Minimus Headlamp gives me hands-free utility and shines pure white light on my tasks. Top notch quality!

Love the Surefire headlamp. I can dim it down for reading a book and make it very bright for tasks and I have lots of control on the angle of the beam of light. Just what I wanted. I would never have been able to buy this because of the high price, but I had LLBean coupons!

This headlamp is all business, which makes it extremely versatile to use. First, it is made of real, honest to God, metal. Only experience will tell however it looks like it will take one heck of a beating. It's extremely simple to operate, especially with gloves on. It has two ribbed, round swivel controls on either side of the lamp. One turns on the light and increases/decreases its intensity and the other moves the light vertically. It comes with a lithium ion battery which has more power than a standard battery and a shelf life of 10 years. If you get the rechargeable lithium-ion, unlike nickel cadmium batteries you can charge this one hundreds of times without filling up the chargeable memory. The battery is conveniently located behind the lamp on the front of your head, not encased in some plastic box on the back of your head with wiring running through the elastic band. This light has one elastic band, not the common "harness" network of straps most headlamps have so it will fit on almost anything very simply and easily. On its highest setting it is very bright. The lamp is recessed well inside the metal casing so it cannot be accidentally broken. Bottom line is, they thought of everything with this light. I would assume these various advantages are what pushed the price on this light much beyond the norm. But as far as my uses are concerned it's worth it.

I purchased this for my husband who needed a good light while holding something in both hands.
He is very satisfied with it!

Like others, I too believe that this headlamp is a little expensive. I figure that if it holds up like my other surefire products though, I will really get my use out of it. The light itself is bright, and unlike a flashlight, the beam is wide. Wide enough to light up your entire work area at a lower setting, and an entire room at the brightest setting. Battery life is decent with this light as well, though you should understand that it will not remain at full brightness for the 2 hours advertized. That simply means that if you keep the dial pinned at max, you will have 2 hours of useable light. It will diminish rapidly. The SOS feature is not something that is advertized much, but is an awesome addition if you could turn it on while injured. You have to rotate the dial on and off quickly, twice, then on again and it will begin blinking. Once it is in SOS mode, you can even adjust the brightness. A few things that I didn't like. The weight was unexpected. It's not heavy, but it's bulk is all forward and somewhat awkward. I have a small Petzel and I have hunted all day with it on my head, forgetting it was there. I'll look for the thing for 30 mins in my pack before I realize its right were it needs to be. This is not going to be easy to forget. Also, the area surrounding the actual LED is plastic. I don't like that. The LED gets hot when left on, and it's the most expensive component in the light aside from the rheostat that controls the brightness. I would have been happier with the aluminum and glass enclosure. All around good light from a great company.

A light with adjustable power and night vision filter mounted on a headband so comfortable you are likely to forget you have it on.
Holding a flashlight and working in low light conditions is a bad idea. Using this headlight makes difficult jobs like bringing firewood inside on a dark night, or moving boxes or furniture around in a badly lit attic or basement a lot easier and safer.
Can't imagine why I didn't buy one of these years ago.

I think the best headlamp out there. I have had a few. This is the second one I bought because I lost the first one. Very light, bright, and solid.

Wow, I finally have a headlamp with enough light. Very bright without the bulky rear battery pack. Shurefire did it again.

Though a little pricey it is worth it. Backpacking it weighs about the same as similar headlamps using alkaline batteries. It is incredibly brighter and the continuous brightness control and ability to easily rotate the light up or down keeps the light from shinning in the face of others. Further the recessed lamp and sturdy frame protect the lamp from damage when it is laying unused. It also lights up projects at home exceptionally well. It's great.
