Rated 1 out of 5 by Hocko Adjustable Tent/Awning Pole Set - Terrible Design
These adjustable poles do not retain a set lenght/height adjustment. One can initially fix the pole length, but with the least disturbance (light wind, passing butterfly etc.) the adjustment control releases and the poles telescope back into each other.
This is a very poorly conceived design, it is "made to fail"!
Secondarily other manufacturers of this item have a retail price of $9.50 ea, so for two that would be $19.00. Add to this 50 feet of paracute cord ~$4.00 and four plastic tent pegs ~$2.75) and you have a total of ~$25.75. Compare that to LLBeans price of $35.00 and there you have it - a totally unexceptable item at 30% more than comparable suppliers.
I have returned this item.
Why have I shopped at LLBean for over 40 years - I'm beginning to wonder!!

Aderondackguy almost perfect
These Adjustable poles are very sturdy and operate as stated. They should hold up for years if taken care of. These are replacement poles because the first, after only a couple of uses oxydized and were almost impossible to extend. LL Bean replaced them and i coated them with a small amount of silicone and will do so every year so this will not happen again. Thanks LL Bean for your great guarentee. I will continue to shop with you.

My purpose for ordering these items is to use with a mesh awning attached to my shed to lower the effects of a very hot sun while using a table saw or other tools during the hotter part of the day. Although the poles were back ordered several times, they were worth waiting for and will be put to good use. They are very strong and should last several years...most likely will out last several awnings!

Poor quality-- never even got to use these on my Woodlands Screen House. Right out of the box, one of the two poles would not stay extended. The metal sleeve that grips the middle section of the pole to keep it up was too large (or the pole was too small.)
I returned these the same day I received them. I should have paid attention to the two previous poor reviews, and saved myself the hassle and $6.50 return charge.

I bought these for use on the awning of my King Pine 4 man tent. The awning is light so these poles are quite adquate for the job. To eliminate the corrosion/oxidation problem one reviewer mentioned, I sprayed all sections of both poles with polyurethane. I had a $10.00 certificate, so the price was right. So far, so good!

I purchased these last summer to go with our screen house. The poles functioned properly and I really liked them but once it rained, they got super rusty! The cord that comes with is great, but I had to take this back : (

I don't what I expected, but I guess it was something different. I could have used the poles from our old, out-of-date tents instead of buying these. Also, the saplings I had in place before these arrived were just as functional. Or you could tie the tent awning to a tree for a better less intrusive way. In order to keep the poles up you must tie the corners of the tent flap down to stakes in the ground leading to more places for children to trip. also, you can't go away and leave the tent with the poles holding the flap (King Pine Tent) up because water from rain would just puddle in the flap. You can't get it really, really tight. That is really a problem with the tent, not these poles, but I guess I thought they would work seamlessly with the tent.
