The dog bed is awesome, my dog and my son love it - but it is WAY too big. If it weren't for the inconvenience of trying to package it up and return it, I probably would have exchanged it. Our 1 year old lab is between 80-90 pounds so we got a large. We could have easily used a medium since he's a curler not a sprawler. But, the flip side is, the larger bed allows my son space to get on there with the dog.

I have a 10 1/2 yr old cockapoo, she was having trouble jumping on bed, so I got this in hopes that she would find comfort in sleeping there. She loves it!

Be sure you get one large enough for the dog to completely stretch out!!
My dog loves the bolsters, on which she rests her head and neck frequently......she loves it, and will lie on it even though she is allowed up on the furniture and pretty much anywhere in the house. Its "her" bed!!

We have a 15 year old L.L. Bean dog bed that has seen extensive use. It keeps going strong and it still looks great. Tonight, we passed it on to an old blind Rottweiler who promptly curled up into it and fell asleep. It touched my soul to see that. Lots of great memories, courtesy of L.L. Bean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PWCLover Love Bed - Dislike Colors
My Pembroke Welsh Corgi absolutely loves this bed [size medium] as he loves to rest his head on the bolsters. It's his favorite bed and, believe me, he has quite a few of them.
I would like to order another one but do not like your color options. I prefer the forest green to the moss green and do not like the rust color at all. I also purchased this bed with the plaid fleece cover and see that is no longer an option? I think you should bring it back as you do offer it on your traditional beds.
Like many of the other reviewers, I have had a hard time inserting the bolsters. I don't know if you've made modifications since I purchased my bed a few years ago but one suggestion would be to have zippers along each bolster so one could easily insert each pillow.
One final comment. I wish this bed could be monogrammed.

After throwing out yet another (cheaper) dog bed that fell apart after 2 years, I got this for my two dogs who like to sleep in the same bed. I also got a replacement cover to rotate when it's time for the wash. The dogs love it and it looks so much neater in our bedroom than other beds we've had. It's a bit of a project to re-stuff the bolster inserts, but the results are worth it. Highly recommended!

Rated 4 out of 5 by DCBarooo Dog LOVES it but...
This bed has made my dog happier than a sidewalk paved with bacon. He LOVES it! The only drawback is that while it's easy to zip off for cleaning, it's really hard to get back on. It's hard to stuff the sides back in. Would be helpful if the far corner had a small opening for pulling, such as with duvet covers. Also, I have the khaki and it looks dirty immediately after washing it.

I'm so excited to have a real dog bed for my senior husky/shepherd. He's always had sleeping bags, sheepskins, even his own kiddie bed with frame and foamie, but this is perfect. I knew he'd like the pillow edges and he does. It looks and sounds really big (especially for a small house), but I followed all the online recommendations, and the large really is great for him at 55 lbs and about 36" when stretched out sleeping. It gives him just the right about of room to sleep comfortably without being cramped at all, but we wouldn't want it much smaller. And it looks really nice. My toddler loves it too- especially when it arrived in the box and he had his own bed-in-a-box to play in.

I sleep better at night knowing my canine companion has this wonderful bed on which to sleep. I did like many other reviewers and went down a size. I have a 55 pound springer and the medium is perfect for him. It's easy for him to prop his chin on the bolsters, which he loves to do. I agree that it can be difficult to stuff the bed at first. I did not read the directions. Mistake!! I believe after a wash or two and the fabric has loosened up a bit, I'll be able to put it together in no time. I am very pleased with my purchase. Thank you, LL Bean!

Rated 4 out of 5 by plunkie Wrestling with covers. Covers won.
I bought the large couch in the now, sadly, discontinued indigo. Everything is well-made, the heavily-stuffed inside bed and 3 bolsters are covered with a synthetic slippery white material. The insides are much sturdier than the typical paper-like material of pet beds. The cover is stiff, heavy and unwieldy.
The instructions are a single sheet of black and white photos. You turn the cover inside out, find the interior zippers and slide (wrestle) the bolsters in. Then, I never got to this point, I imagine you turn it right side out and wrestle with the bed piece.
The large is very big and quite heavy. The side bolsters have a front and back, top and bottom because they are tapered at the front. It would help to have a line diagram of the zippers and bolsters to show how they fit.
At any rate, after pulling and tugging and pushing I just gave up. I would have eventually beaten this beast of a bed but I could not see doing this on a regular basis and then trying to stick the cover inside the washing machine.
I put together all manner of items but I gave up on this one. It would have been quite useful and I imagine it would last a very long time but it was impractical for our household. YMMV.
Exchanged a single large couch for two large beds instead.
