Our dogs love this bed and so do we. We have had this bed for many years with only one complaint. Sizing. Med is too small and large is way too big. Huge difference between the two.
For those having a hard time getting the cover on after washing, wrap a piece of plastic (heavier plastic drop cloth cut to size) around the insert and it will slide right in. We then pull the plastic out and fold it to store under the insert inside the cover. Take not time to put the bed together again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pickpock Wonderful Bed for Two Golden Retrievers!
I bought this in green extra large for my two 80 pound Golden Retrievers! Plenty of room for both of them. As far as setting it up? It took me 5 whole minutes. The tempur material is very thick? Well made bed. As always, LL Bean came through again! Thank You from Maggie and Macy!

Rated 1 out of 5 by DOTexas Dog Love it - Owners Hates it
The dogs love this bed - the owners hate it - we wash our inside labs every other week and we wash their beds at the same time - on the XL size the zippers are not situated correctly so it is NOT easy to take on and off the cover - so it takes two of us about twenty minutes to put the cover and the side pillows back on. The dogs just look at us like we are stupid.. LL Bean - make the zippers longer on the XL or put together a video on how to take the cover on or off in under 20 minutes..

I bought this bed last year for my 11 year old Lab mix dog. First I bought it in a medium due to the reviews. It was too small since he likes to stretch out and sometimes to curl up. He's about 28 inches tall (ground to head) and nose to buttock he is about 32 inches. He weighs 52 # only. The medium was cramping for him. He enjoys the bed although my daughter bought a 1/2 white lab & 1/2 goldern retriever puppy recently and she seems to use it as a playpen. Hopefully in the future, they can sleep together.
The price was expensive although it was worth it, so my arthritic dog could be more comfortable. Also I use the large dog blanket over the bed and its more comfortable for the dogs and it keeps the bed cleaner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mlbmaine Fabulous Dog Bed!
I purchased a small indigo therapeutic dog couch for our 14 lb. bichon frise 8 months ago and he just loves it! (And, believe me, he spends a lot of time in it.) It still looks brand new. I haven't washed the cover yet as I am dreading having to put it back on after washing. (It is a bit difficult.) The quality and value of the dog bed greatly outweigh the minor inconvenience of putting the cover on. I highly recommend this dog bed.

by SharonH great bed, good quality
My dog loves this bed. I am so glad I decided to order it, I wish I had gotten it years ago. I have a 10 year old, 80 lb Golden Retriever so I wanted to get her the therapeutic foam and thought she'd enjoy the bolster sides on the couch bed. She took to it right away. The memory foam gives her good support and doesn't even dent under her weight.
I was concerned about what size to get, but after reading other reviews, I ordered the Large and it's the perfect size. She curls up a lot with her head on the bolster but she can also stretch all the way out and is comfortable since the bolsters are soft. This keeps her from hanging off the sides the way she sometimes did with her LL Bean rectangular bed. LL Bean beds are the best I've had for her since she was a puppy, I've been completely happy with the look, quality and my dog's comfort.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JCX11 Great quality, but my dog isn't in love.
Bought a size large bed for my 70lb golden retriever. Measure out on your floor to ensure you have the space for this bed. It is big, but the dog seems to appreciate either being able to stretch out or curl up in a corner. The bed is visually very nice and looks like a nice piece of furniture rather than an eyesore on the floor. Problem is, my dog doesn't seem to love the memory foam. I bought the foam thinking it would last longer without going flat - which I am sure it will, but I often find my dog curled up elsewhere. I'm considering returning it and getting the premium dog bed which is probably softer, but I do like the thought that this foam mattress will stand up to time and wear without going flat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by shop60 Excellent support
I've had this bed for 6 months now, and it still looks brand new. The size Large is just right for my 68 pound, 12 year old Golden Retriever -- she spends hours lounging in it. I am especially pleased by how supportive it is, she hardly makes a dent in the surface when she's in it, no sagging like so many other beds. Even the bolsters have retained their shape. I found that liquids will actually bead up on the denim cover, it is really an exceptionally sturdy fabric. Although a bit of a challenge to assemble initially, it is definitely worth it, best dog bed I've bought in 20 years of trying several vendors.

We purchased the extra-large in September, and while it is an extremely well-made product, we dread washing it. L.L.Bean, please consider redesigning the inside zippers to the outside on the side bolsters. Would make life so much easier!

Our Golden Retriever, Gracie, who is almost a year old really enjoys her bed. Maybe a little too much! LLBean needs to come up with a better way to conceal and make the zipper less accessible on the back bolster. Our dog when left alone for long periods must get bored because she finds a way to grab the zipper pull, that closes the rear bolster and manages to pull it across and get it open. She then grabs and pulls out the bolster padding from the compartment and chews and plays around with it. This has happened several times now. The last time she ripped the seam a little and was trying to pull out the stuffing. My wife will need to sow that seam back together. I was amazed our dog was able to find, grab and pull the zipper open. She doesn't bother the side bolsters. So, I have one big request of LLBean and that is to somehow have the zipper on the back bolster concealed better. Everything else is great about the dog bed.
