I bought the small size therapeutic dog bed for my 12 1/2 yr. old Boston terrier recently. He'd been sleeping on our couch with his blankets but has trouble jumping up there now so figured this might be a good alternative. In the past he has resisted other dog beds so I was a bit worried he would not like this one as well. Thankfully not long after we put it together and put his blankets in it, he crawled right in and laid down!!! Now I don't have to worry about him falling while trying to get off and on the couch. The only thing I might have changed is the size- the small fits him but there's not a lot of room to stretch out.. he's a tall Boston and weighs around 27 lbs. In the winter he tends to curl up while sleeping anyway so it shouldn't be a huge issue.. in summer he might need to sleep on the floor if he wants to stretch out to stay cool. All in all this seems like a well made bed and it seems to be quite comfortable to him. It took my husband a little while to figure out how to put it together but once we figured out what went where, it went together pretty quickly.

I have a 22 pound JRT and bought a size small bed/couch. It is great! Firm, yet soft and the perfect size for him. I agree with other reviews, the cover is difficult to get on and off, but I think that is a benefit to the piece itself. I sewed a large canvas rectangle, lay it over the bed and tuck it in under the bed so I can wash that every week rather than taking off the cover. We have had it for several months now and he loves it. He brings blankets and stuffed animals onto it and it is a cozy little nest.

I purchased two and both dogs love them. They seem easy to clean but I haven't tried to clean them yet.

Rated 2 out of 5 Why did LL Bean change the quality of this bed??
We have found over the years that the therapeutic dog couch was the best thing for our dog, and we have bought a number of them over the years. However, our latest purchase was very disappointing. The base of the bed is no longer firm. As soon as Jenny (a 90 lbs Hovawart) sat down she started pushing and probing the stuffing - it was obviously thinner than before and uncomfortable. I took a photo of it after she had sat in it for 10 minutes - there were lumps and bumps in the base, and it was sloping to one side. SUCH a shame to reduce the quality of a great product! Have you changed manufacturer? Also PLEASE, PLEASE bring back the fleece alternative - it is easier to clean and put back on - I have to agree with the other reviewers that the zips need to be made much longer so that rebuilding the bed after washing is easier.

áby Hersh1je Puppy love!
I bought this bed hoping to keep our collie off the furniture. I must admit that he is picky and I had little faith that he would actually lay in it. To my surprise he loves it! I purchased a large instead of an extra large after reading other reviews. The size is perfect for our 80 lb fur ball.

áby HuskyCross We both want the bed!
Hi, my name is Booster and I weigh 56 pounds. I'm the brown dog in the photos. I really like the size large of this super comfy and sturdy therapeutic dog couch.
My human as had an eye on the couch for a long time now and finally decided to buy this size. My human was unsure if it would be a better fit for me or my sister Saba who is much bigger than me, weighing 98 pounds. I personally think the couch should be given to me because, as you can see it's ideal for my back stretches and ball playing activity. Even though Saba fits in the couch as well, she is a bit squished and a full body stretch like mine is awkward.
My super nice owner finally realized that I had a valid point and ordered a size xl therapeutic dog bed for my sister :)
We are still waiting for it to arrive in the mail.
Thank you LLBean for providing us with a high quality set up for sleeping, lounging, snacking, and watching humans in the kitchen.

Our dogs love this bed and so do we. We have had this bed for many years with only one complaint. Sizing. Med is too small and large is way too big. Huge difference between the two.
For those having a hard time getting the cover on after washing, wrap a piece of plastic (heavier plastic drop cloth cut to size) around the insert and it will slide right in. We then pull the plastic out and fold it to store under the insert inside the cover. Take not time to put the bed together again.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Pickpock Wonderful Bed for Two Golden Retrievers!
I bought this in green extra large for my two 80 pound Golden Retrievers! Plenty of room for both of them. As far as setting it up? It took me 5 whole minutes. The tempur material is very thick? Well made bed. As always, LL Bean came through again! Thank You from Maggie and Macy!

Rated 1 out of 5áby DOTexas Dog Love it - Owners Hates it
The dogs love this bed - the owners hate it - we wash our inside labs every other week and we wash their beds at the same time - on the XL size the zippers are not situated correctly so it is NOT easy to take on and off the cover - so it takes two of us about twenty minutes to put the cover and the side pillows back on. The dogs just look at us like we are stupid.. LL Bean - make the zippers longer on the XL or put together a video on how to take the cover on or off in under 20 minutes..

Rated 5 out of 5áby Lucille55 Comfortable and easy to clean.
I bought this bed last year for my 11 year old Lab mix dog. First I bought it in a medium due to the reviews. It was too small since he likes to stretch out and sometimes to curl up. He's about 28 inches tall (ground to head) and nose to buttock he is about 32 inches. He weighs 52 # only. The medium was cramping for him. He enjoys the bed although my daughter bought a 1/2 white lab & 1/2 goldern retriever puppy recently and she seems to use it as a playpen. Hopefully in the future, they can sleep together.
The price was expensive although it was worth it, so my arthritic dog could be more comfortable. Also I use the large dog blanket over the bed and its more comfortable for the dogs and it keeps the bed cleaner.
