Rated 5 out of 5 by CarolCola A cyclist's friend
I bought this for my husband as he loves an earlier version that I can not pry off his back. He is an avid cyclist & at first wasn't too keen on this jacket, because it was not exactly like his previous one,but after he tried it out he was sold. He likes the zipped pocket on the outside where he can stash his mobile within easy reach. The fleece seems to block out the headwind when he is doing about 20 mph on his bike.

Bought two fleece jackets last year from LL Bean, both delivered as advertised. Learned when I bought those to go with Tall XL instead of XXL. Have multiple utility jackets, but was looking for a soft-shell jacket that is fleece lined (love fleece) that I could use for work and be my fall back jacket for sports. Have had the jacket for two weeks and it has delivered. Took it to San Francisco last week on business, where it blocked out the wind, mist, and was almost to warm. Only wore a sports shirt under it, and I was toasty. Looks like it could turn into my number one jacket next winter. Now if it wears and lasts like my two fleece jackets I will be a very happy camper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Digipro37 Warmth & Style without Bulk
I try to take one carry-on luggage when I travel for five weeks. I needed a jacket that gave me warmth and style without the bulk. The Pathfinder works and it's stylish as well. Like others I, layer my clothing depending on the weather and the Pathfinder is going to be a permanent piece when I travel when the weather can be 30 up to 75(f) with wind wind and rain. Plus I have been Buying from LL Bean for 60 years and they have always honored their warranty. I can sometimes use a med or large, and in this case because I layer I bought the large size.

Definitely not "Trim" like the description says. The width at the waist may even be slightly larger than the width at the armpit. I don't know in what world this could be considered "trim". There is a drawstring, but that only sort of helps. It keeps me from looking like a child wearing an oversized shirt in the 90s, but that's about it. This is definitely a jacket of the one-size-fits-every-fat-american school.
Which is a shame since the material is great - smooth and flexible unlike a lot of soft shells. And the price is competitive.
I also was hoping that the logo would actually be black (on black) like one review said it was, but mine was in fact white.

I'm not sure how to say this exactly, but this jacket negates weather. If it is 40 degrees out and sunny, it feels 40 degrees. If it is blowing and raining out, it feels 40 degrees. I skied with just this jacket and a T-shirt on a warmish day and it was perfect. It adjusts very well to any weather. It isn't a warm jacket, but it is a perfect shell. If you cinch it up, wind won't penetrate the sleeves or the waist. It is thin enough to wear under a heavier jacket if it gets very cold. I've taken to bringing this jacket with me where ever I go because its so versatile. I've worn this for 6 months, and you'll never regret buying this jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by PickyPete Nice coat, except the pockets
The jacket seems great, but I immediately returned it due to the material the pockets were made out of. Its a synthetic mesh that catches on skin and is quite uncomfortable to bare hands. This is probably a personal pet peeve, but none the less, it was a deal breaker for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Blackhawksfan10 Very nice jacket
Purchased to have another option besides a heavy jacket on the not so cold winter/spring/fall days in the Midwest. I love the fit, finish and the way that wind is no problem with this jacket. It looks great with jeans or khakis. Description says best with lightweight layer, but I can still wear my jacket (size small) comfortably with a hoodie underneath on the below freezing days. Fleece cuffs are a nice feature as well.
Have purchased other LL Bean products over the years and this is another great addition like all the rest. Certainly would recommend it.

The jacket isn't bulky but it sure keeps you warm! This is one jacket I don't need to remove when I get in the car (due to bulkiness). Great job LL!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jonnyben Fits great, wind resistant and warm
I read the reviews first. I ordered the jacket.Just as everyone said;
Warm, lightweight great looking.
Has 2 side zip pockets and a chest pocket.
Additionally, there are two inside pockets that are very large.
Just ordered another color.
The sleeves are slightly on the long side- perfect for me, I have long arms!

Rated 5 out of 5 by NanaAtLast Light weight but warm
needed a new jacket for walking the dog. The zipper finally gave out on my 20 year old squall jacket. This is light weight jacket but nonetheless quite warm.
