My son loves his comfort Mocs since he put them on. I was a little worried about the quality based on the reviews but I am happy to report that we didn't have the lace issue. The shoes are very sturdy for a 7-year-old jumping everywhere, considering he has wore out two pairs of sneakers in 6 months. Because he likes them so much I bought him second pair, next size up. The only thing I wish it has a bit more support. I also wish LLBean would consider making the same shoe in materials other than mash for cold weather.

I measured my son's foot at the shoe store -- size 3.5. Then I measured his foot at home, and added 3/8" inch to be sure I got a good fit and some room to grow. This meant I ordered a 5 -- AND IT WAS TOO SMALL!! These are for Scout camp in one week, and now the 6's are sold out!

My son, now 12, has worn these exclusively for the past few years. They are his all-time favorite shoe. Comfortable and sturdy, they always look good and fit well. He outgrows them before they wear out. He loves to pick a new color combo each year. Customers: If your son starts wearing these, he may never want to wear anything else!
This year, my son is going to grow out of the size 6. He is somewhat despondent over the fact that he'll have to get a man's shoe, which is never nearly as cool-looking as these.
I wish you'd create a size 7 for young men not ready to relinquish the "fun factor" of youth clothing and footwear!

These are excellent shoes: they last significantly longer than shoes made by other companies. The sole is great, the upper really resistant to stains and wearing, and little boys wear their shoes HARD. That said, the laces are held on with little ribbons which disintegrate. This has happened to a pair I bought, and I've noticed at playgrounds, kids with these particular shoes have similar problems (for example, one lace is broken off because of the ribbon breaking). If LL Bean could make the ribbon out of something more durable, then these shoes would be indestructible. I'll still keep buying them, but it seems like this problem could be fixed easily.

Both my 9 year old son and I love these shoes. They are well constructed, comfortable, and seems like they will last a long time. He says that hey make him run faster and turn corners better. I liked the price for a great pair of reliable shoes.

Great quality. Durable but lightweight. Good looking shoe should go with most attire. Nice traction for rough terrain and outdoor play. A bit snug going on but comfortable once foot is in shoe. Runs about a size short. I ordered my child's usual size but had to exchange for next bigger size. Width seems normal. Would have given 5 stars, but for having to exchange. Would recommend.

My son is 6, and we just purchased his third pair of these. His school has an outdoor component, and they're rugged enough for a light hike, but can still sub for sneakers for gym class, without having to pack multiple pairs of shoes. If he does have to slip on his rain or snow boots, the bungee laces make that simple. They look good with pants or shorts (and I've seen girls wear them with casual skirts and dresses.) He outgrows them before they wear out, and we pass them on to a friend with quite a bit of life left in them, which feels good. Yet, the price is decent enough that we feel we're getting our money's worth, especially when we can catch a sale. When he was a toddler, we were fans of the LLBean Comfort Mocs. For someone trying to decide between the two styles, fit-, function- and wear-wise, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. I see us buying more of these in the future, as he grows.

Great looking and durable shoe that lasted my two active boys the entire winter. They are easy to put on for the kids - no laces. Perfect for cold days at school - walking to bus, outside recess, etc., with a sole that can be worn at gym class. The toggles/laces broke at end of winter, though. Will buy them again for next year.

This may say it all: My most recent purchase of the Kids' Comfort Mocs is the FIFTH pair of these shoes that I've bought from LLBean. They're the best kids' shoes I've found in the 13 years since I became a mom -- They beat the boutique kids' sneaker & hiking shoe brands hands down.
Both of my children have worn & outgrown several pairs. These shoes are comfortable, durable, and good looking. They're perfect for gym days and, after the school year, last for the summer hiking in the woods & trekking down to the lake. Because they tie with a bungee cord & clip, I don't have to say, "Tie your shoes!" again & again... I'm disappointed that they're not made in bigger sizes because I would love for my kids to be able to get a new pair of these every year during middle school as their feet grow.
