What not to love. A wool shirt that is not itchy. A zipper for easy on and off of a turtleneck. Length that works for tucked or untucked. Hidden thumb holes for extra hand warmth. A new favorite.

I really love this shirt. I have it in both the quarter zip version as well as the crew - in several colors and sizes. I wear the zip one over a smaller-sized crew during the winter when walking my dog - it is a great way to layer and keep warm. These tops are very soft - and, I don't find them itchy at all. I often wear my black quarter zip with a t-shirt underneath when working at home or doing errands - it is my "go to" top when it's even slightly cold and I don't know what else to wear. I love the long sleeves with the thumb hole.. My only real complaint would be that the grey version seems to be a little lighter weight than the black and does not look as nice to wear other than for exercise. I would really like to see these in other solid colors - something neutral - like loden green, dark purple, a dark heather grey, or even a cream color. I would definitely buy this in other colors to wear for exercise and dog-walking as well as for just wearing around instead of a light-weight fleece.

Have one from 5 years ago and loved it, ordered this year and fabric seems thinner and scratchier. Tolerable but don't enjoy wearing like before.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Peacebugg Warm, comfy, not itchy
Very nice quality. Fits well. Length is just below waist, a tad longer in the back. Sleeves are great and have thumb holes to keep in place.
Washed well, hung to dry.
I will be getting a crew neck version as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ride4TheBrand Excellent product!
Attractive, warm & very comfortable for all-day wear as baselayer or alone. No odor or itch---ever.
True to size, it washes well & retains its shape even after repeated washings.
Ample sleeve length provides good hand coverage.
Beautiful in black, but other color choices would be welcomed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by fred1234 Not a base layer
This shirt is more like a light sweater or midlayer. The fabric is a nice "next to skin" merino. (I'm a knitter, I know from merino.) It's not remotely itchy. That is ruined by the seams. Structurally, most of them are flat, but are sown with a course, rough thread. There is one long seam on each side that is not flat, but particularly irritating. I tried to turn the shirt inside out, but the placket for the zipper makes that look awful.
Luckily for me, I didn't intend to use it as a real base layer, but will always have one of my Rambouillet wool undershirts on under it. Still, the seams are a bit annoying for the first few minutes. However, the fabric is nice, and the fit is good. At this price, I will keep it for a light sweater.

I was so excited about this product, because I have the expedition weight shirts in 2 colors and love them! Unfortunately, when I tried this shirt on, it was super itchy! I was weary about the wool, but other reviews were great, so I thought it would be fine. I'm sorry to say that it would only work in a larger size as an outer layer, but would probably still be itchy around the neck.

Soft, comfortable and true sizing. I wear it over a light running shirt or sports top to stay warm after exercise. Confident it would excel under a wind breaker or warm up jacket on cold days.

Great as a base layer or to take the chill off. I wore this with a tee under it everyday on a recent vacation. It took the chill out of the mornings and evenings. It even kept me warm when a drizzle started during a hike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SophieNY Perfect for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing!
Remarkably soft fabric; feels great against the skin, better than the clingy silk I've worn for years. Perfect under a lightweight jacket for vigorous exercise (snowshoeing and X-country skiing) at 20F to 5F; haven't had the opportunity to test it at colder temps yet. Medium fits my 5'8" 130 lb long-armed frame perfectly, though I don't use the thumbholes. After multiple outings with it in upstate NY, ordered another as a gift and the matching bottoms (mens tall to get the length I need) for myself.
