I chose to ignore the negative comments on this jacket, the storm chaser 3 in 1 because of my past good experience with LL B on outerwear. I regretted that as soon as I saw the jacket. All the negative comments are right on target regarding shapelessness, strange sizing, length of sleeves of inner jacket, clumsiness in the pairing of the two items. The only positive thing was the lavender color of the outer jacket. Deeply disappointed at LL Bean for marketing such a flawed product at such a price.

I had purchased a 3-in-1 system several years ago and really liked it - fit was just right. They have redesigned this system and the sleeves on both are way toooooo long. Not sure why they changed the previous fit because I really like the concept and flexibility of the 3 -in-1. I have returned and am awaiting my refund.

I like the 3-in-1 concept. It is a warm jacket. It kept me warm in subfreezing weather. It does run a bit small though. Also the fleece sleeves tend to bunch up or stick out of the shell sleeve. It also tends to bind at the shoulders. I usually wear an XL and purchased a 1X to add a little extra room for a sweater or sweatshirt. I am bit disappointed that it runs smaller than expected.

Rated 4 out of 5 by decadesofbeans great warmth
I purchased this jacket and it is stylish, great fabric and warm for cool, not cold weather.
There is a serious design problem when wearing, together, the polar fleece jacket and its outer wind jacket. Sleeves bunch up, can't slide them on easily. Restricted arm movement.
There is a major design/construction flaw here that is consistently reflected in all these reviews from women who have diverse body types.
What I found is the outer jacket has been cut too small in not only the arm girth, but the arm hole to accommodate the inner fleece. It needs to be enlarged at least three inches to make this a wearable action jacket.
This is the very reason we all shop here. We are action women and expect the designers at LLBEAN to meet those needs.
What I did about it is cut off the sleeves of the polar fleece, bound the raw edge with lace trim, turned it inside and stitched by hand to get a nice finished edge. Now I have proper movement of arm.

I absolutely love this jacket. It truly is a great deal for the price. I have never gotten so many compliments on a jacket as I have now. Its water resistant, I love the fact the it can be worn in warmer, and rainier conditions, as well as cold windy winter weather! This is an awesome jacket! I truly recommend this to others!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Amandaaaaa Wasn't crazy about it then it shrunk in the wash
I had a lot of trouble keeping the pieces of this jacket together- after fastening all the snaps, it still wanted to come apart, especially at the ends of the sleeves. I've had it for about a year now, and just washed it for the first time. Machine washed on delicate in cold water, and tumble-dried on low. The outer shell shrunk at least 2 inches in all directions. The fleece sleeves now stick out of the end of the shell. The fit is horrible now. I'll be looking into returning this one.:(

Rated 3 out of 5 by NoBizLover Not a cold weather coat
Being an outdoors woman I have plenty of blaze orange and camo jackets but I wanted a jacket for casual outerwear.
Like: Shell is great. Very wind and water repellant. Nice 3 season jacket. Good inside pockets in fleece.
Do not like: Sleeves of fleece are not lined for easy on and off. Because of this, even though there is room for layering, it is hard to get the jacket over another fleece or sweater. Also I have trouble keeping the hood closed. The draw strings slips. Because of these issues, I find it is not adequate below + 20. If the sleeves were lined and I could wear a hooded sweatshirt under it, it would be adequate.
I would recommend as a nice 3 season jacket.

As so many of LLB clothes these days, this jacket has changed. I have one I am wearing out, I loved it so much. It is now 6 or 7 years old, so I ordered a new one. I still haven't returned it, but I'm thinking I will. There is no shape, it is very big on me in medium, which is what the previous one is and my usual size. I have not lost weight, so I know it's the way the jacket is made. The sleeves are long and the outer shell Velcro bunches the sleeves up very badly.
Another annoying thing is the zippers are on the man's side. Has anyone else noticed this? No way it's a man's jacket in the lavender and grape color. In fact, the color is the only nice thing I can say about this current jacket. As soon as I have time to pack it up, I'm sending it back.

Rated 2 out of 5 by coldinwis Love it & Hate it
I bought this a year ago but didn't wear it too much. This year I've taken it on two vacations and was sorry both times. It is very warm when the two are worn together. My complaint is that the fleece is "sticky" when trying to get it on and off. When sticking my arm in, the sleeve of my shirt gets hiked way up by the fleece and when taking it off I need help because of the fleece "sticking" onto my clothes. It's very frustrating. I also wish the fleece would be better attached to the jacket at the bottom of the sleeve. This issue also contributes to the trouble getting it on and off. I love the concept but hate this jacket. I wish I would have returned it a year ago when I bought it. I have purchased other jackets and they were fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by SmithersBC Can wear another layer under when it gets to -25 C
Have worn this jacket for the last month. It's warm and water repellant . My only dislike is when I'm wearing the fleece without the shell, there are no pockets to slip my hands into when I want to keep them warm and have no gloves with me.
