I hesitated quite a while before ordering this robe because I wasn't sure about its ankle length, but as soon as I put it on, I felt like I had found a cozy, draft-free retreat! Yes, it is generously cut, but who wants a skimpy winter robe? I ordered my usual size and just snuggled into all of that soft fleece fabric. The robe I was replacing was thick and therefore rather bulky, while this Bean version is sleeker yet wonderfully warm. I ordered the clearwater blue, hoping that the color would be more vibrant than both the web and catalogue photos show, and it definitely is. Clearwater blue is a lovely shade that reminds me of a wild bird's egg. I'm completely delighted with this robe and actually look forward to putting it on each night; to my husband's amusement, it's been making an appearance earlier and earlier each night!

When I ordered twin Winter Fleece Wrap-Front Robes at Christmas for my daughter and me, I didn't expect fit problems. Given our respective heights (5'6" and 5'7"), ordinary dress size (S), and past purchases in Bean's sleepwear department, Regular S seemed the obvious choice for both of us. Unfortunately, when the packages arrived on Christmas Eve and I donned my robe, I found it to be positively voluminous. The length was such that I would have worried about tripping; the sleeves needed to be folded back; and the overwrap was way too generous. It felt like a Tall M (or perhaps even a Tall L). Moreover, the Dark Raspberry color -- which looked more like creamy tomato soup -- was disappointing. Time for a double return. Happily, I live within driving distance of an LLBean store; so I was able to try on several robes there and find the perfect fit and color(s) before they were completely picked over. Who knew I would end up buying a Petite XS (one in Bright Navy, one in Emerald Teal) for each of us?! My daughter and I are both pleased with our robes. They are definitely warm; the fit is now fine; and the colors are appealing. I only wish LLBean would go back to the drawing board and resize this item for next year. Purchasing clothing online becomes very confusing and frustrating when ordinary size considerations do not apply. If not for this factor, I would have given the item 5 stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Essential Comfortable, runs big, not Polar fleece
I ordered the raspberry color in petite small. I am 5' 4 1/2" tall and 130 lbs. The robe felt and looked a bit too big in the shoulders and seemed pretty big when wrapping around me. If the shoulders fit better I wouldn't mind the extra wrap (I'd say there was 12" overlap at the hem). The sleeves were long, just to the start of my fingers, but can be cuffed back. I liked the extra warmth. The length was perfect, right at the anklebone. I didn't have any trouble tripping over it going up the stairs. The fabric is fleece and definitely warm but it looks kind of cheap. It's not Polar fleece, it seems fuzzier- a longer nap like what you'd see on a stuffed animal. It's not awful, and if it weren't so expensive I'd probably exchange for XS, but for what I paid I need to love everything about it. I didn't like the look of the fleece, so I returned it. One thing I can rave about is their customer service. Super friendly and helpful and made my return so easy. That carries a lot of weight with me! I would still recommend the robe if you are not as picky as I am, it is wonderfully warm. Make sure you order smaller than what you wear, read other people's reviews about size. I normally wear M or PM so this robe runs BIG.

Just got the pale blue and am madly in love. The other morning I pulled a bag of defrosting blueberries out of the fridge and juice poured all down the front of it. I almost cried, as I have been looking to replace an old robe for 15 years and thought I had finally found it. Anyway, I whipped it off and ran the spots under cold water and they rinsed out instantly. All I can say is WOW. I look at the webpage every few days to see if the robe is on sale so I can get another one.

Exactly what I wanted! Super soft and warm, and I like the fit. I'm 5'6" and weigh 140lbs. I usually buy mediums, but after reading the reviews (especially the one by the man who bought his wife a medium and commented that it could have fit a linebacker) I decided to buy a small. The sleeves go down to the knuckles of my thumbs which is just a little too long, the bottom stops right at the top of my ankle bone, and the sides each wrap around to the opposite side of my body. I love everything about it, and I'm going to buy one in the same size for my daughter who has basically the same build, but a little taller.

This robe is very warm and soft. The size is generous and the inside ties keep everything where it should be. I've washed it once already and it dis not shrink at all. I just love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BigtimeLLBeanfan A nice soft, warm, comfortable robe
The only negative I find with this robe is I wish it were just a bit shorter. I'm 5'6 and it hangs down by my ankles. Other than that, I love the soft feel of it and I wear it often around the house.

Needed a wrap-front robe to replace one worn to a frazzle and this meets the need perfectly. I have another LL Bean robe that is a zip-up -- I love it but really need the convenience of a wrap-front (still get the occasional hot flash).
My only negatives about this robe are that the sleeves are a bit too long for me (true about most clothes I buy), but they are easily turned up. Other minor negative -- the fabric is lovely, but in areas where it is sewn into several layers (i.e. the seam on the belt, and the collar) it is too thick. However, this is not a deal-breaker..

I swear this is true. In 1979 my mother gave me a fabulously warm furry L.L.Bean bathrobe I've worn all winter long these last 35 years, including 5 years with my radiant floor heat busted. I don't believe the words "polar fleece" had been invented, but I know now that's what this bathrobe is, what was then simply a magical new fabric, so cozy and warm.
After who knows how many washings, the thing has thinned out, there's no "fur" left on it, but it's still very serviceable and doesn't have a single hole or rip, though I hike in it daily and none of my other bathrobes survive hiking through the snarly desert without shredding after a year or two. (Nothing like hiking in giant-pocketed bathrobes that fit camera, phone, paper, pen, tissue, and chapstick, with plenty of excess room for special rocks found along the way.)
Still, entering my 60th year this winter, I decided I deserve a new robe, and was frustrated in advance that I'd never find one as pleasing. But I figured, even with the entire world wide web now at my fingertips, what the heck, might as well try L.L. Bean first, see what they have, after serving me so well with this robe these last 35 years.
What I found on the screen appeared to be THE EXACT SAME ROBE, though of course I couldn't be sure until it got here. Well, it's here now, and does appear to be pretty much the same robe, same delicious red, even. My memory is of the original robe having lots thicker furriness which I've emptied out of the dryer vent thousands of times these last 35 years. The old robe is now thinner and has long since lost its fuzziness but is still strong and warm.
I'm astounded, in this world of thorough disposability, that it's still possible not only to FIND something I loved 35 years ago, but that THE 35 YEAR OLD VERSION IS STILL GOING STRONG! I expected the new one to be thicker than it is, but aside from that, it looks just like my old one, with new fuzziness. I'll get back to you in 35 years to let you know how it holds up?..
