Rated 5 out of 5 by OneLuckyOne Great coat for walking the dog
I ordered this coat in Stone, since all the other color choices were backordered until summer. I was worried that I would be washing it often, but as it turns out, it's not a dirt magnet - even with muddy paws near by. The stone color is slightly darker than I expected.
Despite reviews suggesting ordering a size down, I ordered my usual size. It's perfect. It is roomy, but for walking the dog, can fill the pockets with gloves and leashes etc and still move freely. I think maybe a size down would be fine if I were wearing it just around town (shopping, to/from work), but as a utilitarian coat for yard work and walking the dog, I would imagine that a smaller size would be restrictive.
The insulation makes this coat warm and wind proof. That said, I would choose my down jacket for truly cold days because there are no cuffs in the sleeves or much of a collar. One day I wore the coat on a cold windy day, and the wind found its way up my sleeves, even with gloves. Brrrr! It's been a very cold winter here in Upstate NY, so maybe it would be fine for most winters.
For me, this is a perfect "in between" coat and I've already gotten good use of it this spring.

This is a stylish and warm barn coat, warm enough to repel the constant Kansas wind in many seasons. The length, at the hip, provides style and comfort. The material is light enough to allow full use of arms so movement is not bound or restricted as it is with other warm and heavy coats. This coat hangs by my back door because it is now my favorite and I grab it when I go out.

Just ordered this coat and finally got to wear it. Needed a jacket for late March, early April and the fall season. It is very warm and comfy and I like the way it fits. Plenty of room to layer a sweater under jacket. Good for days in the northeast when it is in the upper 40's to upper 50's. When it gets to low , I will probably wear my heavier winter jacket. The only thing I wish is that Bean make the jacket a little longer and an inside pocket for cell phone. A hood would be nice also for rainy days. More colors would be nice like black or grey. I got it in the blue which is very pretty.
Other than that, this jacket is worth the money.

My reliable down coat gave up on me so I had to find a coat asap for this brutal NY winter! Got it in Loden color and love it. I got it in Petite and sleeves are the perfect length. I hate hoodies so this style is perfect. Very warm, no wind slips through...just wish it was longer but other than that, thrilled with it!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by uhappy newest version is too skimpy
I ordered what I thought was an exact replication of my favorite LLBean barn coat - imagine my dismay when I found that they had changed to measurements especially along the back so when I raised my arms (Like to lift a bale of hay) it was too tight in the back. I ordered 2 sizes larger and still the problem with it being too tight in the back. Have to stay with my old barn coat since it doesn't pull when I lift my arms. Too bad.

I love this barn coat! I have 2 others - one insulated (red) and one flannel-lined (green). Now I have a blue one. It's the perfect weight for Texas winters. I wear a medium in most clothing items, and the medium coat fits me perfectly. I've even convinced my sister to buy one!

Rated 1 out of 5 by OnlineShopper1717 Monstrously huge!
This coat is WAY too big. I usually wear a medium in other coats (sometimes a small). I ordered an XS in this because it was the only size that had the color I wanted. The coat is HUGE and boxy, even when I tried layering it with some bulky items underneath. In the picture, it's shown with a slight waist, but in reality it has no shape at all and is just boxy. I will say that it is well made and the fabric is nice, but that's about it. I really wanted to like it, but I'm going to have to return it.

This is a comfortable, easy & useful jacket. It feels sturdy and is attractive. The flannel lining is wonderful (sleeves are not lined), though you'll want the Thinsulate lining for colder weather. The tab across the back on the newer jackets makes a big difference in appearance.
The diagonal pockets could be slightly deeper, so you could put things in them without worrying about them falling out.
The flap pockets look good, but I've ended up leaving them sort of tucked in for easier access.
What would make this jacket FANTASTIC would be one or more INTERIOR pockets. Everyone I know who has this jacket agrees on this one.
A zipper option would be nice too, as would one more color option, like navy blue or burnt orange.
