My shoe size is 9-1/2, so I ordered the Large size. They were so narrow that I could barely get my feet into them. I doubt that they'll fit after washing them. No matter what your shoe size, I would recommend buying the X-Large size... if you must.

At last. A pair that actually DO stay up, well somewhat, despite Beans description. They also never mention just how much "wool" is in these socks. In the store you have to look very closely at the label to find that out, & many have different percentages of wool. Look closely!

Having read the reviews I ordered a size up (I'm 8.5 B and ordered large). The fabric is nice, they stay up, and they feel tailored made. I have two pairs of shoes that are slightly large all over and with the thicker foot on these socks, the extra room in the shoe is taken-up nicely. Socks have held together nicely (two washings and wears) and I don't mind the argyle sock. I didn't think I'd really wear the argyle, but I do.

I've had these for over a year and they still look and feel great. They run a little shorter and narrower than I'm used too, but their comfortable. They wear like iron. I run around the house after work in them because of the warmth and comfort and they show no signs of wear. I just hope they'll have these when I want to order more.

Too narrow and not stretchy enough = ripped socks. Ripped them trying to put them on. Junk.

On the 3rd wear, one of the socks tore under the band while putting it on. Otherwise, these are very warm and comfortable but can't recommend.

Got these socks for my husband for Christmas. They are nice socks BUT he had a hard time getting them pulled on over his heel. (I ordered the XLarge). The herringbone pair seemed to be the most constricting.

I wear size 11 shoes I received these socks for Christmas and I love them. When I first put them on they are a bit snug but loosen to a more comfortable level within a few minutes. I like the padding on the bottom it is very comfortable and helps me through a long day on my feet. The reason I'm on the site today is to order more of them.

I bought 2 sets of these socks. Two of the 4 pair have ripped at the elastic top band while pulling them on. I could be because they run a little small. I've had to be very careful with the last 2 pair and so far they haven't ripped. I like the sock in general...but the band at top is very disapointing and it's very rare I say that about an LLB product.

The size chart says they fit size 9 1/2 to 11 1/2 feet. I wear a 10 1/2, so i am right in the middle of this size range, but these socks run small and squeeze one's feet. It's like wearing compression socks, and get's a little uncomfortable by the end of the day.
Surprised that LL Bean doesn't monitor these comments and adjust the size range accordingly. Had the same problem with a pair of hiker's i ordered last year, when i believed LL Bean's sizing chart, and ended up with uncomfortably tight shoes.
