Rated 1 out of 5 by neworleans too loose and bad seam
I purchased this to wear under a cycling jersey for winter cycling. Even though I ordered a size smaller than I normally would it was very loose and not suitable for wearing under a tight-fitting cycling jersey. It might be ok under a loose shirt.
Also, one of the arm seams was bad, leaving a gap.
Of course, L.L.Bean refunded me the full price, with no shipping charges. That's why I shop here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by notsofat Feels great
I have several base layer crew shirts, both LLB and others. But this merino wool gives the best feel against my skin, and while it keeps me warm in raw outdoor temps, it is not too hot to wear indoors.
After a day's wear it doesn't have any odor.
I will buy more as gifts...

I bought this in a medium for my brother. It fits true to size, is soft and warm. He's worn it several times and it appears to have washed nicely. Such a great price for a merino wool base layer - you simply can't go wrong!

Rated 4 out of 5 by GeorgianGirl nice soft warm shirt
Just bought this for my husband and it's a very nice shirt - you just can't beat merino wool for softness, helping you maintain your body temperature in many kinds of weather, washability and non-stinkability! The green is a nice deep rich green. The raglan style sleeves make for ease of movement and layering.
2 reasons why we didn't rate this a 5 - the stitching around the neck is a little itchy but haven't washed the shirt yet.
Also the shirt runs a tiny bit short so I think if you have a long torso, regardless of height, you might want to order a tall.
My husband looks very nice in this shirt and I'm glad that I bought it. Will get another.

Bought this for my teenager who is always cold. He wears it all the time so I have ordered the solid black one also. Need more colors to choose from though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by darwin1859 Best LLBean purchase ever
How long have I been shopping at LLBean...? A few decades now... Can't think of a better purchase than this Cresta Wool shirt.
I've worn it under a soft-shell in flurrying Wyoming Novembers, as the only shirt in crisp Pennsylvania leaf raking days, and on misty Maine mornings in the summertime. Great in every situation. It breathes well, but is very warm when it needs to be.
I guess it's meant primarily for a base layer (as the name suggests) but I have found myself wearing it as my only shirt quite often. Even though it is somewhat form-fitting, the shirt is thick enough that you don't feel like you're trying (unsuccessfully) to impersonate a jacked NFL player in Under Armour.
Plus, it never seems to smell bad!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Goodhue Warm,Comfortable, and NOT Itchy
Recently went on a vacation during which I spent a lot of time outdoors. Since the temperature was in the twenties most of the time,I often wore this shirt as a base layer underneath whatever else I put on. It kept me warm outside, yet was comfortable when I was inside.I'd wear it for many hours at a time and I never felt itchy despite it being 100% wool. Plan on buying another. Highly recommended.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Shopforkhaki Too short
I am 5'10", 185 pounds and purchased this in a large. Out of the box it was shorter than I would have liked. After washing per the instructions it is even shorter, barely down to my hips. I will be returning this for a tall. On the plus side it is very warm and comfortable.

I researched the new synthetics. Found that merino wool was probably the better choice. My husband loves this. Soft against the skin. Absolutely no "wool itchiness". Light weight but very warm. Keeps you warm outside without making you too hot when you come back in. I washed it in cold water gentle cycle & hung it up to dry. Came out perfect.
