Great for cool weather. Can even be used to layer under a waterproof outer garment. High quality. Great value.

A very nicely done item, and due to its weight and construction, more of a Jacket than a sweatshirt. Mine is the simple collar version (no hood) with full-zip front. I think my only issue, slight though it is, are the satin or rayon-lined sleeves. I cannot tell, without slicing open a seam, whether the lining covers the same interior fleecing in the rest of the piece....or not. Why this might matter is that this jacket, which feels great on you in its heft and fit, as the sleeves slide on, feels at first colder than you might expect. It's a small quibble, and is belied by the fact that I plan to purchase a second; but I wonder about it as I wait to warm up. Was the lining to cover up a fleeceless sleeve (fleeceless to save money)?.....Or a quality-enhancer? for the sleeve to hold shape.

I wish I had read all the reviews before ordering and then reordering for the correct size. As a previous reviewer stated "The arms of this sweatshirt ARE NOT lined with fleece. They have some kind of thin wind breaker material lining the sleeves that feels as cold as the outside air". Oh how true! I bought this to wear inside around the house for the most part over a short sleeve T-Shirt. Immediately felt the coldness on the arms and never really seems to warm up to your body temp. Whatever this lining is, it may serve well in a summer shirt, always cold!. Also the arms were very cold just going out to get the paper on a 30 degree morning, chill went right through. The rest of the shirt is warm. The sizing does run large, I had ordered large but had to reorder a tall medium that now fits nicely. Waist on the large was way to big for me.

This is my second fleece lined sweat jacket because I wore out the first one, wearing it frequently under a hooded parka. Also preferred it because it didn't have the hood.

I have purchased quite a few of these jackets. I bought two for my husband, one for my son and two for my brother. They are favorites to all my men. I especially like that they come in tall (and big) sizes. I came back to see what colors were available this year, and only see the navy and grey. We already have those. We also have the loden and barley. These truly are their winter coats. Unless it is snowing heavily this is the jacket they all grab. I wanted to get another one for my son to use while his navy one is in the wash. They launder beautifully, but I only partially dry them to save on wear and energy.

I have had one of these for a little over a year now. I got this shortly after I got the hooded version. Both are made extremely well and stand up to a fair amount of work duty, as they should. The cut and fit were spot on (for me anyway). My biggest grip is the pockets. The hooded version has pockets with an angular entry towards the front of the sweatshirt whereas the hoodless garment has them straight up and down at the sides. Maybe this is for aesthetic purposes, I am not sure. However, mainly due to that, this one does not get worn nearly as often as the hooded jacket (20:1). I'll be sure to more careful buying another with respect to the pocket design in the future. I can guarantee that I won't be purchasing any of the Bean jackets with this pocket design.
