I bought 2 of these shirts and I loved the colors, fit, and feel. I purchased the Deep Forest Heather and the Deep Brown Heather. But after I washed the shirts per the instructions the area around the buttons puckered severely. I had to return which made me unhappy because these cool colors are not offered in the regular Polo shirts. I think the material is too thick in the button area and should be the same thickness as the regular Polos which I have not had a problem with. In fact, I order 2 of the regular Polos to replace these.

I ordered the red in size M. Beautiful color and detailing. LLbean designed a beautiful polo. The fabric, however, was garbage. I washed it once and it shrunk upwards, and outwards at the bottom. I put it on and i looked like i was a liberty bell. This would be fine if i were an obese person as it would comfortably accomodate a gargantuan pot belly. Why doesnt llbean just pre shrink the fabric? My advice, - buy the regular llbean polos in trim fit. They are simple, well constructed and dont change shape in the dryer.

This shirt holds its color after washing and that is good. But, like another earlier reviewer, my shirt (in the chili color for what it is worth) also develops apparent residue stains after each wash. These stains, as they are on the front of the shirt, limit the places I can wear it. Consequently, I cannot give a full endorsement, but I would (and actually may) buy another since oinly a few people have had a problem like mine.

These polos are great for an athletic build. I really like them as the sleeves aren't too long or wide. They seem to hit at the right spot for me. I wish the body was slightly shorter, but overall these are among my favorite polos. Well constructed and they last a long time.

The fit is quite excellent if you're on the slender side. I'm 5'10'' 150lbs and a small fit perfectly. It's made of soft, thick cotton and the collar stays firm after washing, which is a definite plus. It's a little long, but not egregiously so; in fact, it's length gives it the versatility of being worn tucked or un-tucked. Overall quality is better than anything you'll find in this price range at comparable stores. Hands down, I reach for this guy before any other polo I own.

I walked into the Freeport LLBean store for the first time in 1974... back when it was small and quaint... So I've been a long time fan of the two L's.
I do like these shirts, I ordered two (different colors) but after the first wash (washed separately, before I wore them) they both came out with what looks like inconsistent pigmenting or small oil based residue marks.
I have no idea.
So I just dropped them at the dry cleaners to see if he could get the strange stuff out. If he can I'm good and I'll give it a 5 star. If not I'll return and exchange them.
I can't comment on fit as I have yet to put them on.

Love the idea of the LL Bean Signature series, but I have been kind of disappointed in the two items I've purchased from it so far--including this polo. This shirt can only be worn tucked in. It is too long and makes you look like a little kid if you wear it untucked. Strange that the designer, who is going for a modern style, would miss the mark so dramatically in this respect. Also, the neck is too large (16.5" on a medium? Seriously? It should be 15.5"). Otherwise, the cut is OK. Fairly trim in the chest, and sleeves are fairly short but not too tight around the armpits, which is fine. The contrasting buttons are nice too. But the real killer is the unacceptably long length. I like to wear my polos untucked, and cannot do that with this shirt. Perhaps if you have an extremely long torso and stubby legs, this shirt may fit you better than it does me. I have an average body type and am your quintessential size medium...5'9", approx 160 lbs. Neck 15.5 Sleeve 33/34. Frankly, LL Bean, if you're going to market "signature" items, you need to pay more attention to the details. At the very least, you need to take 2" in length off this shirt and 1" off the neck...and then you will have a shirt worthy of the "signature" label and price tag.

I prefer longer polo shirts, so I bought the port wine colored one for myself, even though it's a "men's" shirt. I didn't realize the color had a lot of black in it--don't care for that. It's a bit pricey, so I'd wait for this one to go on sale before purchasing.

I have admired the quality of L.L.Bean products for years. I will be ordering more polo shirts in different colors for my summer wardrobe.
