This shirt feels like it's great quality but I'm so disappointed that I can't recommend it. It's supposed to be slim fit and I did originally get a large that fit like a glove, but too close for comfort when considering shrinkage in the wash. I returned it and got an XL, counting down the days until it arrived. The thing is a tent. it actually balloons out from the chest down. calling this a slim fit shirt is a total lie, or some sort of delusion. I would go as far to say that if you were wearing this in any kind of active, job, it's bulky to the point of being dangerous. I could easily fit all three of my 15 month old kids inside the shirt while I'm wearing it buttoned up.

Got for Christmas. Love it. Love the slim cut, the softness and weight of fabric. I'm not always a fan of Bean menswear because of it's Dad-ish look (even though I'm a dad myself) and generous cut but this shirt's a winner. I'm an athletic 5'8"/150 lbs. and the M is even a bit roomy on me but comfortable. Buy this shirt.

What a beautiful shirt, making it even more of a let down! I am 5'10" 170lbs and a very average, easy to fit medium. I truly couldn't wait to get this shirt. When it arrived I tried it on to find that when raising my hands above my head I reached a point of restricted mobility. No shirt is gonna hold me back!
I have an active job and all my shirts have to move well and be very comfortable. I find that when I do buy these "fitted" shirts with restrictive tailoring they just don't get worn. As I stated above I am a very standard build, and unfortunately I don't have big upper arms or shoulders. I have encountered this issue with other manufacturers and it drives me crazy, because I know there are other labels that make nicely tailored "fitted" shirts that offer complete range of motion at the same price point, so it is simply a failure in product testing.

Rated 3 out of 5áby LTopper Grey Signature 1933 chamois cloth shirt
The color is grey heather as depicted. The shirt fits properly and is comfortable, but it does not have the normal quality of "chamois". It does not have the "hand" of brushed cotton like other chamois/flannel shirts.
I decided to keep it. I still like the shirt, but it does not have that very soft, kind of fuzzy, hand that you expect.
This was sent as a back order. Perhaps the supplier is different from the other 1933 chamois cloth shirts I have purchased in the past.

áby JustinT Absolutely Perfect (after a few exchanges)
Okay, so at first I ordered three of the traditional fit in a medium regular. I am 5'11 and 150lbs, so I'm pretty slim. I have long arms and a small torso, so I've always had the problem of small shirts fitting well on the torso, but being too short in the arms, so when buying non-tailored shirts, I almost always get mediums.
Well, the traditional fit chamois in medium regular was RIDICULOUSLY big. So baggy, when you tucked it in, it was actually comical looking--not the sharp look I wanted. Unless you have a HUGE girth, don't even bother with the traditional fit. So next I tried the Signature 1933 Slim fit in Medium regular. Close, but no cigar. It was definitely slimmer, but it still was baggy. Then, knowing from the previous shirts that these really are the best quality shirts (fitting problems aside) available, I gave them one more chance. Signature 1933 Small Tall. I knew the arms would be the perfect length, but I was still worried about the rest of the shirt. I just got them today. OH MY GOODNESS! Can it be? These shirts are PERFECT. I mean actually perfect. L.L. Bean quality material with a sharp, Pendleton fit. These shirts flatter my slim figure without hugging tightly at all. Couldn't be happier. I'm going to wear nothing else this winter :D

Rated 4 out of 5áby JaneA9 Signature 1933 Chamois, Blue Plaid
This is a great shirt. The blue plaid is beautiful, and the buttons and classic pocket style really make it special. I love the fabric and the slimmer cut (compared to the "Traditional Fit" chamois shirt). I find this signature line to be truer in its sizing than the traditional fit chamois shirts. The traditional fit chamois shirt is cut MUCH larger: arms are significantly wider, the shirt-tails are MUCH longer and the entire garment is really quite oversized. I just wish that the signature line chamois shirts were as wonderfully thick as the traditional line.

áby Prionnsias Excellent shadow plaid hombre shirt.
This is an excellent shirt in a spectacular colour. It is very rare to find a shadow plaid (AKA hombre) shirt at all much less available in a long size. The pockets are perfectly matched, flapped and two in number, the buttons big, black and shiny. The seams are felled. All as it should be. Well worth the price of admission. I am looking forward to the cold weather so I can sport this about.

Rated 4 out of 5áby Garnt So classic. SO SOFT. And a bit tight in the arms.
The 1933 Chamois is true to the classic look. At 6'3' and 185lbs, I first ordered the Medium Tall in Dark Gold. Loved the fit through the chest and waist, but the arms were a bit too constricting, making it hard to throw on a sweater underneath the shirt on cold days. Decided to send it back and get a Large regular. Though it doesn't have the same tailored fit around my chest and waist, the arms are much more comfortable. I can tell LL Bean is looking for the perfect tailored fit, but this one is a bit off the mark-- well on their way though!
As far as everything else goes, a great shirt. Made of heavy, soft, brushed cotton, and doesn't seem to pill at all. The Dark Gold color will go great with your fall wardrobe. The large brown buttons make great accents when wearing other browns or leather too. Money shirt, would recommend it if you can find the fit you prefer.

If you are looking for the type of LL Bean chamois available in the late 1970s or earlier, this is it. Yes it is a slimmer and slightly shorter cut than the old shirts (although the sleeve length is correct), but the fabric and buttons are like the old shirts. I am 5'10", 158 LBS and the medium is a great fit. The shirt I've had for a year now still looks perfect. I machine wash, but never use the dryer for this shirt. Line drying or drying on a hanger results in a wrinkle free shirt.
I am not a fan of the modern LL Bean chamois shirts -- the fabric is too puffy, is napped inside and out, and pills over time like synthetic fleece. The buttons are too small, too. In the Signature shirts, the nap is on the outside and wears well without any pilling.
