Rated 5 out of 5 by xokensie1 Great shirt and warm
This shirt is fantastic. It has the warmth for Maine and the style that I need. It washes great. The sizing is perfect, I got a XL for reference in the regular LL Bean Chamois I would need Large.

by FoamHeart His Favorite Shirt!
My Pop is 90 years young and now with Alzheimer?s. I noticed that BOTH the arms had holes in them. Then today I realized they were completely worn thru not torn, between the cuffs and the elbow. I was going to throw it away as he has other shirts in his closet he has yet to even wear.
My, what a mistake I made. Seems it?s his favorite shirt! I should have realized, I think he may sleep in it.
So tonight I am calling LLBean hoping that this special anniversary shirt was still available to order a replacement and as always LLBean comes thru.
When someone asks me why I buy from LLBean, its times like this, or the wicked slippers my Mom loved, the ease of exchanges and never a question asked, the top quality products and the kind cheerful and professional CSR's that I have to choose a story to relate.
I wish every company was as professional as LLBean.

Rated 3 out of 5 by downsyterrance great pattern, fit needs major work
my shirt just arrived an hour ago, and i've already been on the phone with LL Bean's stellar customer service for another size.
the timber (camo) fabric pattern is very pretty, the fabric feels great, and the shirt is extremely well constructed.
but what LL Bean lacked four or so years ago when i first purchased a Signature line product still appears to be their achilles' heel, and that's the fit.
i bought a size medium. now i'll say right away that i am taller, and slimmer, (about 6'1" 160lbs), so I give leeway, but I'm still swimming in this shirt. the shoulders are cut correctly, but i'd say the arms are short, and the armholes are a little too wide at the shoulder and tapered, rather than starting with a narrower armhole and reducing taper.
there's too much fabric at the flanks, leaving the back billowy. it's cut pretty straight, rather than being slim towards the waist.
i ordered a small tall in the hopes it'd rectify those fit issues for me without taking too much room out of the chest and shoulders. hopefully it'll work because i do love the look and feel of this piece.
again, all that being said, this shirt is very well constructed, and if they do some rework to the fit, they'd really have something. in addition to twould:
1) extend the opening up the forearm so it's a little easier to roll the sleeves up the forearm.
2) continue the pattern on the interior of the shirt so when i roll the arms i still see the pattern. (personal preference)
3) reinforce the elbows. (i can see what other reviewers meant how the shirt would benefit from a functional standpoint, plus reinforced elbows could look good in this camo pattern)
4) the button placement is just a little conservative for me. i'd change the spacing just a little bit, maybe move the first button down from the collar button a half inch more and use that as your spacing pattern.

I had to have this in Camo. Been collecting all colors! They are crazy comfortable, and very hefty! The colors.... Don't get me started!

This shirt-jacket a bit of a mixed bag. The quality is obvious, but there are some details that could stand improvement.
Pro: The fit is a reasonable "slim": not too loose, and not comically tight. It looks flattering on my moderately athletic frame (a near-exact Medium/40R, at 5' 11"/185 lbs.)... The construction seems bullet-proof: really solid stitching, with a nice heft to the fabric. (Said fabric is also incredibly soft; my gal is all over me when I wear this thing.) The flaps over the breast pockets have a pleasing angle and add visual interest. And the weight is just about perfect for layering, allowing the garment to work as a serviceable outer layer above roughly 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The overall impression is that this soft, comfortable, and handsome shirt will last a long time.
Con: I purchased the "twilight" color, and found it to be a bit greener than the product images implied. I was expecting a simple light blue, but the shirt is actually more of a turquoise color. While not a bad color by any means, this does limit the range of use somewhat. It will look great in the spring, but seems a little "off" for wear in the fall/early winter. Another misleading aspect of the product imagery is that it shows the shirt tucked in; frankly, this is not a good idea, in real life. The shirt is not cut long enough to stay put, and the thick fabric will look unbalanced when tucked into anything less than traditionally full-cut pants (and if -- like me -- you aren't quite "model-thin" in the midsection, the tailoring will highlight this when tucked). However, my biggest complaint regards the cuffs; namely, that they don't really roll up. A collared shirt of any design should allow rolling to above the elbow, but the 1933 Chamois hardly allows it BELOW. You can barely fold the sleeves once, let alone twice, before the arms become uncomfortably tight and you run out of placket to work with. Forget doing some rugged handyman stuff -- you'll be lucky to be able to do the dishes.
Verdict: I'm a bit disappointed, but I'm keeping it (just getting it was a massive hassle, although through no fault of L.L. Bean or their excellent customer service department). I don't plan to use the item as an actual work shirt, so its failings in that area aren't that big of a deal for me. As a relaxed, comfortable, casual layer, this shirt-jacket works great. But those looking for a truly functional piece for messy, outdoor tasks might wish to try something else.

I am on my 3rd shirt 1933 Chamois - love them.
Especially the charcoal colour. Also own a red.
My only complaint is that the elbows have worn out on these shirts far too quickly.
I primarily wear these shirts for working around the house - very casual wear. So kind of surprised that they are that weak in that area.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TallSkinnyGuy Great shirt, some annoyances
This is a really nice, well-made shirt. I bought three, but I'm only going to keep one because this shirt has some annoyances. The sleeves are on the long side- I ordered a Tall Medium, which usually fits me in the Signature Line, but the sleeves were longer than normal. Because the fabric is so thick and has no give, the sleeves can't be easily folded as with typical cotton shirts. Whenever I try, they unfold very easily. This can be annoying when I'm trying to work in the shirt and the sleeves keep getting in the way.
Other than that, this is a really nice shirt!

I find the colors remarkable! Love this shirt in the Brassy Olive tone. Wow! I am 5' 9" and weigh 180lbs. Athletic built. The Medium is fine. A little snug around shoulders, but I think it's perfect! If you want to layer.. please go up a size! These shirts are thick and made well! Love you LL Bean!!

This shirt is closer to the shirts I had on the farm many years ago. In today's words this shirt is tailored fit, meaning if you want extra room inside your shirt go up a size - I am athletic build and only wear a t-shirt under it and that is all I could do unless I order a larger size. Sleeve length is perfect for me as well with enough room to move upper body. It is a short shirttail than the other LL Bean Chamois which I also like! Material is soft and slightly lighter than regular LL Bean Chamois. LL Bean make more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by SeaCoastMountains Excellent Product!
I received a couple gift cards for L.L Bean over the holidays and decided to try this shirt out. When I tried on the shirt I was amazed by how well this shirt fit me. I have a tall/slim build at 6'3, 170lbs. The Medium Tall fit perfectly. If you have a more muscular frame this shirt might be a bit snug, but for tall lean guys this is a great purchase. I plan on buying more in different colors once I get the chance too! Being from New England originally, LL Bean is definitely a great company.
