Rated 2 out of 5áby TortoiseMom Runs small
I usually wear XL or 1X. I ordered 1X and it is small. With just a tee shirt on, it is too tight across the shoulders, upper arms and arm length is a little short. I could get the front zipped, not roomy, and I wouldn't be able to wear a sweater under it. Last spring I ordered a 2X down jacket and that also was small (more like an XL in the shoulders and arms). Returning it.
I didn't realize until I called about returning it that measurements other than what are listed on the website are available by calling i.e. shoulder seam width, etc. I will utilize that in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Stellae Warm and waterproof; My go-to coat!
This is a very warm coat. By adjusting the layers I wear underneath and depending on my activity level, I have found it comfortable to wear with temperatures in the single digits (F) even while standing relatively still (e.g. at the dog park). This will be my third season using this coat as my primary winter coat for temps below 25F. As a Canuck, I have been quite glad for it on visits home where its performance really shines. I hope next time I'm home to be able to wear it skiing!
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this coat, especially to my Canadian friends and family.
Things I like:
- The flannel lining around the collar and at the zipper goes quite low. I have found it comfortable to shrug my shoulders to "hide" more of my face below the collar in the wind.
- The sweatshirt style cuffs keep out wind and snow.
- The double zipper means it's easy to wear in the car without completely undoing the zipper.
- Lots of pockets both inside and out. Outside pockets are flannel lined, nice for chapped hands if you're not wearing gloves.
- Low tail covers your backside enough to keep wind out and fit over snow pants (though not enough to sit on... but who wants to sit if you need this coat?)
Thoughts on improvements for version 2.0:
- Bigger zipper pulls for use with gloves on.
- Larger external cuffs; it's hard to work the external (velcroed) cuffs over the cuffs of ski gloves... especially in gloved hands! I haven't been able to find gloves with cuffs that will fit over these.
- Gussets in the arm pits for more flexibility of movement there
- A little more "articulation" in the elbows

Rated 5 out of 5áby Sanjey Better than ever
Originally I gave this parka 4 stars, but after wearing it for two Maine winters I think it deserves 5. At first it felt heavy and stiff, but it might just have needed wearing in. Now it's comfortable in every way.

Rated 3 out of 5áby CountryGalLovesLLBean Too Much Parka for Me
I sent it back after trying it on and off for 2 days. Collar is much too tall for my short neck and very restrictive if snapped all the way. Hood too thick and very tight if snapped up. Too many inside pockets and did not like microfleece inside of jacket. Was trying to get away from that with purchase of new parka to replace one from 4 years ago. Found the inside sleeves to be annoying as they are not tacked down. I purchased the black w' carbon. Ladies, don't be afraid of carbon color as it has a hint of purple if that is to your liking.

Rated 5 out of 5áby BostonNative Another Wonderful Product
This coat was a gift for a teenager - and that teenager could not have been happier with it. We spent time examining the coat, too. From the overall look of the coat and the softness of the water repellent fabric to the snaps, zippers, pockets, velcro fastenings.. even the little clips in the pockets meant to hold key rings and whatnot.. all were first-rate design and quality materials.
We purchased a Misses Size XS, and it (perfectly) fit a teen who can also wear a 14-16 in children's sizes. The sleeves were not too long, and the length of the coat itself was not quite mid-thigh. Perfect.
If a 15 year old loved it - in a region of the country where LL Bean isn't an instantly recognized name - you know the product is something special.
LL Bean continues to exceed expectations.

Rated 4 out of 5áby Taotaosmom Warm but not my favorite coat
I know I shouldn't buy coats and jackets online but with the spring sales I couldn't resist. Now it is winter and I have a chance to try out this coat.
It is very warm and has been comfortable at -33C windchill last week. The fit is pretty good, with no restriction of the arms when I move them in any direction.
The color, grey and black, is ok, but not great... it is just the color still available in my size. I wish that there were more regular colors for women, like red, black, navy blue, instead of these weird raspberry, purple, teal colors that don't go with any of my regular red and black wardrobe.
That said, grey is ok. The sleeves are JUST long enough, could be longer, for when you reach out and you are in the snow, so you don't get snow in your mitts. The cuffs are very soft and comfortable.
So, why is it not my favorite coat. 1) the hood said fully adjustable, and between my son and myself we have at least 5 LLBean raincoats, windbreakers and winter coats, and most of them have an adjustment that goes vertically down the back of your head, so that the front of the hood can be adjusted forward or back. This is great, so it doesn't hang in your eyes (this hood definitely covers my entire eyes) but can also be loosened to wear over a helmet. Perhaps this would be ok over a helmet, but as is, I cannot see with it on. It DOES have a side to side adjustable elastic (ie from ear to ear behind the back of the head), which would allow great lateral vision if skiing, but since I want it to cut the wind while I walk or use the snowblower, I don't need this adjustment. So 1 star for no adjustment to the hood from brim to back of neck.
Also, the waist elastic adjustment is in the upper chest pockets. This means if you tighten the waist, it bunches the chest down towards the waist in the front and looks very strange. Also, it means you have a large loop of elastic, plus the plastic toggle, in your chest pocket, getting in the way when you are searching for keys or tickets or whatever you keep up there. Impractical, and I have never seen this design before.
All the pockets are not deep enough. When you unzip them enough to get your hand in, the zipper is at the bottom of the pocket, so everything can fall out. There is no depth to the upper or lower front outside pockets below the bottom of the zipper, and the openings are not large enough to keep them partially zipped up and still get inside them.
The inside mesh pockets are very large, but I am not sure what I'd ever use them for. As is, I have keys, notes and kleenex falling out the outside pockets.
And finally, I wish that the front attachments along the zipper flap were snaps and not velcro. My scarf and mitts get caught on the velcro, and if I leave it open, so does my sweater. I have an older winter jacket with snaps and when it is a bit warmer, you can just do a snap or two up instead of zipping it, which is great, and nothing gets caught on snaps. The zipper itself is a bit iffy sometimes: you must make certain the pull is absolutely at the bottom or it won't start zipping up. Takes some time to do up.
That said, it is a very warm jacket, sheds water well, the back is lower than the front and covers my butt which stays nice and warm. It has gone through the wash, like all LLBean coats I've had, and come out looking brand new. The fabric is nice and rugged.
I just wish for a better, adjustable hood, better pockets, and better adjustment elastic that doesn't bunch up the coat weirdly.

Rated 4 out of 5áby Joshkosh Lose the velcro closure-put in snaps over the zip!
I have had a Rugged Ridge Parka for years and love everything about it, except I have always wished it had strong snaps--such as those at the neck--all the way down the front over the zipper. Some times I want to just quickly snap up when it is not too cold, especially just for trips to take my dog outside. The velcro rectangles are pretty wimpy and don't hold together at all without zipping the coat. And velcro wears out over time, whereas snaps keep working well.
I love the non-fleece inside lining that goes on easily over sweaters and fleece, I love all of the pockets--and the waterproof finish is decent. Keep all of these great features, and add strong snaps, and this is the coat I will buy forever!

Rated 5 out of 5áby bjh52 New Parka ... Feels so comfortable and warm :)
This jacket holds true to its word...so comfortable and warm, just what I wanted for the upcoming winter. Well worth the money.
The only negative I have is the picture looked like more of a green color than being Teal but that's really not a bad thing in my book...Thank you LL Bean for another great product!

Rated 2 out of 5áby taliana great?but not
I've had this coat for three years now and it's GREAT??.. except the sleeves are a bit too short. If I hold the sleeves down they fit perfectly, but since the coat bunches up the arm (not in a weird way) the sleeves run up to hit me just above the wrist. This problem could be solved with a great pair of gloves, but since this coat has so much velcro (and has already damaged a few pairs of gloves) it's completely impossible to make it work. I've already cut off the top few velcro closures, by the neck, to keep my scarves saved, and I'm thinking about doing the whole coat and putting in buttons snaps in it's place.
Despite the sleeve problem (which llbean seams to have with many of their coats), and all the velcro (which some people may like), it is an attractive coat. Although it is very roomy, there's two drawstrings that cinch everything up nicely. I also like the patches on it, I think they're flattering. It's very warm (except for by my wrists). I also really like the collar, it goes up pretty high and is soft. I appreciate the number of pockets it has. All in all, it's a great coat?. but the "except's" are enough of a problem to give this coat only 2 stars.
sizing: I'm 5'4, 110 lbs. I got the petiteS. When I called to ask about the sleeves and sizing, I was told that the regularS would have the same sleeves, just roomier in the waist. The mediums did have longer sleeves, but would have also been far too large in the body. If only I could get the sleeves of a M coat, and the body of a petiteXS this would really be the greatest coat of all.
