I agree with another reviewer that found the length to be short. In fact I am 5'1" and wear a petite small or x-small and found the sleeves short and the neck was so stiff, it would not lay down without unzipping it 4-6 inches which made for a very cold neck; also when I tried to snap it closed, it was way too small. I will add that this jacket has been offered for the last several years. I had hoped they would improve it but they have not. Sadly, I have bought winter jackets here for many years but this one is so disappointing that I will look elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by skiinggranny It's really warm!
So many jackets claim to keep you warm in really cold conditions but this one actually does. I live in Wisconsin, the last few winters have been brutally cold. This jacket fit well, can zip all the way up and the zipper stays up, has nice cuffs, and the length is great..

Rated 2 out of 5 by BeanBootBuyer2014 Rugged Ridge Parka - Too Short
I am disappointed in the way LL Bean products fit lately. I ordered this parka online, based on my experience with a similar LL Bean parka that I have had for several years. However, the body of this parka is far too short for a woman of average height (5' 6"). It does not fall at mid-thigh as described. The torso is so short that the waist cord drawstring is not at the waist, making for a very unflattering fit. The sleeve length is fine. I will be returning this coat to the store, and I doubt if I will ever consider buying another expensive LL Bean coat again.

I love this jacket it's very warm blocks the wind and love the the cuffs in the sleeves to keep your arms warm. I like things big so i went with a size larger than what i needed to layer but i'm happy with it..
The only downfall with the jacket in my opinion is that you have two zippers and like another woman it's hard to zip them both quickly: but once you get them zipped its great!! I love the way it allows you to open the bottom of the coat when ur driving so that it doesn't feel tight and confining against ur legs. This is why i gave the jacket a four star is because of trying to zip it quicker of course if u didn't have the second zipper you wouldn't be able to unzip it either so it's kinda of a catch 22..Like i said once u get it zipped it great!!!

I absolutely love this jacket IF I am able to get it zipped up. It is warm and toasty. However, I can only get the zipper to go up about one in ten times trying. I have tried with glasses and without. I have tried in good lighting and poor lighting. It seems to not make any difference. The worst times are when I'm leaving a restaurant or party and look like a fool standing at the door near tears because I CAN'T ZIP my jacket. Sometimes I just overlap one side over the other like a robe and race to the car. Am I the only one with this problem?

Rated 5 out of 5 by DeeTumbleweed best coat ever
I saw this coat on clearance and since we were going away the next weekend snowmobiling and my old coat has cold spots where the insulation has moved(not a bean coat) I thought I would take the chance. I was a little scared by a few of the reviews but ordered it anyway. I paid the $15mg shipping and it arrived in "2"days..... it was a little stiff when I put it on but it's new...... now it is perfect. The fit is right on! I don't know if people don't know their size or think they are smaller than they really are, but.... I am 5'4" and 115lbs, small frame. I got the small hoping I would have room for a sweater underneath. You DON'T need one. I wore my bean long underwear top & an active top by bean over it. We went up north and the temps were -0 I was way warm! If we stopped I had to open my zipper. You could feel the wind almost pushing you off the sled, but I swear to you I felt no breeze or cold anywhere from this coat. I do have plenty of room if I did need an extra layer but with the drawstring you can take out any slack. I don't know what people are talking about with the fit, but I give this coat a 100%

Rated 5 out of 5 by travellllller My daughter LOVES this coat
Our teenage daughter was in dire need of a winter coat. She has hated every coat I have attempted to order until she saw this one. She loved it from the minute she saw it. The sizing chart was accurate. The coat arrived and was a perfect fit. She LOVES it. She has already been out in the snow in it and said it is soo warm. I will say, it is VERY heavy. I was stunned at how heavy it was. I thought it was going to be thin and light weight- but it is not. She is fine with the weight of the coat because of how it looks and how warm it is. It seems to be very well made and I would definitely recommend it to others.

After many many years of wearing the same rugged ridge parka (which is still in perfect condition), I decided it was time for a new color. I just received the new jacket (Petite Small - my normal size) and when I tried it on, found that the sleeves and the overall length of the jacket were far too short (even for someone 5' tall). I prefer to have a jacket cover my backside when I'm shoveling, walking, or shopping in cold New England weather. Guess the new style jacket is not for me; I'll continue to rely on my tried and true rugged ridge jacket from years ago.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NEmom123 Great features, weird fit
This coat is very, very warm, and seems like it would be really waterproof. I like how high it zips and the hood coverage, but. . . it is a bit heavy and bulky, and has a pretty unflattering fit. The strangest thing, as another reviewer mentioned, is that you can tighten the fit around the middle. However you have to pull a cord inside the two front pockets, which are placed too high, so it just has this weird-looking bulge in the front of the jacket. I'm not sure if I'll keep it because of this, which is disappointing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by chilyn91 Not the same as the old version!
Like many other reviewers, I replaced my older version Rugged Ridge Parka with this Parka and was not thrilled with the way the coat runs....the cut runs overall on the small and short side, especially with the sleeves. The jacket is shorter too, which I like though, as I felt the older version was too long! Thankfully the sleeves have the cuff inserts to give you a little "extension" feel.I ordered a size S and M and am still debating to keep the M or not...as the S is definitely too small and short and the M is still a little snug in the shoulder area. I am 5'5" and 116 lbs only, and I know the L will be too big! Still seems like a very nice jacket.
