Rated 4 out of 5áby ChrisFromNewEngland Great extra-warm, casual jacket
I bought this coat at an L.L. Bean outlet after comparing it to the 2014+ version. This coat felt more substantial, robust and not that much heavier than the newer, lighter version.
I am 5'8, 170 and a medium fits well, with room for layers. It packs down nicely when I'm in a bucket seat and lofts up well when I'm walking around. A few days after I bought it I went on a trip that involved subjecting it to very strong winds and precipitation, and it held up flawlessly. I've had no issues with the zipper(s). The length and fit are nice. This coat could accommodate a wide mid-section, but the waist pull ins are quite effective. The cuffs are excellent.
I give it 4-4.5 stars. The hood could be more articulated, with the adjustments focusing on better aspects of fit. It is too tall, and this jacket is too casual to be designed around alpine helmets. It's too tall/awkward even for my ski helmet. The back doesn't necessarily need to be smoother, but a bit of silver lining may improve the _massive_ static cling. I also would have liked there to be more literature/tagging that explained where Primaloft Sport fit in the lineup of Primaloft 1, Eco, etc. I would have been elated to find this coat available with Primaloft 1 (and I'd pay the price premium for that, combined with a more articulated hood).
This is the nicest heavily shelled 'puffy' I've ever owned. You only feel the lightness of the down against your skin and the weight of the shell is just lofted away.

Rated 5 out of 5áby breezewood Great for cold and snow!
I have worn jacket for two winters now and extremely satisfied. With just a t-shirt underneath I stay warm in 20 degree temps. Wind and snow does not penetrate and is not too bulky. A very cozy jacket for my winter walks.

Rated 2 out of 5áby larryp126 had 3 of these in a row; zipper doesn't work
I thought by the time I got a third one I finally had a Rugged Ridge Parka where the zipper works. It does: 1 out of 10 times. Unbelievable.

Rated 5 out of 5áby OldManAdventures Water and Bullet Proof Winter Jacket
I have used this jacket for two years of winter snow blowing, lumberjacking, dog walking in the woods, on the beach in NE'ter storms with 50mph wind down to -10F, snow, hale and rain. This is a winter jacket for below freeing, very worm, windproof, waterproof yet not swetty even lumberjacking chord wood. The shell fabric is waterproof, bulletproof no tears in the brush or hauling wood after two years! I am +6ft a Large Tall is great fit, no sleeve gap with winter gloves doing overhead work. Lots of pockets for gloves hat and chanesaw/snowblower tools. The dirty/greasy jacket does cleanup like new in the washer and dryer.

Rated 5 out of 5áby WoodTracker Best Rugged Ridge Parka...EVER!!
Even though this particular Rugged Ridge Parka is a previous year's model ( 2013, I assumed), all the features it has FAR outweigh the current model ( 2014/2015 ). I bought it on sale the moment I saw it and returned the 2014/15 Rugged Ridge Parka model. I am 5'9" and weight 155lbs and a Large fits me perfect with ample room for layering. The insulation and outside fabric material on the 2013 model are equal if not BETTER than the current model, my opinion. Better robust material and more pockets. New is not always better!! Glad that LLBean brought back a classic!!!!!

This coat arrived yesterday, just in time for my husband to try it after lunch. At about 8 degrees with wind gusting to 58 mph, he said this was dramatically warmer than the coat he was wearing earlier in the day. He could not feel the wind through the coat at all which is a nice change from his Columbia coats.
Bye-bye Columbia, hello LL Bean. He liked it so much, I just ordered one for myself today.

Bought this parka in December 2013 and have worn it in the cold windy Midwest conditions. It is very warm and resists the wind very well. Love all the zippered pockets to keep wallet, cell phone, keys, etc. Also the pockets inside for storing the gloves when not in use. Have not had any problems with the front zipper at all or any other features of the parka Am 6' tall and 180 lbs. Bought a large and it fits great. Did have a couple of questions regarding the coat. Couldn't find the waist draw strings which are located in a zippered pocket above the bottom side pocket. Customer service was great to help me out.

Extremely high quality construction. True fitting. Very clever pocketing. Holds up to New England winters; my go to jacket for shoveling and public outings. Exceptionally warm. If you wear this after being outside, you WILL sweat. A solid choice. Simple, classic look. Hoping for years of use.

I just received my parka in the royal blue/black. I'm 6', 155 pounds, and the medium fits very well; it would accommodate a sweater or vest. I thought that I preferred the new version of this parka, but the daily markdown tipped the scales. It turns out that while the new one is lighter in weight--as advertised---it gives up some desirable features: the front pockets of the former version are concealed, making for a neater look; the two upper pockets for warming hands and containing the torso adjustment cords are very practical (why would you remove pockets??); the shoulder material seems more abrasion resistant. Twenty percent less weight is nice, but not at these tradeoffs. The blue color was darker, not as bright, as the new version of blue, and that works better for me. If you want a Ridge parka, you might consider giving last year's model a look.

Great Parka! Bought this for my father to replace his old jacket. Has many pockets placed conveniently. He is very happy with it and has had it for a year keeps him warm all through winter. He sends it to cleaner twice in winter, and he could not recommend it enough to his friends. The up-down zipper is a great added bonus since he has trouble putting the zipper together he put the zipper half way and takes it off like a sweat shirt so he never has to worry about having somebody help him hook the zipper to put it on.
