This parka arrived just in time for a very long, very cold Minnesota winter. The hood, while a little too large, which could limit vision to the sides, did a great job of capturing heat normally lost from the head area. By unzipping the coat, I was able to wear it while in malls or stores without getting overheated. Did a great job keeping me warm when worn over a light shirt when the temps were above zero. Add a polar fleece top and it was good to go in the negative 20 range. I really like the interior pockets; great place to stash large mittens. This is the first winter jacket that I have ever received compliments on, from a large number of friends and strangers. A great parka.

I was very surprised at what I got even at the sale price: the hood was oddly shaped ending in a cone head with my baseball cap on. The body was square even though I am fairly stout for my size ( and not a pound overweight, I must add) . The design is just not flattering . The black fleece at the neck should be the same color as the jacket ( as it used to be time ago) and it needs more insulation for a true winter ( below 40, let's say) jacket. With this one one needs a sweater to keep warm and an oxford or flannel under that. Finally, it looks no better than many run-of-the-mill companies that charge about fifty percent less. Not recommended .

This coat isn't perfect, but is as close to perfect as I could find. What I liked: It feels like I am wearing armor against the cold. In sub-zero temps and sub-zero windchill whatever the coat covers stays warm, and the wind absolutely does not penetrate. If you want a warm coat, get this one. Now for some minor issues. The lower hand-warmer pockets are a little small for my liking. Also, I am 6'2" and 175 lbs. I really wish the coat came in medium tall. The medium fits pretty well, but I would have liked it a bit longer in the arms and waste. The large tall was just too bulky. Lastly the cuffs are pretty tight to go over the cuff of a glove. My dislikes are very minor. I still love the coat and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone wanting a very warm winter coat. To top it off, my 12 year old daughter who is all about fashion said it met with her approval. Thanks LL Bean for another great product.

The Rugged Ridge Parka fits well, is not baggy, but leaves room for layers. Even on 20 degree days or colder I wear only a t-shirt under it when out doing errands & maybe a hoodie when at a freezing football game. I have worn this almost daily for 4 months. A word about size & fit: I am 5-10, 235#, 46 waist, 17.5-35 in LL Bean Oxford shirt, and the XXL Regular is perfect for me. In past I have bought XXL Tall in some items but in my rather full-figured case XXL Reg works best. Lots of inside & outside pockets; there are two inside open sack-like pockets for anything from glasses to baseball caps. I bought the Loden, which is not too dark a green & has a pleasing look in my eye. Recommended without reservation.

It's a gift to my brother who has been looking for a coat to wear on cold days in Northern Virginia. The coat fits him well. It's comfortable, and keeps him warm. I highly recommend it. By the way, I got the coat with the color my brother likes at great sale price. Thanks LLBean.

This has become my "go to" parka for our blustery New England winters. I require a full 35" sleeve for my arms, but a Large for chest size, so that dictated getting a Tall Large even though I am just shy of 6' tall. It fits very well, and provides excellent protection against wind, snow and rain. The hood is zippered on, and so does not allow cold wind to enter, and is also insulated so it provides more head warmth than most parkas. I have had it for 2 years, and it remains in excellent condition. Highly recommended.

Got a one size large for comfort and unrestricted. Was walking outside here in Utah that it is so insulated, just wearing a T-shirt underneath is good enough. If i were to shovel my driveway and side walk, I had to wear something else. the rugged parka is too hot to wear. Has many pockets to store all your small items with you. This is the best parka I ever worn. Wish I had this while living at Alaska and Boston during the winters.

I have owned this parka for 5 years toasty warm,great wind break and resists wet.but the zipper has always been tricky.It finally gave ou at the bottom.So I had to send it back .for $36.50(for return shipping) they will fix it.And have it for 2-3 weeks in the dead of winter.
