Rated 5 out of 5 by ihaveahappyhusband Best thing I ever bought for my husband.
This jacket is everything you advertised! I gave it to my husband as soon as it arrived and it's the only jacket that he will wear! It's well made and worth every penny I paid for it.

Bought this jacket about 3 months ago and have worn it all winter. The fit is roomy but not bulky. The quality and workmanship is great. I wasn't sure I would like a jacket with a zip out liner, but it is quick and easy to remove or put back. I live in the south so this jacket can handle 99% of our winter weather (everything above single digit low's).
I have high standards for anything I buy and LL Bean always lives up to my expectations. This jacket is no exception. Keep up the good work!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rhaspun Good quality jacket.
The jacket as is with most LLBean jackets fits me just fine. I ordered the jacket in a large size. I'm 6-1,190lbs and with 33-34 inch sleeve length. The jacket is kind of stiff right now but I imagine with more usage the jacket will relax. Not a heavy coat but I always wear in layers so it won't be a problem for me. Good quality construction.

Rated 4 out of 5 Very sturdy jacket
This is a very sturdy jacket that should stand up to a lot of abuse. The zippers have large teeth and do not bind on the adjacent fabric. However, even with the lining zipped out, the jacket is too heavy for you to want to take it off and put it in your backpack.

Rated 2 out of 5 by cityman all season 3 in 1
Very heavy and bulky. The knit collar of the liner makes it worse. Material is too stiff that allow cold air goes inside the jacket. Could not wear all season if you live in a big city like NYC. There is no inside pocket when combined. Not convinient to wear for long trip traveling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SouthernBeanie Bought this for my college boy
My son requested a warm raincoat for what we Georgians perceive as cold weather (20-30 degrees F); wimps, I know. He says that the coat (NOT using the zip out lining) is as warm as anything he will ever need in northeast GA. If he travels somewhere really cold, he might need the lining. The quality is excellent and the fabric is very good looking. We are pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ohiobeanman A 2-piece jacket with a great look!
Overview
The weekend I received my jacket, I was rainy and 60 degrees. But Monday, things turned and it was 27 degrees and windy (gotta love Ohio). This jacket was amazing in both conditions. Kept me dry during downpours (shell), warm when the rain stopped (liner), and comfy when it turned cold (the combo). The wind was no match for shell.
This is by far the best jacket I have owned, and it looks great, too. (I got the grey). Don't buy it for skiing or long hikes in the backwoods. Going to work, walking the dog, errands, and everything else around town are, to me, what this jacket was built for.
The Fit
First, let me second all of the other reviews that mention the fit is a little more "snug" than other LL Bean products. I normally wear medium Bean shirts, and large shirts swim on me. However, I took a chance on getting a large in this jacket (medium was out of stock), partially based on the reviews. I am ecstatic that I did. I am 5'9" 175, wear a size 44 jacket, and the large is perfect. I can only imagine that the medium would be way too tight.
The Shell
It's not your typical ski jacket. The shell has a twill texture that reminds me of a cotton duck. It's stiffer than my ski jacket, but looks much nicer. And that is precisely why I got it.
I wanted something I could wear to work without looking like I had just gotten back from a ski trip, but also wouldn't compromise on warmth and wind/waterproofing. I think this is the perfect balance of a convertible jacket and a dressier coat. Wool dress coats and trenches never really stood up to the long walk from the parking lot.
Pockets (both in an out) are perfectly placed, and the inner zipper cover keep the metal off your mouth when completely bundled up. The only shortcoming I see is that there are not "pit vents." We'll see how this shakes out this spring.
Liner
Looks nice enough, and is reasonably warm on its own. Pockets, again, are placed well.
Combo
Super warm and looks great, but it is a tad on the heavy side when it's completely put together. Although, as I have mentioned, it's not a tactical/ski jacket. It's a great looking coat that offers the versatility of a two piece design.
Don't buy it for skiing or long hikes in the backwoods. Going to work, walking the dog, errands, and everything else around town are, to me, what this jacket was built for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by healsing Warm coat!
I had just purchased a similar coat from a well known manufacturer for twice the cost. The salesman I worked with assured me that it was of the newest technological make up and very warm. I wore it on a 40 degree day and was cold the entire day.
Then a week later I purchased this coat and was already suspicious of the Primaloft insulation but gave it a chance. I was very pleasantly surprised. This coat is warm even without a base layer. The outer fabric is a little stiff but that is my only negative. This coat is a very good value and has a very neat, non bulky appearance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by kb4eating A great buy!
Honestly this was a last minute x-mas gift for my husband. Fortunately it was a great gift. The hub loves this jacket, he's still finding more things about it that he likes...like the continuous loop toggle on the hood and bottom....the pocket placements...and it's super ability to protect against wind and rain. LLBean is the only place I buy outerwear. Period.

Came the Monday after the Friday I ordered it! Just in time for the beginning of true winter weather up here in Burlington, VT. Couldn't have arrived more in the nick of time!
Love its versatility. I ride a bicycle year-round and now have THE GEAR I need to do so comfortably. Would recommend it to anyone in similar circumstances. The key word to me was "waterproof" because I DO ride in the rain, but its other attributes in cold weather are welcome relief as well. Have had some nights riding home when it was in the teens but was perfectly comfortable. Once again thanks for a great product!
