Rated 5 out of 5 by Andrew3239 Best Backpack I've Ever Owned
I received this backpack as a birthday gift just before entering my freshman year of high school. I had been begging my parents for it for years, and they finally gave in. This backpack has exceeded all of my expectations. I am graduating high school in less than a month, and this bag shows almost no signs of aging. It has withstood four years of honors and AP coursework being constantly lugged around, along with countless vacations and camping trips and overnight trips and trips to the beach or to a friends house or anywhere else you could imagine. There is nothing that this bag cannot carry. It is a must have for high school and beyond. I recommend it to every single person that gives me the chance. My future family will never own anything other than an LLBean Backpack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Matliff Excellent pack
I have owned this pack for over 10 years. As an avid day hiker, camper, and active full time fireman, I use this pack daily to carry anything that I could get to fit in it from large rocks to my 15lb dogs. Ive used it as a carry-on overnight bag for planes and a change of clothes on overnight hikes. I'm looking to replace it because all the heavy duty things i have transported through the years has caused the waterproof lining to deteriorate. One of the best features is the "shoe/boot" compartment on bottom. It keeps my dirty shoes away from my clean clothes. I am buying the same bag for replacement. just wish they still had it in hunter green

by Poolah It's falling apart after less than a year of use
My son has to carry a lot of books every day to school. This is why I got him this bag last year; it is specifically advertised to withstand heavy loads. This is why I was surprised when I found that the top strap, the plastic attachments for the bungee chord, and the arm straps began to unravel at the seams, less than three months into its life. I didn't buy him a bag at the beginning of the school this year to replace this poor excuse for a backpack. The top strap is completely broken now and the arm straps have continued to fray. It is falling apart. LL Bean is known for its quality, and because of this I am very disappointed.

LL Bean makes the best backpacks that hold up. My 12 year old son out grew the first LLBean backpack and this is the replacement. All three of my kids have LL Bean backpacks and they've all held up with no issues.

Rated 3 out of 5 by BRCD7248 Spacious yes! Durable No!
This is the second Turbo Transit Pack in the last year that I am returning. The first one I purchased for my middle school aged son in Sept. 2013. It was at the end of the school year that I saw the inside liner of the pack had come apart. I ordered the second Turbo Transit Pack in the summer of 2014 and the plastic hooks on the outside of the pack that hold the elastic band/strap are coming apart. This is really disappointing quality from LL Bean. Their older back packs seem to have been more durable. On the plus side this pack is quite large. It holds a lot of stuff binders included! I love the compartment on the bottom of the pack, perfect for gym clothes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by UncleErnie Best money I ever spent
I've only had this backpack a couple of weeks, so I cannot comment on its longevity or how it works in inclement weather. I bike about 8 miles round trip to school & work, and have to carry lunch and dinner, books, and changes of clothes for class and work. My previous backpack was not big enough and wasn't designed in a way that I needed it to work. The things I love most about this backpack are as follows:
*Handle on the side, excellent for accessing bottom shoe pouch
*Bottom shoe pouch is where I carry heavy things like leaky lunch items (and they lay flat!), bike lock, and yes, shoes
*All the big compartments have wrap-around zippers so that I can easily get to the stuff in the bottom
*Shoulder straps are so comfortable, it's ridiculous
*3 large compartments allow me to separate my books from my sweaty bike clothes, from food, purse, etc.
Love this backpack!
If I had to be picky and site improvements for future designs, I would suggest more reflective surface areas on the back, and maybe a larger waterproof pocket in the back compartment, so that computer could fit in there.

Rated 1 out of 5 by lifelongstudent89 Great for dropping your stuff
I've been using this backpack for the last few months and am very disappointed in it. If you don't zip it up just right, the whole thing unzips itself all the way down to the base of the backpack and spills all your things over the ground. I have no idea why some backpacks unzip further than half way down. As a result, it dropped my laptop onto the sidewalk... twice. I'm very unhappy with this.
Furthermore, I didn't even want this backpack in the first place. I had a different LLBean backpack all through college. It was much nicer looking, and the zipper only went half way down the backpack -- as ALL BACKPACKS SHOULD. Anyway, my original backpack developed a tear in it within the last year. I still used it happily but my father in law sent it in to get me a new one. It was nice of him but LLBean sent me this backpack instead. Much uglier and much MUCH clumsier than my original LLBean.
I'd recommend this backpack to anyone who has fragile items that they'd like to see broken on the sidewalk. For those of you who value your valuables, get a backpack with a zipper that only goes half way down the backpack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mommy2twinboys LOVE!! school sports?? YOU NEED THIS!!!!!!!
I have twin boys that are in 7th grade. They have multiple binders, books, lunch bag and don't forget the cinch sak with all of the after school soccer stuff in it, oh and a water bottle....this back pack is everything and more!! We upgraded to this from the deluxe and there is room for everything. All of the sport stuff goes in the bottom of the bag in a cinch sak. the pocket behind that fits the lunch bag and water bottle and then the huge area for the school supplies. we have been very happy with these. we chose the night color and the red and they are beautiful!!!! you will not be disappointed!

This is a nice, big bag for a high schooler. It seems tough but we've only had it a few weeks so time will tell. Plenty of room for textbooks, binders, etc., which is not easy to find in a backpack these days.

Bought this to replace an LL bean crossbody bag because my son has so many more books in middle school and the cross body was too heavy and he couldn't fit his gym uniform sneakers and books in one bag. This bag fits it all. He is happy and still takes the cross body on days with a light schedule. We bought it in orange, his favorite color and he loves it. Great quality from LLBean.
