I purchased this duffel to match the Sea-Washed Canvas courier bag I purchased about a year ago. I take a lot of weekend trips and day trips, and wanted a smaller bag. It is every bit as good as I expected.
The good features:
More spacious than you'd expect: one compartment that's big enough to hold a weekend's worth of clothes, one compartment that can easily hold a pair of shoes.
Enough handles so that you can carry it in several different ways, and a shoulder strap that swivels to untwist itself.
Classic looks with a military touch. (My luggage tags are custom dog tags with my name and address.)
Be aware:
This is a canvas duffel. The duffel itself is heavier than a the Adventure Totes of the same size, because it's made from cotton canvas and not from nylon.

Like the classic look. Able to pack more in it than expected, that being said I still wish it was a little bigger, reason I gave it a 4 and not a 5.

This is a great duffle bag.
It's a little bit smaller than the one I was replacing, so I've had to adapt a bit in what and how I pack. But, it works great none the less.
If this bag were available in a slightly larger size, about 25% larger, I'd be first in line to buy it.

Picture and cost made it look bigger.
For this price it should have twice this size.

My girlfriend keeps hiding it because she wants it. Very well made and cool duffel bag. You can always squeeze in one more thing in this bag. I do wish that it was a little bigger though as its really only good for maybe a weekend trip. The outside zip pockets are useful for your smaller items such as wallet, or keys. I have many duffel bags and this is by far my favorite.
5 star if it last for years as my other LL Bean bags have.

I've had this bag for about 4 months now. I use it primarily as a gym bag but I had occasion to use it to carry on a flight and it was great for me. It fit my camera bag, a sweatshirt and magazines and more. I use it almost daily. It was a little more than I wanted to spend but it meets my needs quite nicely!

Excellent "do anything" bag. Great look and style. I wanted the unstructured character for stuffing in overheads or under seats. Primary use is airline carry-on and road trips. Fits nooks and crannies and holds a great amount of stuff. Only serious improvement would be to give the canvas a strong water repellency. I've used a product designed for canvas boots and other footwear. Not waterPROOF, but it gives a valuable dryness edge.

Although the construction and quality is good, it is a little too small. No inside pockets either. I have sent it back BUT, the medium adventure rolling duffel bag for a few dollars more had greater functionality which I purchased and plan on getting the larger one for longer trips.

I initially purchased this duffle for its rugged, yet sophisticated look, not to mention that it truely resembles something military issue! This is a very versatle duffle, with the perfect number of compartments at 3. There's the larger main compartment that holds the bulk of your items, such as clothes and toiletries for a weekend getaway, a slender side compartment that is just as long as the duffle itself, and is perfect for a few magazines, books, or even a laptop, and finally an exterior zippered pocket, perfect for holding your wallet, keys and bording pass. This duffle is perfect for just about any job. The thick canvas is extremely durable, yet surprisingly light weight. The only down side is that the duffle is not water proof, then again I don't plan on leaving it out in the rain that much either. What it lacks in not being water repellent, it more than makes up for in being made of a material that will breathe, which I've found to me a much more desirable tradeoff. All in all, I am thrilled with this purchase, and look forward to purchasing other pieces of luggage from LL Bean, that will coordinate nicely with it!

I use this bag to carry my everyday EMS gear. Built well, lots of useful pockets. I have used this duffle for almost a year now nearly everday and it still looks brand new! Only complaint no structure to the base, whole thing kind of sags when picked up. I'm going to order one of the other duffles with reinforced bottom for my stuff. I'm sure I'll find another use for this one though! Still love the bag.
