Rated 4 out of 5 by MIMomma So far so good
We've have this collar for just a few weeks now with our male Boxer and have been very happy with it. The collar is turned on by simply touching part of the remote to it, making it very convenient to turn on/off while the dog is wearing it. The only minor complaint is regarding the charging of the collar/remote - there is no indicator as to when the pieces are done charging. The directions state you simply charge for 10 hours. Nothing major but a little less than ideal.

We are very happy with the results. Daily we typically only use the pulse, at level 40. This allows the dog to have freedom and us not holding a lead.
The unit didn't come with directions, but if you follow logic, give a command and then pulse or nick/continuous your dog will get the picture.
Beware anytime a dog is off lead, you run the risk of the dog being injured.

I purchased this collar a couple of weeks ago and it has been a life saver. We have a new rescue dog and it has greatly assisted in her assimilation into the family. I would definitely purchase again.

SubVet571 This is a GREAT tool
I have had the Dogtra for about three months now. I initially was afraid our dog would associate the collar with the corrections and it would be a pain to put it on. But our German Shepherd associates the collar with going outside and playing, not the corrections. There is no anxiety with putting it on, except by my wife, who refuses to use it. The collar comes with 3 different correction modes, 1-vibrate (preset and not adjustable) 2-a single pulse and 3-continuous pulse for up to 20 seconds. The unit has a digital readout with setting from 1-100 on the pulse strength. I have used it on myself up to 60, to sample what I was exposing the dog to, with a tolerable discomfort. The unit does not burn the skin or knock the dog down. It is a reinforcement of your directions to the dog if they are in a remote area where you don't have a leash that reaches. It basically allows you to correct the dog from afar, while the dog thinks...Wow, the boss can still get me, I had better listen!
I have only used the continous one time in 3 months and that was early on. I was taught to use a low setting, ie;30 or so and if the dog doesn't respond, turn it up immediately to 50, then 70 then 90 until you get the response you need. I NEVER got above 30, she responded VERY QUICKLY. I have never had to use it in continous again, the vibration is all she needs. Our Shepherd is a sight dog, she sees things and bang she is off... a quick vibration corrects that immediately, she doesn't even pull on her leash when we walk now. THIS WAS THE BEST PURCHASE I HAVE MADE FOR OUR DOG. Well worth the money "10 stars".

Rated 5 out of 5 by dogtraining Great product
If you are looking for a great training collar then this is the one. I have a Ridgeback and this fits him very well. So far I have had the collar for a month and it's great. The battery last decently. I don't keep it on for the whole day just only when I go outside. I do advise anyone who is a first timer with a training collar know how to use it with the dog. It doesn't come with any instruction so make sure you know how to train the dog properly otherwise it's cruel to the animal. It's pretty expensive however it's worth getting it from LLbean.com because of there warranty that many other website don't have.
