Rated 5 out of 5 by SandDee Great Product for training your dogs
I have trained 3 rescued Rottweilers using this collar to walk on a leash, stay in the yard, and not bark or run to other dogs. Recently started training a new rescued Rotti who is charging at cars and the vacuum cleaner. They do not associate the collar w/ fear or punishment. When the collars come out they know they are going outside for a walk, on the porch or patio, or a ride in the truck to a park to run. They eagerly raise their heads to have the collars put on. Very easy to use and train. Dogs learn quickly and soon respond to the vibration and the nick is rarely needed. Batteries are long lasting and the cost of generic replacements are reasonable.

So far, so good! The Dogtra Element 300M is making a tremendous difference in my terrier/sight hound mix's willingness to respond when called. She is very sensitive to the vibration, so I have not yet had to use the nick to get her attention and response. She is a bit nervous since implementing the collar, but nothing traumatic, just less willing to bound through the woods and run out of sight. I am very hopeful that this tool will allow her to enjoy more off-leash time (which she loves and needs).
The collar and remote charged quickly and completely. One thing to remember is to make sure both are turned on before use. The collar is very adjustable and relatively light weight. I think it is the perfect size for my 30 pound, short-haired dog. If you have a dog with long hair, you might need to get prong extensions.
I selected this model because is was the least expensive in its class (1/2 mile radius). While my dog hasn't really tested its strength, I am very happy with its performance.

We bought this collar to replace one that didn't work. A bit pricey, but seems to work well as long as you respond quickly to your dog's behavior. I like the ease of the vibration button on the front. (The "zap" button is on the side, not to be confused!). The only problem I find is that if my dog suddenly takes off over a hill or down a valley, the line of sight doesn't seem to work so you have to be quick on the response (especially if your wearing thick mittens!). Charging is easy although I do find that it runs out of juice after a couple of days but this may be that I forgot to turn it off!

We've have this collar for just a few weeks now with our male Boxer and have been very happy with it. The collar is turned on by simply touching part of the remote to it, making it very convenient to turn on/off while the dog is wearing it. The only minor complaint is regarding the charging of the collar/remote - there is no indicator as to when the pieces are done charging. The directions state you simply charge for 10 hours. Nothing major but a little less than ideal.

We are very happy with the results. Daily we typically only use the pulse, at level 40. This allows the dog to have freedom and us not holding a lead.
The unit didn't come with directions, but if you follow logic, give a command and then pulse or nick/continuous your dog will get the picture.
Beware anytime a dog is off lead, you run the risk of the dog being injured.

I purchased this collar a couple of weeks ago and it has been a life saver. We have a new rescue dog and it has greatly assisted in her assimilation into the family. I would definitely purchase again.

by SubVet571 This is a GREAT tool
I have had the Dogtra for about three months now. I initially was afraid our dog would associate the collar with the corrections and it would be a pain to put it on. But our German Shepherd associates the collar with going outside and playing, not the corrections. There is no anxiety with putting it on, except by my wife, who refuses to use it. The collar comes with 3 different correction modes, 1-vibrate (preset and not adjustable) 2-a single pulse and 3-continuous pulse for up to 20 seconds. The unit has a digital readout with setting from 1-100 on the pulse strength. I have used it on myself up to 60, to sample what I was exposing the dog to, with a tolerable discomfort. The unit does not burn the skin or knock the dog down. It is a reinforcement of your directions to the dog if they are in a remote area where you don't have a leash that reaches. It basically allows you to correct the dog from afar, while the dog thinks...Wow, the boss can still get me, I had better listen!
I have only used the continous one time in 3 months and that was early on. I was taught to use a low setting, ie;30 or so and if the dog doesn't respond, turn it up immediately to 50, then 70 then 90 until you get the response you need. I NEVER got above 30, she responded VERY QUICKLY. I have never had to use it in continous again, the vibration is all she needs. Our Shepherd is a sight dog, she sees things and bang she is off... a quick vibration corrects that immediately, she doesn't even pull on her leash when we walk now. THIS WAS THE BEST PURCHASE I HAVE MADE FOR OUR DOG. Well worth the money "10 stars".

If you are looking for a great training collar then this is the one. I have a Ridgeback and this fits him very well. So far I have had the collar for a month and it's great. The battery last decently. I don't keep it on for the whole day just only when I go outside. I do advise anyone who is a first timer with a training collar know how to use it with the dog. It doesn't come with any instruction so make sure you know how to train the dog properly otherwise it's cruel to the animal. It's pretty expensive however it's worth getting it from LLbean.com because of there warranty that many other website don't have.
