This jacket is very warm, great to travel with. BUT it has the worlds most rotten zipper. It needs a heaver man size one.

The jacket is very warm. It's just the ticket for this 0 and below cold PA weather.I ordered a large and it fits me well. I am 5 ft.9 and weight 190. The only suggestion I would make would to add a loop for hanging. Oh' also the tag is visible when the jacket is reversed

For bicycling, I want the brightest color combined with the warmest garment. This meets both requirements perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by photoguy35 Not heavily field tested, but good so far
I just ordered this jacket a few weeks ago for deer hunting in PA. It came just in time as temps here are way below average. The first time I used it, I was in 15 degree weather for several hours with no hint of being cold. I'll be out much more this season, so I'm hoping to put it through its paces, but I'm happy with it thus far. I am a little hesitant to walk through brush with it, as I could see a thorn putting a hole in the fabric. The only other thing that I noticed is the orange fibers tend to shed a little, so it may need to be washed to remove them.

I've been going crazy trying to accurately layer clothing so I wasn't freezing to death on stand while deer hunting this year. I have used the traditional bean plaid coat with varying combinations of clothes underneath, as I like the quietness and durability of the wool, for about 20 years, but as I age I can't handle the cold like I used to. Prior to going with the wool coat, I had a down-filled one that always kept me warm in the woods and ice fishing too, but outgrew it. While shivering uncontrollably on stand the other day, I remembered that down coat. Saw this one and thought I'd give it a try. In a word, "WOW".Quality construction, reversible, and the camo side of the one I got is quiet. And very, very, warm. I'll use the wool cruiser for more temperate days, but this is my go-to cold weather deer hunting coat. Thanks to LL Bean, I'm warm again from head to toe (bought their Maine pac boots too!).

Rated 5 out of 5 by ColoradoHunter Excellent packable jacket
This is the perfect late fall, early winter coat for Rocky Mtn, hunting. You can reverse it while you travel and do not need the blaze orange. At first light when the temps are frigid the warmth is very welcome, then when the day warms up, you can easily stow it in your pack, at the end of the day you are glad to have it again. It has pockets in the right places for access while wearing a packet. All in all it is the right jacket for everything but rain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Angjonkar Good things come to those who can't wait
I was waiting for the heavy weight liner for the big game system and because of the delay, I chose to purchase this item instead. I thought I would be dissappointed, but believe me when I say that this coat exceeds my expectations. It is warm, light in weight, perfect for hunting, and reversible so when I go into town I won't look like a pumkin. You found a good one in this product LLBean!

...Just finished a "blizzard day" on the Laramie flats, and I feel real good in reporting this down jacket to be a fine piece of gear. Given the reasonable price I had expected this to be a glorified "down sweater" sort-of thing. On the contrary, this is a very thick, serious down jacket. I will admit that it did shed quite a bit of down right out of the box, but that seems to have eased off with use and time. (A little anti-static spray helps with this in any piece of down clothing, by-the-way.) The fabric on the "camo" side is very soft and comfortable; the slicker "inside" cloth is smooth and makes sliding arms into it very easy. I suppose this means that reversing it will engender some problems, but I really don't intend to do that very much. ...All the expected quality Bean touches; good zippers, lots of pockets, quality stitching. Buy it!

i wore this for a week and it's pretty warm. however it leaked feathers all over my other clothes. it only seemed to lose feathers from the orange side, the brown seemed clean and was of a smoother finish than the orange. i liked the chest pocket, but it doesn't have a cinch for the waistline. also, the finish on the orange side rubbed off onto my pants and shirts, etc. the sizing was right for me, a large fit like i wanted. i sent it back for a refund and i'll try something else.

I was looking for a warm coat to backpack into my hunting area without taking a bunch of room in my pack. This one stuffs into a bag and is about 12"x 6". Exactly what I was looking for. Only had to wear it once so far but very warm and comfortable. I would highly recommend this item.
