Rated 5 out of 5 by Athalon Marino wool hoody black
A very tight weave surface with a low nap internal finish.
Heavier than it looks ,but pictures can not show everything.
Marino wool from the goat is a tough yarn and insulates very well.
By design it is not a pocket haven . It has two large pockets with two smaller inside those with velcro for small items.
Fit is generous, a light long sleeve shirt could go under the garment with ease. The hood needs no draw strings if you use it with the front zipped to the top. It can be washed and dried to directions .
A good purchase for the price spent.

This is a great sweatshirt, good quality, warm, and great detail on stitching. I would prefer Pink but since it is for my husband Olive Green is a perfect match.Love the quality that I receive from LL Bean.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Doughg Well build, well priced
But it fits like a burlap bag. I hope it shrinks. I'm a large but I'm swimming in this sweatshirt. You need to look at the hood before you buy this. Its really well made. Its threatening to pill up, only time will tell. Great lite weight, great warmth for weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mulie best all purpose winter gear yet
I bought this sweatshirt two years ago. It fits like a zip sweatshirt should, no bagging, stretching or sagging. Merino wool is absolutely non itch...forget about polypro wicking anything. This is an underlayer when hunting, a casual grab it and go for everything else and is much, much warmer for the weight than any other fabric including cotton, fleece, or any synthetic. It is warm when wet, has not needed cleaning yet and is my favorite winter gear. Please bring it back in red again, and I will buy that too.

This hoodie is the finest merino garment I have seen. I use it all winter. Not only is it warm it can be worn next to the skin without being itchy. I wear it for hunting and dress as well. It gives me another garment for layering when it gets real cold. If you are looking for that garment that will do the job this it. It will take the chill off when nothing else will. L.L. Bean has another OUTSTANDING product here. Try it you will not be dissapointed

I purchased this item just prior to a lengthy overseas assignment. It's been a few months since the purchase and it's finally cool enough to use it in the early mornings and late evenings. The Merino wool is a plus for comfort and performs well during cool and windy weather conditions. It's nice and warm even during my frequent open cockpit helo flights. Between washing's and a few rainstorms, the jacket has held up well and it smells fine. It was a bit pricey compared to the other cotton, nylon and polyester options, but I believe it's a good value and expect to have it for many years. The hood is the subject of some negative comments in other reviews. I just roll it into the collar and notice no problems with fit and visibility. I would have rated it at five stars if they offered it in a few more reasonable colors. I hope LL Bean offers additional wool and other natural products. It's a home run.

Rated 5 out of 5 by bigred93 perfect for fall - warm, fits great
Perfect around the house warm hoodie for fall. Runs a bit large, but that's a good thing for layering. Soft, comfortable, mid-heavyweight fabric. Very happy with the product.

The sweatshirt looks great out of the package. Was very pleased until I washed it. After the first washing, the material began pilling and for the price paid I was very disappointed with the way it looks now. Need to return for refund.

Rated 4 out of 5 by WoolFan Runs a little on the big side.
I've been wearing this sweatshirt almost every day for a year and I love it. It is comfortable and soft. It wears well and doesn't get smelly (it gets washed frequently). I love that this sweatshirt is made of wool! I try to wear mostly natural materials, and anyone who's ever gotten rained on knows that cotton doesn't keep you warm when it gets wet (a real issue in Seattle).
If it were an option, I'd rate this at 4.5 stars. I've only had two issues:
1. Sizes run big. I initially ordered a large (my usual size) but I was swimming in it. Of course a quick call to the wonderful LL Bean customer service had a new one in Medium headed my way the same day. This isn't so much of a complaint as a warning to others, if you're not the type who pushes your shirt size to the limit, you might want to order a size down.
2. After a year of near constant wear, the cuffs have blown out at the seams. The fact that this sweatshirt was worn so frequently makes me understanding of this. A cheaper (and not wool) sweatshirt wouldn't have lasted nearly as long.
Neither of these two issues would prevent me from recommending this sweatshirt to anyone. In fact, I'm getting ready to order a new one for myself (I'll know which size to get this time too!).
