Wonderful. Taking it on a cruise to Iceland and Ireland where
I expect cold and rainy. With a raincoat should be enough.
Fit is good. Hidden pockets fit traveling well. Fitted hood

I love this merino wool sweatshirt so much that I just ordered a second one exactly like the first one. I'm going to put it away so that when the first one finally wears out, I'll have another one waiting for me. It is much warmer than a cotton or cotton-poly sweatshirt, and breathes much better than a synthetic fleece jacket. The loden color is a sort of dark olive, one of my favorite colors, and hard to find at times.
The label says that it is machine washable. I have chosen to handwash it, roll it in a towel, then dry it flat. It came out beautifully.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Tully Nice sweatshirt
This merino wool sweatshirt is light, thin and warm. I love the rich material and its practicality, including the army green color. However, the sweatshirt body and sleeves are too long for a petite like myself. I had to return it with regrets. LLBean, please make these for petite size customers and also add a few more colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by blackbird2 Best surprise ever!
I put off getting this for a year because of the price, but am so glad I did. Soft, thick, light, warm, comfortable, attractive and well-made. Perfect for travel (doesn't wrinkle) or chilly days. If the pockets could safely hold a cell phone it would be perfect.

This zip up hoodie is so comfy and perfect for layering. Love the cut and the fit and the fabric is lovely and soft. My only critique is that it pills on the inside pretty badly - even from the first wash.

Rated 2 out of 5 by pinkopaque wish it had more of a woman's fit
I wish this had more of a woman's fit. I'm curvy, and the XL fit me in the torso (a bit tight at the hips), but the arms and shoulders were huge and baggy. It felt like wearing a men's sweatshirt. Too expensive for what it was and a poor fit - had to return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GreyC Came back to order another!
Came back to order another merino wool sweatshirt. Sadly, they are out of my size! When L.L. Bean reorders this fall, hopefully the size/style and shape does not change. I also appreciate the basic colors and quality. Thank you for carrying something from a that is good quality that fits under the hunting line. Often times things like this are reserved only for the men department.
If you are wondering about this size, it is true to size. I am a tall woman of average size, and the length and sleeves are perfect. Maybe because it is made from quality merino wool that there are no corners being cut in the size? So regular and tall people would be happy with this, petite...not so much.
This is worth every penny. It wears wonderfully and washes beautifully. Please restock ASAP. This sweatshirt is so perfect I want to stock up before it is gone!

Rated 3 out of 5 by knitwitsquared Merino Wool Hooded Sweatshirt
This is a warm, cozy sweatshirt, but it has three major flaws: It is too long, it lacks a double zipper, and it's somewhat on the skinny side. If I had kept it, wearing it would mean either pulling it up and wearing it bunched around my waist, or extending it fully and stretching the waist because of the lack of a double zipper. The fabric used to make it so long would have been better used in making this piece wider. I would have appreciated a larger, more usable hood as well.

One rarely comes across merino wool garments in such a practical item. Most Americans think wool is scratchy, except for hard to care for cashmere. Having lived throughout a winter in England, I've learned to love the comfort and easy care of merino wool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sailorette2 Soft and warm
Fabric is soft and warm. Not itchy. Form fitting so if you want it to be looser, order up a size. Does cover your "bottom" area which is nice when it's cold. Have worn it for morning walks under a wind breaker.
Will be using it for sailing in the San Francisco Bay Area.
