Rated 2 out of 5 by ReviewerOccasionale Not very soft
I ordered these pillowcases because they were recommended by the Sweethome. But when I received them I was extremely disappointed. The material is much rougher than I expected considering the price and the reviews. The cheap old pillowcases I'm trying to replace feel much nicer than these new ones do. I wish I had returned them, but I made the mistake of thinking they'd feel better after I washed them. (Spoilers: they didn't.) Now they're destined to gather dust in the closet until I eventually throw them out. Strongly disrecommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by FirstQuality much improved fabric
Last year I was disappointed with the cotton percale used, but all seems to be straightened out. Last week I ordered 4 of the regular size cases, cream color, I've used them and washed them and I'm really very happy with them. They felt wonderful to sleep on, washed and dried perfectly -- also the fabric feels heavier, which is also a big plus. I'm completely happy with these cotton percale linens once again. Am ordering the cream color sheets now that I know they will be up to Beans usual high standards. Well done, LLBEAN.

by KaitlynN Disappointed - colors not as shown
I bought the Mid-Blue pillowcases to go along with the whale print percale sheets since we needed some extra. Looking at the thumbnail, it was the perfect navy color to complement the whales.
When I received the sheets, I was really disappointed. The Mid-Blue sheets I received are actually a little darker than the "Lake" color. No where near the navy blue indicated in the thumbnail or preview. These are going back...

by Scirocco Like the sheets, but some colors are not accurate
I like the sheets and pillow cases and they haven't pilled after a month, but just be aware some of the colors are way off. The white and cream are fine, but the "mid blue" is MUCH lighter (slightly darker than the Lake). The picture thumbnail showing ALL of the sheet colors/prints stacked up is much closer to the real colors, so use that to make your choices. Photo attached shows what I got as "Mid Blue".

Rated 1 out of 5 by MemieB Really disappointed
I have been using LL Bean's percale sheets for twenty years. First, made in France, then Portugal, now China. Asked for these as a Christmas gift. They are scratchy and rough. Really nothing like the old LL Bean percale linens. Company should state where made (used to when it was Europe).

Rated 5 out of 5 by EliAlKi Outstanding Percale Sheets
I ordered a set of the plain white 280-Thread-Count Pima Cotton Percale Sheets for my new king-size bed and find them to be outstanding in every way. The have a nice medium weight, lovely quality thread and weave, excellent hemming/finishing and, last but not least, that wonderful crisp, cool feel of a perfect percale. For what it's worth, I'm a very choosy, hem-inspecting, textile snob with high standards and these exceed my expectations, especially at the price point. The only thing that would make them better is if they were made in the USA!
That said, I am completely puzzled by the negative reviews. The only explanations I can come up with are that 1.) there have been occasional quality control issues and/or 2.) some people simply don't understand the difference between percale and sateen sheets. If you are concerned about the former, don't hesitate to order these sheets - on the off-chance there's an issue, Bean has a 100% guarantee (what do you have to lose?)! As for the latter, these are outstanding basic percale sheets of excellent quality and I have not found better; if you want the feel of 340-thread-count sateen (or jersey or flannel), well then don't buy percale and then blame it for not being sateen.

Rated 1 out of 5 by citymom09 very poor quality
They are scratchy and for some reason absorb oil from your skin and it doesn't wash out! I have never had pillowcases like this before. We've had them a couple of months, and I've washed them a whole bunch of times, and they look horrible.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Passeshopper Worst Sheets Ever
After careful studying of the 280 Thread Count Pima Cotton Percale(???) sheets, I decided to buy a complete king size set of sheets. Trusting LLBean's outstanding quality merchandise, the price was justifiable. These sheets are the roughest fabric and very uncomfortable. Trying ever thing to soften the material, and finally giving up on that, this review might keep another customer from purchasing these sheets. My one star rating is only for the lovely color of Lake. No longer have invoice or packaging materials, so returning is too late. Look elsewhere if you are looking for soft percale sheets!

Very disappointed with the color of these linens, depicted as a spruce green on the LL Bean website, and arrived a different lighter green altogether. Glad I didn't order the entire set of sheets!

Rated 2 out of 5 by FirstQuality Rough fabric.
These pillowcases are rough on the face, and they are pilling and catching lint or something - never before had this problem with LLBean linens. Both these and the sunwashed percale sets have failed me, and just after I went through my linen closet and threw away the cases that were just too old to be used. 10 years old, some were....so they performed well, but these are just not nearly as good, they're unsuitable in fact. I have to keep them, I have no others, and I noticed that you pulled some of these cases (in my green color) and put them on sale, they're now backordered, so I'm thinking you fixed the problem and come mid September I can place a new order and restock the linen closet with my usual wonderful quality LLBean bedding.
